Sandie Freed: "Let the Authority and Mantle of Jehu Arise!"

God is calling us to come up higher: higher to hear Him more clearly and higher to receive this mantle from Heaven. There is a passion attached to the Jehu mantle and as many of us rise up to receive a fresh impartation from Heaven, God will also release a burning passion to demonstrate more fully His Kingdom on the earth. This passion is to be passed to the future generations.

One Nation, Under God

Over a month ago, I began to pray ever more diligently concerning the future of the United States of America. Though I believe I have a heart for many different nations, I have to admit that I love my country and, more than anything, I want to see America make godly choices...in everything!

As many others I know, I still cry when I sing the National Anthem! I remember as a student in school repeating the Pledge of Allegiance and wanted to cry, but wouldn't for fear I might be a spectacle. During sporting events, whether I am watching on television or in the bleachers, when I stand once more and sing along with the National Anthem, I am still teary-eyed. I place my hand over my heart and sing a song that has resonated with freedom, liberty and one nation under God for hundreds of years. However, lately, my heart has been grieved because I wasn't sure that we would remain one nation UNDER God. So I prayed, and like many of you, prayed very hard! (Photo via Unsplash)

One morning as I prayed, I had a vision of a mantle of authority hovering over the United States. It was as if a mantle were waiting for God's people to chose to rise up, receive their mantles of authority and then demonstrate their godly authority upon the earth – and this authority was not just limited to the United States; this authority was to be demonstrated to the nations.

I asked the Lord, "What is this? What are You trying to show me?" I knew it was time for Believers to have a new garment, a spiritual garment change, but which garment did we now need to have to proceed into our future? Then I heard the Lord say...

"I am breathing afresh upon the Jehu mantle of authority. This mantle will empower My people to rise up in authority and begin to establish My Kingdom in a new way. I will empower those who are willing to continue to hear My voice and remain committed to follow Me and they are to use their authority to make godly decrees that will disengage many ungodly decrees. I will release a fresh Jehu mantle that will not only touch this generation, but also the generations to come."

We Need The Jehu Mantle!

I had this encounter before the presidential election. Now, it is even clearer to me that we need the Jehu mantle – and we need a people that will receive and demonstrate the authority of Jehu.

There is much to learn from Jehu. God anointed him to end Jezebel's evil and corrupted reign and destroy false worship in the land. I believe it is safe to say that the Lord is speaking to many of us concerning returning to our first love. God is calling us to come up higher: higher to hear Him more clearly and higher to receive this mantle from Heaven. There is a passion attached to the Jehu mantle and as many of us rise up to receive a fresh impartation from Heaven, God will also release a burning passion to demonstrate more fully His Kingdom on the earth. The mantle of authority with which Jehu carried out his mission is revealed within his name and generational lineage. Yes, Jehu had a "generational anointing" which was a mantle of authority upon his family. First, Jehu's grandfather (the one who seems to be the first generation with the mantle) was Nimshi and his name means "one who sets free" and "rescued."

We can conclude, therefore, whenever we consider the importance of names in the culture at that time, that God had mantled him as a type of deliverer. It appears that the mantle upon the generations was meant to remove yokes of oppression. The mandate upon Jehu's generation is the same that was upon Jesus.

We read about this mantle and mandate in Isaiah 10:27 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."

God is Removing the Yokes of Oppression

I believe that when God showed me the mantle of Jehu, He was also showing me that as He releases it, He will remove the yoke from our nation, individuals and our generations to come! Since the Jehu mantle was a godly mantle passed down from generations we can expect to pass this on to the next generations ourselves! This is something to get excited about! I know you care as much about the next generations as I do!

Now, let's look at the name of Jehu's father. His father, Jehoshaphat, when translated means "Jehovah judges." When considering the fact that the generational mantle was meant to set people free from an oppressive yoke, we are now reminded that the Lord is just and that His presence brings justice into ungodly situations. Jehovah God is the righteous Judge; it is our responsibility to align with Him and His Word.

God loves us; He judges differently than some of us might think. When God judges sickness, He releases healing. When He judges sin, He releases forgiveness and calls us lovingly into repentance. When God judges a backslidden nation, I believe He releases His mercy and a loving nudge to cry out and plea for His divine mercy.

Jehu's name means "Jehovah." I believe that when Jehu destroyed Jezebel, He not only did it in the name of Jehovah, but also that the spirit of the Lord Jehovah came upon him. Yes, God clothed Jehu with Himself and, therefore, mantled him with HIS strength. Whenever the Lord mantles us and clothes us, we are filled with His divine strength to accomplish the task ahead.

Believer, take a moment: receive that strength today! Let that soak in a bit, you are filled with the power of His might!

Will We Be "Yoked" or "Mantled?"

In my book, The Jezebel Yoke, I go to great length to discuss the difference between a yoke and a mantle of authority. A yoke occurs whenever we come into agreement with the enemy and his lies. Yet, dear ones, we cannot afford to believe anything opposite of what God says about us. We can learn a lot about this when we study the life of Gideon. Gideon was anointed to lead Israel out of their bondage to the Midianites.

Israel had become yoked with poverty, idolatry and hopelessness and the Lord chose Gideon to lead them out of their captivity. The Lord prophesied to Gideon's potential and called him a "mighty man of valor," but Gideon was himself yoked with unbelief and despair. This is why the Lord had to clothe Gideon (mantle him) with Himself:

But the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with Himself and took possession of him... (Judges 6:34 AMP)

From that point forward, Gideon walked in the authority of God to defeat the Midianites. Gideon had to decide whether or not he would invest himself into the next generations as he co-labored with God for the next generation. One of the definitions of "invest" is "to clothe!" Dear ones, are we willing to allow the Lord to clothe us? Are we willing to invest in the next generation by being like Jehu – the one who went full strength against an ungodly structure? Believer, receive that Jehu mantle today! Be clothed with the strength of the Lord. The anointing that awaits you will not only empower you but also the generations to come.

The Dream of the Courts of Heaven

As I am finishing this article, I must mention a dream I had recently. I dreamed that a door in Heaven opened. I was standing with God's mighty army looking beyond the open door. I was able to see into the Courts of Heaven. I saw the hand of the Lord holding a feathered pen and as He wrote, He was reversing ungodly decrees.

The Lord then handed the pen to His army as if to say "Now it's your turn. I'm giving you the authority now to take My mantle upon you and in My name you will reverse many ungodly decrees." Then I awoke.

It was clear to me that when Jehu tore down an ungodly government, He was reversing many evil decrees that had been upon God's children. I also thought of Esther and how she had to lay down her own life to fulfill her purpose and become positioned to reverse ungodly decrees. Dear ones, we are the same way. We are being empowered to make godly decrees that will reverse the plans of the enemy!

A new door of hope has opened for us as Americans. God is offering us an opportunity to be mantled with His authority and shift ungodly structures and governments – in the U.S. and abroad! We can take this mantle of authority to S. Africa, S. Korea, India, and a multitude of other nations! Generations await our zeal and passion to establish His Kingdom on earth. Dear ones, I challenge you today: go for it! Receive your mantle! And let us then stand shoulder to shoulder as God's mighty army! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)
