A few weeks back, I submitted an article to the Elijah List concerning the word of the Lord which was declaring that we were shifting into a new season of "suddenlies." It was a very encouraging word to the Body and I cannot begin to count all of the emails, phone calls and Facebook notifications giving God glory for their "suddenly!" On the other hand, there were many others who asked, "Why can't I access my suddenly?"

Some even said that they have been standing firm on the promise of a suddenly for years and needed insight as to how to access it and bring it into a present day reality.

This question brought me to my knees again - why? Because I so desire to see God's people blessed and walk in complete freedom and prosperity! So, I sought the Lord for some insight. This is the reason for this article - to empower you further to access your suddenly!

Just in case you don't know what a "suddenly" is, allow me encourage you to read my article on Elijah List posted "A New Season of Suddenlies." If you have previously read it, it will be well worth your time to reread it as this article actually picks up from there and lays out more detail of how to access, receive and experience one suddenly after another!

How Do I Access My Suddenly?

As I wrote earlier, many Believers have asked, besides using our faith, just what else is necessary to access my suddenly? I have concluded that there were two questions that we must ask ourselves: One being: Are there squatters in our land of promise? And, secondly: Are we protecting our boundaries in our land? Squatters in Our Land:

When I was a child my parents drove my sister, Pam, and me to visit our grandparents in Mississippi. My grandparents were farmers and were extremely hard workers. One summer we drove up to their property and someone had pitched a tent in their field by their stock tank. (Their tank was full of catfish by the way.) I thought as we drove up to the house, "Someone must be fishing!"

But, I later found out that there was a family who had been hiding at the very back of the acreage for a long time, camping out, and little by little they encroached closer to the house! Without permission, they had been living on the land, paying no taxes, fees, permits or anything - for close to a year! I remember my dad saying, "Pa, you've got a squatter!" Fortunately, we were able to help this family relocate, but let me assure you of this - many times this is a way for squatters to basically steal from us! Let me explain more.

A squatter is a person (or an entire family) who decides to set up camp and remain on land he/she doesn't own. It can even be a homeless person who moves into an empty building and gains a title to it without paying anything. Actually, there are many states that allow this and actually give right-of-way to the squatters. (As I stated earlier, we were able to move them to another location, but we acted fast. Waiting to act would have been costly!)

Spiritually, a situation of squatters rights is when we haven't possessed a portion of our Promised Land (a promise) and the enemy moves into our legal inheritance (territory) and declares squatters rights! Bottom line - your access to the promise is blocked! There is no way to access your full portion! In the natural, it's almost impossible for an owner of the property to regain ownership and access. Spiritually speaking, the enemy will attempt to possess your inheritance if you don't take action.

Dear one, we must begin to become aggressive and move forth, possessing our promises. The enemy will attempt to hurl accusations against us, but we must remain confident that what God has promised us is ours! Just as God did with Israel, promising them a land filled with milk and honey - He has promised us the same!

Are We Protecting Our Boundaries?

God gave Israel's tribes their land and described the boundaries of their portions. It was each tribe's responsibility to protect what God had given. If a squatter attempted to move into the land, they had to immediately kick them out! Let me assure you, squatters bring trials and tribulations with them. Maybe some of our trials are due to squatters possessing portions of our promise. Let me assure you of this - squatters don't give up without a fight. Why? Because they are convinced they belong there!

Believer, let me ask you a question: Are you letting the devil know what is yours? It's time to rise up and take back what rightfully belongs to us. It's also time to remind the devil that Jesus Christ defeated him on the Cross and he has to move out of your Promised Land!

Since the beginning of time, there has been an enemy who attempts to lie and steal from God's children. It began in the Garden and the enemy is still active today. Trials and tribulation will occur - Jesus promised that! (See John 16:33.) But, we must remember; the Lord promises us that He has overcome the world and, therefore, we can have peace that He will empower us to witness our inheritance - if we drive the enemy off of our land.

It's time to rise up and protect the boundaries of our promises. The Word states that if we resist the devil he has to flee! (See James 4:7b). The word "resist" means that we are to "oppose" him or be "opposite." To me this says that we cannot agree" with him or his lies! Believe me, the enemy will bombard you with lies and deceptions in order to steal from you! However, we must rise up and oppose him and speak opposite of his lies and declare only what God says about us and our future! We are never to submit ourselves to the lies of the enemy; we are only to submit ourselves unto God! (James 4:7a.)

Driving Out the "Ites" in Our Land

When we are finally determined to drive out the squatters who are in our land and resisting us, we can easily gain warfare strategy from Israel's mandate to drive out the previous tenants from their Promised Land. Allow me to quote from my book Power in the Blood: Claiming Your Spiritual Inheritance:

"In Exodus 3:8 the Lord said that there were numerous 'ites' that were living in their Promised Land. The Israelites were specifically instructed to drive out the previous tenants in their land of promise. For us, it is the same. God said that we also are to 'go in and possess the land promised to us'...Let's look closely at these enemies that block our growth...as you study these 'ites' you can recognize some of the strongholds in your own promised land." Let's take a quick look at the names of these 'ites' who were basically squatters in a land given to Israel as her spiritual inheritance: So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey - the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. (Ex 3:8, NIV)

In my book which I previously mentioned, I go into greater detail concerning the names and functions of these "ites." However, for the sake of this article I will identify them in shorter format.

1. Canaanite: this translates as "to be subdued and brought low." This is clear that the enemy desires to subdue us, bring us down, and attack our spiritual identity. It also means "to press down or humiliate." Do you continually feel pressed down...humiliated? Believer, it's time to drive out the accuser of the brethren who is falsely accusing you!

2. Hittite: this translates as "causing dread and fear." This is self-explanatory!

3. Amorite: this translates as "a talker and a slayer." Again, the accuser is at work - targeting our thoughts and slaying us with his evil words.

4. Perrizite: this translates as "a squatter, open and without walls." It's clear that this enemy is a squatter on your land. It's time to close every door, every gate in our lives and protect our boundaries!

5. Hivite: this translates as "declarer, pronouncer, living in a village." This 'ite' is similar to the Amorite as it speaks lies and opposes all that God states about us. However, it also attempts to "live" with us. Much like a familiar spirit- it opens the door to witchcraft and a Jezebel spirit. (If you are not familiar with the evil seductions of Jezebel, you may want to read my previous book Breaking the Threefold Demonic Cord: How to Discern and Defeat the Lies of Jezebel, Athaliah and Delilah.

6. Jebusite: this translates as "to be polluted and trodded down." This is another evil spirit that implies depression and oppression. It also implies defilement. This spirit is strongly connected to an unclean spirit which operates through religious legalism.

Saint of God, it's time to rise up and possess our spiritual land. Our promises hinge upon godly decrees, spiritual warfare and our faith. We must be determined to drive out the squatters and protect our borders from evil invasions of the enemy. Yes! It's possible! Remember, all things are possible to us who believe! (Matthew 19:26.)

My Prayer for You:

Lord, it is Your desire that each of Your children move into a greater realm of blessing and glory. Deuteronomy 28:2-14 states that there are blessings that will come upon us and overtake us. You have also said that goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. This means that we can never outrun Your blessings whenever we line up with Your Word! Lord, we align our thoughts, lives and belief systems to Your divine Word and will for us. Thank You, Lord, for empowering us to drive out the squatters and the "ites" that are in our Promised Land. Thank You for the power to move the known squatters out of our lives, businesses, families and ministries! In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
