Dear Friend of Israel,
Right now, children all over Israel are getting their Purim costumes ready. They are decorating hand-made masks and coming up with creative ways to conceal their identities for a celebration they look forward to all year.
Why do we hide our true identities on Purim?
Purim is all about what is hidden — what we cannot see. Not only did Esther (whose name means hidden) hide her true identity as a Jewess until that epic moment when the tables turned, and she boldly stood on behalf of her people. But, God Himself is hidden in the Book of Esther. His name does not appear in the entire text!
What is the point of Purim?
Purim is the perfect moment to pause and take a fresh look at the land and people of Israel. I know you understand the significance of modern-day Israel and recognize the hand of God at work among His chosen people. This is what we see and focus on every day.
But if you look a little closer you will see hundreds of thousands of children in Israel today whose lives and futures are limited by the lack of the basic necessities of life...
These children are impoverished, refugees and orphans. They are hidden from the mainstream—Most of the world does not even know about the poverty crisis in Israel.
IT'S SO EASY TO FORGET ABOUT THESE CHILDREN. But the Scriptures tell us that the Jewish nation owes its very existence to a refugee orphan girl named Esther who lived 2,500 years ago.
OF ALL THE SEASONS OF THE YEAR, THIS IS THE TIME TO ESPECIALLY REMEMBER THESE CHILDREN IN NEED.
Today you can be the one who makes a difference in the lives of the needy children in Israel...
- Your generous gift of $154 today will completely feed a child in Israel for the next month.
- Your generous gift of $72 will provide a prepaid food shopping card for a struggling family to fill their pantry.
- Your generous gift of $39 will provide a special Purim meal for a hungry family.
Please help Israel's hidden poor today. They are counting on you to boldly take a stand for them.
