Dear Praying Americans:
I so appreciate each one of you praying through this current 17-day
prayer thrust. The Holy Sprit had me write that prayer thrust while in
Washington, DC last Sunday morning. Pastor Dutch sheets and I met there and
were privileged to minister throughout the city. We were actually
ministering exactly at the time when President Bush went before the nation
concerning Iraq. I look forward to receiving the prophetic words that were
released during that time. God’s timing is so sovereign and perfect.
We had scheduled these meetings two months ago. While we were there
the Lord began to overwhelm Dutch with His burden for our nation. I
encouraged Dutch to write the burden so that we might pray effectively. I
just received this in the last hour. Please read and begin to pray. Give a
copy to your pastor. Encourage a prayer meeting between now and November
5. We are seeing the Spirit of God change our nation. We cannot grow slack
in our praying at this time.
Also, pray for Pastor Dutch and I as we visit all 50
states in the coming year. This encourages the Body of Christ and its
leadership to move forward in God’s redemptive purpose for every state,
causing our nation to become whole again. Continue to use your 17-day
prayer focus. I will send out another prayer focus on October 24 to keep us
praying in this time frame.

URGENT PRAYER ALERT TO SHIFT THE JUDICIAL
BRANCH IN AMERICA

While In Washington, DC this
week, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me the need for another urgent call to
prayer for our nation. I believe the urgency of this prayer alert is close,
if not equal to that which occurred for the 2000 presidential elections. I
know it is somewhat lengthy, but please bear with me and read it in its
entirety.
THE WALLS ARE REBUILT, BUT THE
GATES ARE NOT IN PLACE
"The gates represent the courts"
The passage of scripture the
Holy Spirit brought to me while in DC was Nehemiah 6:1-2. Concerning the
restoration of Jerusalem, Nehemiah says in essence, “The walls are rebuilt,
but the gates are not in place.” Instantly I heard the Holy Spirit say,
“This is true for America at this time, and the ‘gates’ represent the
courts.
The next branch of
government that must be shifted is the Judicial Branch.” I am
certain this was the Lord speaking to me and, like Nehemiah and his “gates”,
I knew immediately that our journey toward revival in
America was absolutely dependent upon
seeing our gates, the courts, restored.
As I prayed for
confirmation, I was reminded that in biblical times, the gates of a city
very often symbolized the courts, as well as government in general, since
this was often where judges sat to hear cases, and city officials met to
determine important matters. The gates, very literally, were the
“courtroom”. One such reference is Zechariah 8:16, “…judge with truth and
judgment for peace in your gates.” The word judge is shaphat—“hear a
case and render a decision” and judgment is mishpat—“a verdict
pronounced judicially; a sentence”. As you can see, these are literally
judicial words. (For other references to this please see Genesis 34: 20,
Psalms 127:5, Ruth 4:1-6, & 2 Samuel 15:2.)
SATAN'S USE OF THE COURTS
As many of you know, the
most effective “gate” or entry point Satan has used to force humanistic,
anti-biblical ideologies into the fabric of America has been our judicial
system. Decisions which promote biblical immorality, the forcing of God out
of our culture, and even the taking of innocent life (abortion) have flowed
out of this now largely anti-God judicial system. (I know there are many
good judges in America. I am not implying that all of them are anti-God,
but that the overall system has produced this effect.) Isaiah 59:9-15 is our
sad condition. Please take the time to read it.
As a part of reversing this,
we now have a godly president—one who prays and reads his Bible daily —who
is attempting to appoint wise, constitutionally sound, and righteous judges
to the bench. In an attempt to keep this from happening, those with other
ideologies on the Judiciary Committee of the Senate have begun an
unprecedented effort to block his appointments. They have the authority to
do so and are keeping his appointees from even getting to the entire Senate
body to be voted on. It is unprecedented in its scope and is most certainly
spiritual in its roots, though I’m sure those involved would not understand
this. It is a spiritual battle for the soul of this nation!
WE, THE BODY OF CHRIST MUST
NOT ALLOW THIS TO BE A REPUBLICAN VS. DEMOCRAT ISSUE
It is not!
What is God asking we, the
Body of Christ, to do? First we must not allow this to be first and
foremost a political issue, i.e., Republican vs.. Democrat. Therefore, I am
not asking you to pray that the Republicans regain control of the
Senate. I want my dear Democratic brothers and sisters to feel just as
peaceful in joining this prayer effort as I do my Republican ones. Let’s
remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood (see Ephesians
6:12).
Let us simply pray that God
shifts the judicial system of America, including the removing of this
blockade of godly judges in the Senate, in whatever ways He chooses. Whether
God changes the hearts and minds of those who are causing the blockages,
which is certainly preferable—we must always pray with mercy and
non-judgmental hearts for those in authority, even those with whom we
disagree with--or due to hardness of heart removes their control, let’s
leave that to His wisdom. This will enable all of us as believers,
Democrats and Republicans alike, to pray together for God’s Kingdom
to come and His will to be done in this situation (see Matthew 6:10). Let’s
make prayer toward biblical ideologies of truth and righteousness the issue,
not a party affiliation.
Having said this, however, I
want to reiterate the seriousness of what I feel. This judicial issue is a
major key to determining whether revival or further spiritual decline occurs
for America. We will either see this “gate” properly restored or
America will turn farther away from God.
Let’s pray Isaiah
1:26: “Then I will restore your judges as at the first, and your
counselors as at the beginning; after that you will be called the city of
righteousness, a faithful city. “
21 DAYS OF PRAYER AND
FASTING
I am asking for those who
feel this warning is from the Lord to intensify their prayer efforts by
doing several things:
-
A national fast be held
during the last 21 days preceding and including the Election Day. (This
would begin October 16th and continue through November 5th.)
Prayer meetings on each of these 21 nights are needed.
-
Incorporate significant
amounts of prayer into church services. Perhaps turn some entire services
(Wednesday nights, Sunday nights, even Sunday mornings) into times of
intercession for this purpose. If not entire services, at least give
major blocks of time to prayer.
-
Additional prayer
meetings, both day and evening, be orchestrated for this purpose.
"HE CHANGES THE TIMES AND THE
SEASONS
--HE REMOVES KINGS AND SETS UP
KINGS"
Daniel 2:21
states: “He changes the times and the seasons, He removes kings and sets
up kings, and He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have
understanding.” This can and must happen. It will be
realized, however, only if we heed this imperative call to intensified,
fervent prayer.
If you agree with
the urgency of this message, please pass it on to your contacts and ask them
to do the same. Let us unite in this cause and see God turn our nation back
to Him.
We have
made great progress in the past few years toward the turning of this nation
back to God. We are so close to revival—in fact, I believe, though it is
not yet visible, we are in the beginning stages.
Let’s not
waver or grow weary now. Let’s press on to fullness.
