A Joyous Time of Year, but a Very Serious Situation |
Dear Friend of Zion,
Sukkot is the most joyous of the seven Biblical feasts (mentioned in Leviticus 23). Sukkot is also a harvest festival where God's people give thanks for His provision. So, this one Jewish holiday is sort of like Christmas and Thanksgiving combined!
However, you should know that amidst the joy, this report from a doctor at our medical facility in Israel describes what's going on in Israel right now:
“Unfortunately, the threat of attack is significant. We've begun construction of a new protected underground emergency facility, fortified against nuclear, biological and chemical attack, that will help us save lives - but we need additional funding to complete it...” Dr. Amnon Rofe

This same center came under rocket fire from Gaza, and we're preparing so that if this should happen again, the hospital will still be able to keep its patients alive as well as treat victims of a terror attack.
Can you imagine being a doctor and having to plan for that?
As if providing medical care for the sick and wounded weren't already challenging enough!
