International Shock: Renowned Evangelist Myles Munroe and Wife Die in Fiery Plane Crash – Unsubstantiated Reports Say Munroe's Daughter Was On the Plane – Developing...

Freeport, Grand Bahama – International evangelist and best-selling author, Dr. Myles Munroe (60) and wife, Ruth Munroe died in a plane crash yesterday on Sunday near Grand Bahama International Airport. There are some unsubstantiated reports stating that daughter, Charisa, was one of the nine passengers on board who also perished, but news is still developing.
According to The Associated Press, a small Lear 36 Executive Jet carrying nine people on board took off from Nassau and crashed in Freeport around 5pm (Freeport local time). Reports state the jet struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, which caused an explosion on impact, crashing it near the junk yard. Heavy rain was reported across the area, which may have played a role in the crash.
"The Department of Civil Aviation has been advised unofficially that the aircraft was destroyed and that there were no survivors," the Ministry of Transport and Aviation said in a statement to The Associated Press.
The recovery process has begun and authorities are on the scene as a full investigation is underway today. Asst. Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour, officer in charge of the Grand Bahama District, said that police could not release the identities of the victims until next of kin were identified.
Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife Ruth, along with a group of others, were on their way to host their Global Leadership Forum Summit in Freeport, which was scheduled to start on Monday. According to Myles Munroe International’s Facebook page the Global Leadership Forum will still go on and stated, “This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers.”
As a motivational speaker, Dr. Myles Munroe was a prominent preacher, best-selling author, life coach, government consultant and leadership mentor. He and wife Ruth were the senior pastors of (BFM) Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship. He served as a business consultant to Fortune 500 companies, corporations and to governments. Dr. Munroe travelled internationally training leaders in business, government, education, sports, media, and religion.
According to his biography page at Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship, “Dr. Munroe represents his country as the youngest recipient of the Queen's Birthday Honors of the Order of The British Empire (OBE) Award 1998 bestowed by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth of England, for his spiritual and social contributions to the national development of the Bahamas.”
