When I was finished with the article, it has "done its job" – or I should say, the prophetic word did its job. It made me desire earnestly to get back to my FIRST LOVE with Jesus, the Father, and Holy Spirit.

Read it carefully and slowly. Take it in. Then I hope you'll do what I did and that's to resolve, with the Power of Christ, to regain your first love once again!

I was alone in the house the other day when suddenly a song prophetically started playing through my head. It was an old song I had never sung before (Try To Remember) and it was so strong that I felt compelled to look up the lyrics. It began:

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain so yellow

I could feel the Holy Spirit urging us to slow down and nestle into His peace like a little child on his mother's lap. (Ps 131)

Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a young and a callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow—follow

I had to look up what the meaning of callow was. To be callow is to be green, inexperienced, or a beginner. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of Rev 2:4, where the Lord speaks to the Church in Ephesus telling them, "Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love."

This is a Scripture that has troubled me often. After walking with the Lord for 33 years, I feel as though my love for God is more mature, and less self-centered now than it was at the first. As I have grown with God and experienced His unfailing faithfulness and amazing miracles, and as I have grown to know Him, my love for Him has grown deeper and stronger. So what is it about first love that God loves so much?

As I was pondering this, the words of the song continued to echo through my thoughts. So I did what the song said and I tried to remember. I tried to remember what my relationship with God was like in my days of first love with Him.

My First Love with Him – Dream Again!

As a young girl, I remember having a little journal I would write in at night before I went to sleep. It contained lyrics from songs that touched my heart, special things the Lord did for me, and little testimonies of His goodness. It was my private record of God's faithfulness. I remembered my little Good News Bible, with a rainbow on the cover and how I would write in the margins.

I remember reading the story of Stephen being stoned and the horrified exclamations I jotted beside the story when I read it for the first time. I remembered worshipping God for the littlest things He did for me that touched my heart, experiences that could never be taken from me.

As I thought of these things I began to realize that God still loves childlike wonder and awe. I went on to look at the next verse of the song:

Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow

God is calling us to dream again, like little children. The Lord is speaking to His Church and reawakening His people to dream again like we did at first. Ephesians 3 tells us that the Lord wants to do exceedingly; abundantly above all we can ask, hope or imagine. I can imagine a lot, but God wants to bring us back to a childlike, faith-filled optimism that believes all things are possible.

There is about to be a release of signs, wonders and amazing miracles that we have not even read about, and it will happen through the hands of those who will humble themselves like little children, because it is in the place of first love, that we can dream freely.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
Without a hurt, the heart is hollow

Deep in December it's nice to remember
The fire of September that made you mellow
Deep in December our hearts should remember
Then follow

Try to remember your first love, and, if you remember, follow.
