Permission Granted! The Secret: "Ask, Wait & Listen!"
"May We?" – You "May!"
In our last article, we shared how a window of divine favor has opened up in the month of May. Through this window, the Lord is granting permission, justice, and breakthrough to individuals who have been persistent in their pursuit of the knowledge of the Lord – trusting that He would respond to their desire for Him by coming to them like the rain (see Hosea 6:3).
While we believe this is a month where permission for advancement is being granted, the Lord has highlighted to us that this "permission," acceleration, and promotion will not be granted to those who ask, "May I?" Rather, it will instead be granted to those who ask, "May we?" This of course speaks to an awareness of the Body of Christ and desire for the collective family of God to be able to advance as one in these greatest of days.
In James 4, we discover a significant reason why many well-meaning prayers prayed in partnership with prophetic promises in past seasons have gone unanswered up until now. Oftentimes when promises are first given and seeds of destiny are first sown, the first enemy we must overcome is not an external opposition but instead an internal ambition that must be put to death.
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:1-3
The Lord has been deep at work in the hearts of those who truly desire to see Him receive all of the glory and all of the honor in this coming season of suddenlies. For many, this refining work of the Holy Spirit went to a new level on or around the first part of Spring this year and is now beginning to bear tangible fruit in a way that we all pray remains.
On the morning of March 4, 2014, the Lord woke me up saying, "If you will give me something small and something new – I will do something big IN you." This invitation pointed to the reality that before God will do something big FOR us or even THROUGH us, He desires to do something exceedingly abundantly more than we could ask for or think of according to the power that is at work IN us (see Ephesians 3:14-20 AMP)!
The truth is God loves you and me way too much to do something big for us or big through us before doing something big in us where we can appropriately carry the fullness of what He desires to do for and through us in this coming season. It is in this season that many are being granted a new revelation and appreciation for the love of Christ and the Person of Jesus in a way that will more fully position us to partner with what the Lord is pouring out in these coming days.
April Showers Are Bringing May Flowers
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and Sadducees of His day for being able to forecast the coming weather by looking at natural signs but not being able to discern the times in which they lived (see Matthew 16:1-4 and Luke 12:54-56). While some have misinterpreted this passage to read that we should not recognize the spiritual application of these natural signs, Scripture points to and verifies the important fact that ever since time began God has used the stars, the sun, the moon, and natural weather patterns to bring understanding and confirmation of the time in which we live.
Just as the Apostle Paul encouraged us in 1 Corinthians 15:46, "...the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual," our recent weather patterns in the Southeast point toward a greater promise for our nation:
"So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19). (Photo via freeimages.com)
God is raising up a standard and is preparing to release the floods of revival throughout our nation and the nations of the world. Just as recent tornadoes brought in the rain and these torrential rains caused severe flooding, there are spiritual winds beginning to blow that will root out and pull down old ways of doing things to make room for the new things that God is desiring to build and to plant in these days (see Jeremiah 1:9-10). With these winds of change beginning to blow, we will also see spiritual tides begin to turn as water levels in the Church begin to rise and an insatiable spiritual thirst within the Church increases (see Psalm 42:1, 63:1; Isaiah 44:3; and John 7:37-38).
Fresh Oil
Along with this rising spiritual tide, get ready for a tangible infusion of joy along with a fresh perspective, clear vision, and renewed excitement for life. Many who have felt closed in on all sides will now experience new growth that will enable and empower them to break through some of the hardest places and bloom brightly in a new way.
This is a season of promotion and fresh oil. This fresh anointing will cause many who have felt like they were just "hanging on" to begin to flourish in a new way and, in some cases, be catapulted into a new place with a fresh grace as they begin to run their true race at an accelerated pace.
But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil... Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing. Psalm 92:10, 13-14
The Secret: "Ask, Wait, And Listen!"
A dear sister in our fellowship recently had a dream on the eve of her birthday where Holy Spirit, as a faceless messenger, was imparting divine revelation and understanding in a large corporate setting. In this dream, not only were there prophetic downloads being released like honey scrolls to the hungry, there were also strategies being released for how to access and receive personal understanding and application of the secrets and mysteries of God that have been reserved for these last days.
After sharing, Holy Spirit took His seat and whispered into this sister's ear these precious words that found a home in her heart; He said, "All you have to do is ask, wait, and listen," followed by an exclamatory statement, "Now you know My secret!"
This was King Solomon's secret as well! King Solomon, both the wisest person to ever walk the earth and the man who had the incredible honor of building the Lord a house that He would choose to call home – knew that it was in his asking, listening, watching, and waiting on the Spirit of Wisdom that he would find life, obtain favor from the Lord, and have access to an understanding of the greatest mysteries of his day.
Blessed is the man who listens to Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors. For whoever finds Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 8:34-35
This was the very insight into the ministry of Holy Spirit that Jesus gave to His disciples when introducing His coming to them as the "Spirit of Truth." Not only did Jesus point to the "ask and listen" ministry of the Holy Spirit, but He also identified that the purpose of this ministry is to take of what the Father has given to Jesus and to then give it to us!
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine... John 16:13-15
The Gift
Throughout Scripture, the giving of the Holy Spirit is referred to as "the gift of the Holy Spirit." When verifying your identity, often the first security question you are asked is your personal date of birth. God is releasing Holy Spirit gifts in connection with and tailor-made to your unique identity and for the purpose of releasing inheritance to you as sons and daughters of your Heavenly Father. While not everyone will receive these gifts, those who ask for Holy Spirit are promised they will.
So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you...For everyone who asks receives...If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him! Luke 11:9a, 10a & 13
This May, I want to encourage you to begin to ask the Lord for more of Holy Spirit. Ask for a greater sensitivity to Him, a deeper love for Him, and an increased awareness of how He seeks to glorify Jesus in and through your life. For it is the Father's desire to give Him to you in this way – we need only ask and receive.
