Mark Perry has an amazing anointing to bring social justice and the passion of the Lord everywhere he goes. I have always been encouraged by Mark's commitment to the Kingdom of God. As a pastor and an emerging prophetic voice, he has the best interest of people and an ability to share the truth with love.
We have been friends for over 20 years and we both planted our first churches in the same region at mid-western college towns in the 1990s. We are paralleling once again as Mark and Cheryl also have an anointing for media and a calling to influence the Arts and Entertainment industries. From Early 2016
I am not prone to prophesying about particular years. But I have been hearing from the Lord all year about 2016. Here is what I've been hearing:
2016 is a year of jubilee, breakthrough, and fulfilled promises. Many people experienced a challenging 2015. As I have been traveling quite a bit in 2016, I have found that about two-thirds of the people I have ministered to have found 2015 to be a difficult year.
This year, at the stroke of midnight, I and many others experienced an immediate, undeniable grace for this year. There was new hope, new joy, and new divine grace on the promises of God for this year. I saw and experienced the joy and anticipation of fulfilled promises. I sensed from God that this year is a year of people experiencing the fulfillment of long-standing promises from God, freedom from the past, and significant breakthrough.
My friend, Lou Engle, came to our church and prophesied the same thing—a new grace from God to experience jubilee—the releasing of all bondage and challenge as we also release those indebted to us through hurt and offense.
For approximately the first quarter of 2016, there was tremendous hope for this year. I and many others were proclaiming great hope and expectation for 2016. We sensed great faith for all God was going to do.
Then, the second quarter of 2016 amounted to what can only be described as "counter-attack." There was resistance to the proclamation of many in 2016. The promises were tested. The Greek word for "testing" and "tempting" are the same. The devil sets us up for testing so we will fail, but God sets us up for testing so we will pass. There was testing by God to allow us to deepen our convictions about His purposes and His promises. Unfortunately, some of us have wavered and gotten "wobbly" as my British friends would say. But God remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. The promises are still true!
2016 Now and Beyond...
We are now finishing the 3rd quarter of 2016 (July-Sept), and this is a time to make decisions. Are we going to BELIEVE God and trust what He told us in the beginning of this year, or are we going to waver and falter, giving in again to the pattern of unbelief and shame that has held so many? My friend Doug Addison has been prophesying something similar—that God is going to vindicate and fulfill promises in this next season.
So what season are we in RIGHT NOW? I believe, as of this writing on mid-September 2016, that we are in the P.U.S.H. stage of fulfillment. Pray Until Something Happens! This is a time to believe God and to press into the previous promises God has made to us. This is a time to set aside emotions and to operate by faith. God wants nothing more than His people to rise up in faith and believe God for the fulfillment of His purposes and His promises this year.
This is a Season of CONSECRATION
This is a time to dig deeper into submission to the Lord, to pray for His purposes, and to have confidence in His promises. I am hearing over and over, "Psalm 110." God is going to fulfill promises this year, and the pathway to fulfillment is a deeper submission and consecration to God the Father. God will vanquish your foes and vindicate you as you submit to Him even more. Lower still.
Take the place of consecration. Give God everything, trusting Him to fulfill His promises in your life as you yield, yield, yield to Him. It is VERY important that God fulfills His promises to you, and that will happen as you yield to your God, going lower still and saying Yes to finding Him afresh in the secret place.
Don't be taken out by challenges, for they don't define you! You are MORE than a conqueror through Him who loves you. You are destined for BREAKTHROUGH in Jesus and the fulfillment of His promises as you say Yes in a fresh way with all your heart.
In closing, I feel Psalm 20:1-5 for you, even right now: "May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! May He send you help from the sanctuary and support you from Zion!... May He grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions."
