I hear the Lord say, "I am releasing an outpouring of My Spirit to bring healing to wounded hearts."

I was very excited about this word I received from the Lord. Oftentimes we rejoice at miracles of physical healings but I hear the Lord's encouragement and reminder that the anointing of the Holy Spirit is also available for the healing of "soul wounds".

Isaiah 61 says, The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.

Many Believers had been scarred with emotional wounds or sustained mental attacks. I hear the Lord saying, "I want to heal your wounds."

Supernatural Healing of a Woman with a Deep and Infected Wound

The Lord had been speaking to me in recent years about the healing of soul wounds but recently He reinforced this message through a miracle I witnessed. Recently I ministered at a conference in Notteroy, Norway, where the Lord healed many physically sick people. Among those who came forward for healing was a lady with a bandaged hand. She described her wound as 5cm deep, 10cm long and infected. The doctor had told her it would take two to three months to heal.

I prayed for her, asking the Lord to heal her. A short while later after I returned to London, I heard the report from her church that she had testified publicly of her healing. She was seen by the nurse about two days after she received prayers. The nurse removed the bandage and exclaimed, "There is nothing here." The wound had completely closed up and healed by the Lord! What should have taken two or three months to heal, according to the doctors, had been healed within a few days!

After I got this report, I heard in my spirit that this healing was "a sign of the Lord's willingness to heal deep soul wounds". The Lord shared with me on the anointing that had been made available for the healing of our soul and emotions. Wounds that have festered for years can be healed in His presence. The Lord longs to bring healing to all categories of emotional wounds, its root causes and consequences.

Wounded Souls with Demonic Roots

These are those with wounded souls caused by demonic afflictions. In Luke 8 verse 27, Jesus met a demon-possessed man by the tomb. He had become an outcast as he was driven out by demons into solitary places. One can only imagine the torment he suffered from being an outcast, but Jesus knew that for his pain to be taken away, he had to be delivered of the demonic spirits that tormented him. When Jesus casted out the demons from him, his sanity was restored.

Today some, by reason of the demonic oppression they are dealing with, are being taunted by the enemy but the Lord says, "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds," declares the LORD, "because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares" (Jeremiah 30:17).

One of the amazing stories of deliverance I know of was a lady who was a new Believer that I met in New York about five years ago. Unknown to me, she had suffered for ten years from various mental disorders including bipolarism, depression and schizophrenia. She attended a church meeting I ministered at and later invited me as a guest into her home.

The Spirit of Wisdom and Counsel from the Lord will release direction in bringing healing in certain situations. One night as I slept in the guest bedroom, the Lord gave me a dream where I was in the shower room in the lady's house. In the dream, black insects swarmed at the top of the shower. Voices came out of these insects repeating the words, "Kill yourself."

I woke up from the dream and the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the black insects represented demonic spirits that plagued the thoughts of the woman telling her to kill herself but that He wants to set her free. I came out of the room and shared the dream with her. She told me she was in the shower the same time I had my dream and as she showered she heard demonic voices in her head repeating that she should kill herself.

She explained about her long-term mental illnesses. For ten years she had felt like an outcast due to her illness, and she had once been placed in a mental home on a suicide watch. This lady had so much pain in her heart due to her illness and had often cried out to be well. She was on medication which suppressed the symptoms but did not cure her. I understood from the prophetic dream I had that for her emotional wound to be healed, the underlying demonic problems plaguing her had to be cast out. I explained this gently to her and took authority over the spirits tormenting her to be bound and cast out, knowing that the anointing was all that was needed to set her free.

About five months after that prayer, I returned to New York. One day as I was being driven by her, I noticed how peaceful she looked and remarked to her that she looked different. She replied that it was because she was healed. She said after I prayed for her, the Holy Spirit had told her she was healed. She became free of the symptoms and stopped her medication. It has been 5 years since she had been completely healed by the Lord and she often comes to my meetings in New York and freely testifies of her miraculous healing and testified at a Christian radio station in New York too!

