John Belt: "This is the Month of the Double!"

I sure enjoy reading the fresh insight that John Belt shares in his latest article for the month we are in.

Are you ready for some "double blessings" in your life?

Well, that's kind of a silly question, isn't it? I think we all are...however what will you do WHEN it happens? What I am saying is...let's believe in FAITH that God is the God of double and watch Him move!

I thought of this verse as I was reading John's word: "Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours" (Isaiah 61:7).

"But you shall be named the priests of the Lord, they shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory you shall boast. Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs." Isaiah 61:6-7

When I was seeking the Lord about the month of September, He spoke to me that this is the month of the "double". It was immediately confirmed through different events that happened twice in just a few days. Believe God for His double blessing on your life – that you may be a double blessing to others. This is a month of double honor and a double portion, and a time for blessing and promotion.

Shifts, Changes, Dream of New Mantles

Some have been in a season of hard work. In the month of September, God is releasing the double with promotion where a shift will happen that will take people from a place of hard labor into a place where the work has a greater oil and ease to it. Expect the Lord to bring a shift in your life that will bring you to a higher place of blessing, prosperity and the fresh air of His Spirit, where it is easier for you to breathe. Many people are ready for a change, a shift, and God is going to give it.

"And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, 'Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?' Elisha said, 'Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.'" 2 Kings 2:9

After the Lord spoke to me concerning this being the month of double, I received a dream about mantles of anointing being given. Just as Elisha was asking for the mantle of Elijah we should pursue after the double of His anointing for our lives. In this dream the Lord was saying, "I know what you want" with a smile. He is willing to give these mantles out to those who pursue Him.

The Blessing of Double Doors Opening Wide

"Thus says the Lord to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—
To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings,
To open before him the double doors,
So that the gates will not be shut:
"I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the Lord,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel." Isaiah 45:1-3

After the fall of Babylon to Cyrus, King of Persia, exiled Judeans were permitted to return to Judah. King Cyrus was used by God to issue the decree to rebuild the house of God (Ezra 6:3, Isaiah 44:28). God used Cyrus and decreed to open the "double doors" before Him continually, where those spiritual doors would never be shut. As well as we see God promising to make His paths straight, to bring breakthrough (breaking the bars of iron), giving treasures in obscurity, even the hidden riches. (Photo via Unsplash)

What this reveals is how much God will support us building "the house of His presence". This is not the house of man, but the house of God. The Lord totally backs us when we are out to create a place for Him to dwell. He will open up the double doors, making our paths straight, and give us the hidden riches as well.

"Even them I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all people." Isaiah 56:7

Believe God is Good

Here are some points to consider and believe for:

1. Understand it is the nature of God to bless, bring increase and promote. When God sees faithfulness, He brings reward and greater blessings because of His goodness.

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6

2. Believe God for "the double" – that He would pour out blessing that you "cannot contain" where you don't even have room enough to receive it. This is where our tithes and offerings are so important. If we don't bring them, we are robbing God. But not only that, we are not helping to build the House of His presence, a place for Him to dwell. Just as God backed King Cyrus in His commitment to decree the house of God to be built and to supply for it, (Ezra 6:8), He will also back us as we are committed to building His house of prayer and worship.

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the Lord of Hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you a blessing, that there will not be room enough to receive it. I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground, and the vines in your field will not fail to bear fruit," says the Lord of Hosts. "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land," says the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 3:10-12

We are to believe for double in many areas. What do you want to believe God for? What is the double you are believing for?

3. Position yourself to receive that overflow where your cup literally runs over with His presence and blessing. (Photo via freedesignfile)

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:5-6

Even in the presence of your enemies, God is able and wants to prepare a table, anoint you and cause your cup of your life to overflow with His glory. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
