What Happens When We Cross Over from Obedience to Legalism?

There was a time when I was tired and burned out from trying to make things happen in my life. That is when God first started teaching me about grace.

I was trying so hard to get my soul healed so my promises would manifest. In that process, I stepped out of grace. I crossed the line from being led by the Holy Spirit to relying on my own strength to make stuff happen.

Unfortunately, the more works I did, the worse my situation became. I was acting up more, getting sicker and basically losing it. That's when God showed me a Scripture that explained why this was happening. Galatians 3:10 says, "And for all who depend on the law, [who are seeking to be justified by obedience to the law of rituals] are under a curse and doomed to disappointment..."

I had fallen into a bad habit of keeping fleshly rituals in an effort to see my breakthrough. I fasted excessively, even though the Holy Spirit hadn't led me to do so, and I repented endlessly for every little mistake. Jesus told us to fast and repent, but I had let those graces turn into legalistic rituals that I was using to become "holy".

But only Jesus makes us holy, by grace through our faith, not our works. When we cross over from doing good acts of obedience into keeping excessive, legalistic rituals, we will literally be cursed! No wonder things were getting so bad for me.

How Do We Get More Faith?

The Bible says that we are made the righteousness of God through Christ if we will just believe. Grace is a power that makes you righteous! It keeps your soul and strengthens your soul and it's free. Then you will inherit your promises!

How do you do that? Ephesians 2:8 says that it is by grace through faith that you are saved. Your faith releases grace. The more faith you have, the more grace will be active in your life. So how do you get more faith? You grow it!

The Bible says, "...faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). When you study, meditate on and decree the Word of God, it increases and grows your faith. One of the reasons why this little book is so powerful is because it's full of the Word of God!

Every time you make decrees, it will cause your faith to rise for healing and deliverance. When your faith rises, then grace is automatically released! When that happens, grace also flows into your soul to bring you even more healing! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