Her testimony had encouraged many to reach out to the Lord and believe for supernatural healing of their inner wounds and mental illnesses! How awesome that a moment in the anointing can heal a long-term situation where our human effort has failed.

Those Who Mourn Will Receive the Oil of Joy

Isaiah 53 gives such a beautiful description of the exchange on the Cross. The chastisement of our peace was upon Jesus. Isaiah 61 talks about the Lord giving us the oil of joy instead of mourning. The following story will encourage you to receive from Jesus the exchange that took place at the Cross. A few years ago, I ministered at a conference in Holland where some folks who suffered with mental problems from a mental home also attended. I made an altar call for salvation at the end of the meeting. I knew that once they were saved, the enemy would no longer have a legal foothold to torment them anymore. They all gave their lives to Jesus!

After their salvation, I prayed in the name of Jesus that they would be delivered and set free. As I prayed, one of the women I prayed for let out a loud tormented scream which I discerned was caused by deep pain in her soul. At the same time Jesus whispered to me that He came with a gift of joy for her in exchange for her pain. He also told me that night she would laugh with joy. I told the lady what Jesus said but she only screamed louder in disbelief saying it was not possible for her to laugh or have joy as she had suffered much in life. I prayed that Jesus would release the spirit of joy into her and take away her pain.

After the meeting ended, she came to me with her face transformed with joy, laughing with deep belly, joyous laughter. She testified that as I prayed she felt something leave her and felt a tangible presence of joy that entered her soul. I gave Jesus praise as I witnessed this miracle. In the presence of the anointing, the exchange on the Cross was activated and this woman received the oil of joy for the healing of her wounded heart.

Forgiveness Will Be the Key for the Healing of Hearts

I hear this encouragement from the Lord, ''Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life'' (Proverbs 4:23).

The Lord is calling His Church to live an offense free life so that nothing will stop the flow of His life within us. Sometimes the healing of our hearts will be conditional on how we choose to forgive hurts. I have witnessed testimonies of those who had been healed of symptoms of depression as they chose to release and forgive those who had caused hurt to them. The Father has made provision for an outpouring of grace to forgive even in difficult circumstances. He is so zealous in His desire to make us whole!

The Power of Sin Will Be Broken Under This Anointing

Wounds in the past, if not dealt with or healed, could sometimes be doorways to sinful lifestyles or addictions. Recently at a meeting in London, the Lord supernaturally set a man free from drug addiction. He had a very difficult childhood, and as he grew up he became caught up in addiction to drugs to deal with the pain of His past. Although he had recently got saved when I met him, he continued in this lifestyle which his church feared could kill him.

I believe one of the keys to receiving healing from addiction is repentance. The deep presence of God's love and compassion ministered to him at the meeting. Such was the strength of this encounter with the Lord that he cried out that he wanted to be free of drugs and follow the Lord. I prayed for him to be delivered from the addiction without any withdrawal symptoms. His repentant heart soaked in the anointing that was released though prayer.

A week after the meeting, I heard reports from his church that he had been healed of this addiction. He also contacted me to say that he had stopped using drugs and had no withdrawal symptoms. He is now filled with such joy serving the church he attends faithfully, and Evangelizes when he has the opportunity. The Holy Spirit came and healed not only his addiction but also his heart.

For those with scars caused by rejection from family or friends, the Lord wants you to know He is the Father who sustains you. As you surrender to the knowledge that He is your constant companion and friend who will never leave or forsake you, rest and healing comes into your soul. In reality, He is enough and our ever present help.

Rest in Him Saints of God, and be encouraged. He hears the cries of your heart for the healing of your soul wounds. The anointing of our sovereign Lord is present in you to heal and make you whole as you walk in the purity of heart and faith in the finished work of the Cross that makes the power in the anointing available to you. Increased power and glory will come forth from the hearts of the mighty army of God that has been healed and restored by the power of the Holy Spirit.
