A Year of "Activation"
Over the last few years, God has been emphasizing the "awakening" of the Body of Christ. We have been arising from the ashes and from slumber, shaking off the dust and positioning ourselves for a revolution. 2013 will be a year where we transition from being awakened into the "activation" of the next assignment of our destiny.
Recently we hosted a yearly Prophetic Roundtable with many five-fold leaders from around the United States. Every year we come together for several days and position ourselves, not only to hear and release what God is saying for the coming year, but also to make sure that we are stewarding the prophetic words that have been spoken in prior years and decades. Our mandate is to reverence the word of the Lord enough to remember what He has spoken and faithfully carry it out.
Hebrews 11:7 reads: "By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark..."
Noah reverenced the word of the Lord enough to prepare for its fulfillment. Daniel and other prophetic people in Scripture decreed the release of a new season and also received major end-time prophecies while reading over and stewarding words given to people in prior decades and generations (see Daniel 9).
This year was no exception; as soon as we sat down and began the Roundtable, the Spirit of the Lord began to download mysteries of Heaven and strategies to carry them out. The "Sons of Issachar" are supposed to not only be aware of the times and seasons, but they are also supposed to know how to instruct the Body of Christ ? to put apostolic feet to prophetic hope. We started by highlighting a word that Bob Jones received in 2008 about the coming "Glory Train." Bob received that this train would arrive in this season.
As we discussed the relevancy and timeliness of this word, a good friend of mine began to speak about how someone had accidently pocket-dialed him and left a message of ambient background noise. As he listened to try and discover who had called him, he could hear that the person who was unknowingly leaving the message was on a train. As he listened, the voice of the conductor came over the loudspeaker and said:
"We are approaching Salem, and it's time to find your assigned seat. All those in the observation car please find your assigned seat..."
The Great Conductor is now calling all those who have a ticket to ride to come out of the "observation" car into a new assignment. We are coming into Salem, the meaning of which has its origins in the word "shalom," which literally means "authority over chaos." Hearing the conductor's voice and finding your assigned seat is the first step in having authority over the rising chaos. God is the God of perfect timing. Can you imagine a better season than this to be granted authority over chaos? This is the season that God has chosen to "activate" you.
On January 8, the Lord began speaking to me strongly about the grace that was being released as God is giving mandates to mobilizers all over the world. 2013 will begin a season where the Holy Spirit commissions you into a new phase of your assignment. The season of confusion about your assignment is over. Those who have been observers for whatever reason are being called to find their assigned seats and get activated. Many have been waiting and watching to see what will unfold, but there is an "apostolic" mindset being released that will activate the observer.
New Nehemiahs
This mandate is not just for a few leaders; God has released the heart of a mobilizer in His people as He places the vision and mandate for your next assignment upon you. In what I was shown, Nehemiah represents an "apostolic mindset" as well as a person or company of people. He was like James of the New Testament who thought that faith without works is dead. God is now releasing blueprints and filling our hearts with a supernatural mandate, taking us beyond the flow of our own efforts and releasing the manifestation of the dream that is in His heart to build and to restore.
In the Book of Nehemiah, chapter 5, Nehemiah addresses the nobles and leaders and changes the spiritual climate as a foundation for their activation. He imparts a new belief system of "all hands on deck" and purifies the connection between leaders and the powerful people they serve. God is going to honor five-fold leaders with a fresh new perspective on how to mobilize the Body of Christ. There is also a new breed of leadership emerging in this "activation": they are sons and daughters who have been waiting to be mobilized without limitation.
Isaiah 61:1-4 reads:
"'The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.'
"And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations." (highlighted emphasis, mine)
You are being mobilized to rebuild sections of the Kingdom that are in need of repair and restoration. While new gates are being built and the Kingdom is expanding, God is also using the burnt stones that have been used by Him in prior decades for a renewed purpose. I believe that there will continue to be increased efforts to rebuild the temple and parts of the city of Jerusalem, not only as a physical sign of Biblical prophecy, but also a spiritual sign that God is releasing the heart of a mobilizer in His people all across the globe.
Breaking Off Limitations: Enlarging Your Dream
Let's take a look at how Nehemiah received his new assignment. In Chapter 1, Nehemiah's heart is broken with news from his brother about the people of God and the city of Jerusalem.
Nehemiah 1:2-4 reads:
"...and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me, 'The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.'
"So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of Heaven."
Through these Scriptures, we get a front row seat to watch as God places a mandate on this man's life. However, what is interesting is that it is easy to just assume that Nehemiah is qualified or has some sort of natural experience for the mandate. But the Bible suggests that he was more acquainted with the kitchen than proficient in constructing a wall, or a city, much less an entire people group. Nehemiah was a cupbearer! This reveals that God does not necessarily qualify you based on your natural experience. What is equally interesting is that Nehemiah found favor and was activated by the king for his next assignment because he had served faithfully at his table.
