Kim Potter: "A Thanks Offering to the Lord"

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Steve ShultzThere is a passage that jumps into my head as I write this.

"There is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother!" (Proverbs 18:24).

It's so true.

I don't have a brother offering to help us raise much needed funds for ELIJAH LIST Ministries.

But I have a friend who is doing that! My friend Kim Potter, a regular writer for THE ELIJAH LIST.

She offered to do this and how can I say, "No"?

In short, Elijah List Ministries strongly needs this help, but I hate to twist peoples' arms. Would you consider reading this and then giving your best thanksgiving gift in honor of THANKSGIVING?

This one thing I CAN promise...God ALWAYS, ALWAYS MULTIPLIES your giving back to you.

It simply doesn't fail because it can't fail. God cannot lie!

Please remember our work in translating the Words we receive into French, Spanish and German, and we work hard to provide Christian Television/Streaming programs for you each week. These things cost a lot of money because they involve many workers. Bless you for your part in keeping this going.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers and thank you for your help!

Love,

Steve and Derene Shultz

In October, I was seeking the Lord about our monthly partner letter that goes out to our ministry partners. As I prayed about what to send out, one statement continually came to mind: "A Heart of Thanksgiving."

This statement caused me to reflect on something that had happened to me personally that very week. I had been dealing with a medical issue, I had an infection in my mouth that caused me a great deal of pain. It seemed like each morning as I showered all I could do was pray and ask God to heal me, remove the pain and then receive my healing by faith. I did that for several days.

Then one morning, I went about my normal routine and started to pray and ask God to heal this infection, remove the pain and make me whole. However, as I began to pray, I stopped. I literally felt as if the Holy Spirit put His hand over my mouth. I did not pray and ask God for anything. Instead, I began to think of things I could thank Him for.

I began to thank Him that I was able to eat again, I thanked Him that Jesus bore my pain at the Cross. The more I gave thanks, the more I could think of to thank Him for. By the time I was dressed and ready for my day, my heart was filled with thanksgiving. My heart in this circumstance had completely changed.

I went about my morning, it took a while for me to even notice that the pain was gone and I was feeling much better. That day I began to give thanks more and more.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

It is not always easy to give thanks, frankly, it wasn't easy that day. I was giving thanks in spite of the pain, in spite of the infection, knowing this is the very thing we must do in order to see God's will accomplished in our lives. Thanksgiving will cause us to move into higher realms of faith. Thanksgiving breaks the power of the enemy. I saw it do just that. (Photo via Flickr)

Whenever you give thanks to God, despite the most difficult circumstances, the enemy loses a big battle in your life. When you give thanks in the midst of difficulty, you bring pleasure to God's heart. He is looking for those who live in a realm of praise and thanksgiving where the enemy no longer has an ability to hold or manipulate that person. Satan is defeated when we have a thankful heart because thankfulness during difficulty is a sacrifice that is well pleasing to God.

How about you? Are you thankful? Are you thankful for your present circumstances? Thankfulness is a key to your life and life more abundantly.

Thanksgiving may very well be the key that turns your situation around. Why? Because it changes you, your perception, and your attitude. It's a heart change. There is power in a thankful heart. And that was my October partner letter.

Thankful for The Elijah List

I wrote the partner letter that I just shared with you and sent it out last month. I didn't think about it again until recently when God brought it back to my attention. He spoke plainly to my heart that day as He shared His heart with me concerning The Elijah List.

Every single one of you reading this letter today has been blessed by The Elijah List; I know I have and I know our ministry has. The Elijah List has caused increase to come to our ministry, simply by sharing some of our writings. That is the seed they have sown into our ministry and for that I am eternally thankful.

In a world where most people are concerned with themselves and if their needs are met, The Elijah List works daily to bless other ministries by sending out their writings. They work daily to bless their readers by sending out every significant, right-now word they come across.

More times than I can count I have been encouraged, uplifted and set back on the right path to press forward simply by reading the daily emails from The Elijah List – for that I am so very thankful today.

That day, as the Lord shared His heart with me, He showed me that many people are blessed by this ministry, blessed by their daily emails, blessed by their Prophetic Words and yet many of these same people have never sown into the "good ground" of this ministry. He told me it was time to give them an offering of thanksgiving. It is time to sow a seed of a thank offering to the Lord in thanks for The Elijah List and how they have blessed all of us.

What is a Thank Offering?

We read about the thank offering in Lev. 7:12. Let me share some insights I found on the thank offering:

• The thank offering or sacrifice of thanksgiving was an optional offering. This is also termed the "thanksgiving offering."

If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried. (Lev. 7:12)

• The Hebrew noun todah meaning, "thanksgiving" is derived from the Hiphil of the verb yadah "to praise."

First let me point out – a thanksgiving offering is OPTIONAL. You do not have to live a life of thankfulness, it is your choice, but as you choose to be thankful, you are choosing life. And you certainly do not have to give a thank offering; that too, is a choice and it is a choice that produces life.

And...a thanksgiving offering is perceived by God as PRAISE. I can think of no better way to praise God than to have a heart of thanksgiving and I can think of no better way to show that heart of thanksgiving than by giving a thank offering unto the Lord.

Have you been blessed by this ministry? If so, pray about giving a THANK offering today in praise to God. Has your ministry increased because of The Elijah List? If so, ask God what He would have you give today.

I can tell you this, as you sow, you are sowing INTO increase because that is what this ministry does daily. And you will reap what you sow, the word of God declares it to be so.

A Way to Give Back

The Bible teaches us that we are to give back into the places where we receive spiritual food.

Galatians 6:6-10, "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit, will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."

1 Corinthians 9:14, "Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the Gospel should live from the Gospel."

These things are the truth of the Word of God, however, if you are in ministry, you are probably aware that it is a small group that gives back when they are fed. It should not be that way. God is not pleased when we take and take and give nothing back. I refuse to be one of those, who takes and doesn't give back. I choose to follow the Word of God and give to those who feed me.

Recently I was listening to a minister and he said, "Think back to the ministries God has connected you to and thank God for them, for you will begin to walk in what they walk in."

Reading daily emails does not connect you to a ministry, sowing into them does, it puts you in covenant with them. When you are in covenant, what they walk in, you are well-able to walk in as well. If you want the blessings and favor that is on a ministry who blesses you, covenant with them, sow into them and watch God's favor come upon you as you do.

On a final note, I must ask once again: Has the Elijah List been a blessing to you? Have they brought spiritual increase and insight?

If so, consider sowing a seed into their ministry.

Please give an offering of thanksgiving today and sow into Elijah List Ministries (links below).

You see, God showed me that our ministry has received increase because of The Elijah List and I know many other ministries have as well. I am excited to sow into increase. I am excited to covenant with such a ministry...how about you?

Please consider giving to Elijah List Ministries today!

God Bless You All!
