"Swans Know When to Embrace Change and Migrate"

 This is a fun read and also has a great lesson in it from Dan and Linda Wilson...from the life of "swans."
God speaks through His creation...and we can learn much as we see His glory displayed throughout the earth.
Here is what swans can teach us as the Wilson's share:
Swans innately know when it is time to migrate. As seasons change, God speaks to swans and "to us" when it is time to vacate the current sanctuary, moving into a new one where the food supply is plentiful and the temperature is right. The journey to the new place can be long and arduous, but is well worth the effort. Fly!

The Swans are Migrating North
Recently we saw a pair of gorgeous, white swans on a small lake in Alaska. They were in very shallow water feeding. One swan swam away into deeper water. The swans began trumpeting to each other. The calls sounded like noisy honks, continuing until the second one joined its partner in the deep.
These rare trumpeter swans winter in the northwestern US and southwestern Canada, migrating over 1400 miles to Alaska en route to their final arctic destination for nesting each summer. With ten-foot wingspans, these birds are the largest flying birds in the world. In a word, they are magnificent!
Swans Teach Us to "Embrace Change"
Swans innately know when it is time to migrate. As seasons change, God speaks to swans and "to us" when it is time to vacate the current sanctuary, moving into a new one where the food supply is plentiful and the temperature is right. The journey to the new place can be long and arduous, but is well worth the effort. Fly!
We are like the swans on the lake. God is calling us, His beautiful Bride, to move into deeper water, into the abundance of the Spirit, where we cannot touch bottom. It is in this deep Spirit-water that we find safety in seasons of transition. It is also where we find refreshment and joy.
The swans' communications seemed noisy, even somewhat unpleasant. But they heard each other. May we, the Church, hear each other—beyond words—beyond noisy distractions. May we hear what the Spirit is saying in and through each other as we migrate together into the coming season.
Two Are Better Than One: Swans Need Each Other
 The lead swan was discontent until its partner joined him or her in the deep. Scripture tells us that two are better than one! Swans need each other close by. The same holds true for the Church. During this migratory change in season, we need unity and fellowship in the Church. We need to watch each other's back, comfort each other, and enjoy the pleasure of simply being together. It is a well-known fact that swans mate for life. Covenant. The big Church globally is joined together into one through a God-initiated covenant. Christians in Indonesia are bound to those in Uganda, to Panama, to Iran, to Germany, etc. We are one Church, one Bride—being made ready for the return of the Bridegroom. May He find us dressed splendidly in white just as the lovely swans were as they swam together in the deep.
Hear the trumpet call the Apostle Paul sounded to the Ephesians that still reverberates today:
"I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one Body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:1-6 (NKJV)
The swans are heading north to enter their summer safe haven. We will find our secure sanctuary in the deep Spirit-water as we migrate together towards Jesus, our True North. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)
