Dutch Sheets: "Someone Will Write History – Put Yourself In The Storyline"

Dutch Sheets has the heart of the Father over this nation... and years ago, when the Lord put the story of an "appeal to Heaven" on Dutch's heart... who knew how much we'd need that story and message today!

More than ever this is a posture we should have over our nation as WE, the Body – Appeal to Heaven. In fact the flag that Dutch appears with here in his word, has gone viral and many are posting it in their sphere of influence.

Read this "story" and ask the Lord where YOU fit in the storyline as Dutch shares: Join the heroes of the past and put yourself in the storyline. Someone will write history, it may as well be you.

At the end of 2013, I realized I was ending a 13-year spiritual journey. It started during a prayer and ended with a flag. An old and forgotten flag; forgotten by everyone, it seems, except God. He had evidently kept this banner in hiding for a couple of centuries – He's pretty patient – waiting in the wings of history until He was ready to reintroduce it.

And reintroduce it He has!

The "Appeal To Heaven" flag now hangs in thousands of homes, prayer rooms, sanctuaries, government buildings, and even businesses. A church in Indiana made their own version – fifteen feet by thirty feet – then made me one! Another congregation decorated the Christmas tree in their foyer with dozens of small flags. Thousands of people have small ones tucked in their Bibles, tacked to bulletin boards, or conspicuously sitting on their desks.

Others display them as lapel pins, wear them emblazoned on shirts, show them off on bumper stickers, and at least one person has the flag tattooed on his arm! Governors display the flag, as do judges and congressmen, and one was spotted in the U.S. Capitol. Another was recently flown over the Capitol of Arkansas. The other day I saw an Appeal To Heaven flag streaming behind an 18-wheeler.

It's going viral!

A Flag Was Born

George Washington and his contemporaries designed and used the "Appeal To Heaven" phrase in America's cause for freedom from Britain's tyranny. Having exhausted all peaceful possibilities of experiencing the liberty they so desired, the colonists realized their only hope for freedom was through war. Yet with Britain's great military, weaponry and wealth, contrasted by the colonist's dire lack of these resources, any military attempt to break free from British rule was preposterous, even laughable. Laughable, that is, unless God intervened. Thus General Washington commissioned the Appeal To Heaven flag to fly over our naval ships. Soon, it spread throughout the colonies.

The stance of the colonists was simple. Their "inalienable" right to freedom came from God, as did the sense of destiny they so strongly felt; He would help them. "We will appeal to Heaven!" they declared.

And a flag was born.

It is incredibly significant that America was born under a prayer movement – prayer to the God of the Bible, by the way. If America was going be a "city on a hill" (Matthew 5:14), shining the light of the Gospel to all the world – a portion of Scripture referenced by our founders and no less than 12 of our presidents – what could be more fitting than that our birth as a nation be under a canopy of prayer!

What Would Happen If We Did It Again?

Now that America has drifted so far from her roots and is controlled by spiritual giants far worse than the physical oppression she experienced under Great Britain... what would happen if we did it again?

What would happen if another desperate appeal to Heaven rose from America?  

• Would righteousness return?

• Would life again be honored?

• Would marriage be sacred once more?

• Would the youth of America experience a generation-shaping revival?

• Would an anti-God government and an apostate Church be awakened?

• Would a nation recapture her destiny and partner with God once again?

We're about to find out!

The movement has begun anew and the battle cry that birthed us will resurrect us. When our Founders commissioned a flag and called for prayer, little did they know that 240 years later God would ordain that it fly again.

Join the heroes of the past and put yourself in the storyline. Someone will write history, it may as well be you.