A reward is coming for those who have faithfully served at the King's table. Even though it may feel like you have served without Heaven noticing, God's favor and reward are about to launch you into your next season. Those who have diligently sought for Him are about to encounter Him as "The Rewarder."
Hebrew 11:6 reads: "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Highlighted emphasis mine.)
With a mindset of limitation, you may often think that you are limited to what you are naturally capable of doing or are limited to what you have already done. That mindset causes you to become an observer during new seasons and also causes you to consume instead of contribute. If you continue to agree with this lie, you become disempowered in the Spirit and in relationships and begin to emphasize getting your needs met rather than the reality that you are anointed to contribute.
If this mindset becomes a culture, then entire sections of the Church begin to make excuses for why they can't contribute: age, social standing, affluence, disabilities, gifting, has to be the perfect timing, provision, etc., just to name a few. But, just to ensure that Nehemiah's mandate and the provision for it was supernatural and that there is never an inopportune time with God, He decides to activate Nehemiah to rebuild an entire city and a people group during a famine (see Nehemiah 5:3).
The spirit of limitation also manifests when we fear that people will think or find that we that we are less than qualified for our assignment. Your assignment should always be bigger than your capabilities or else you have already limited yourself, and those who are in relationship with you, to the natural. This fear is meant to lead you away from the supernatural, and therefore must become an enemy of the Church.
Some are limited to just observing because of wounding or hurt. It is true that the Church has not been perfect in handling our gift, but this new activation is accelerating you beyond unhealed wounds and the fear that the Body of Christ will limit you again. Accountability and scrutiny are also a significant part of allowing ourselves to be activated. God is delivering us from shame and pride and giving us a heart to love, correction, and instruction ? even when it comes through imperfect vessels.
As a mobilizer, it is a huge frustration when people come up to me and say, "We love your church or training center and we've decided to come and be a part because we are just not getting fed at our current church...," or when I used to hear statements like, "That's not my gift..." as a reason why people were not activated. Some were waiting for the perfect, end-time assignment and would cherry-pick what the Lord was asking them to do instead of doing what their hands found to do with all of their might. In this season, those who will be activated will not only hear God for specific mandates, they will also have a heart to just show up and roll up their sleeves and be instantly activated by the Holy Spirit. One of the names often used in Scripture for the Holy Spirit is "The Helper" ? the One who shows up to help.
Iran: Raising Up Mobilizers
Nehemiah, Daniel, Esther, and Mordecai all received their mandates in Persia. The anointing that fell on them from this place changed the world and opened new portals of revelation for centuries after them. Biblical Persia is modern day Iran. Watch for the mobilizers that get chosen by God from Iran to bless Israel and the United States. What a prophetic picture of God's grace in an hour when there is much volatility.
Honoring the Old: Activating the New
Nehemiah 1:8-9 reads: "Remember the word which You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful I will scatter you among the peoples; but if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote part of the heavens, I will gather them from there and will bring them to the place where I have chosen to cause My name to dwell.'"
After receiving God's heart and mandate for this new assignment, Nehemiah steps into activation by remembering and then reminding God of what He had said to Moses and his generation. When King David had received instruction from the Lord to build a temple where there was no separation from the Glory of God, he first went back to honor God at the old "Tabernacle of Moses." Even though the Ark (presence) was not there, the tabernacle was still functioning and David honored the prior move of God.
A secret to being activated by Heaven to establish something fresh, in a way that has never been done before, is to continue to honor and carry out what God has said to a prior generation. Even if it seems God is not present in the old model, we want to be faithful to bring out of His treasure the old and new; David understood this. As I mentioned earlier, as Daniel was honoring and stewarding God's word, which was previously given to Jeremiah (70 years prior), he was suddenly activated into the "now" and he was granted keys to see the end-time activation of Heaven and the Church. We have been stewarding the words that God has given for decades and to prior generations...and now it's time to activate!
What Does "Activation" Look Like?
Activate: definition
1. To set in motion; make active or more active.
2. To organize or create (a military unit, for example): "activate the National Guard."
3. Chemistry. To accelerate a reaction in, as by heat.
4. Physics. To make (a substance) radioactive.
5. Biology. To convert (certain biological compounds) into biologically active derivatives.
Salt is made of two elements: sodium and chloride (chlorine). Both sodium and chlorine are very deadly by themselves. But when put together they become salt and activate freshness, flavor, and preserve what it touches for decades. In this next seat assignment, you will find yourself next to someone who is meant to activate you. The Holy Spirit wants to activate a new side of your heart by bringing different and diverse people into your life to add freshness, flavor, and longevity.
There are a few ways to get activated and/or to accelerate a reaction in someone:
1. By being around like-minded people who encourage and stir you up.
2. By being around an opposite: These are the people who don't easily agree with you and are not just like you. These are the ones we tend to avoid.
3. God's commission and favor, which requires both of the above. Greatness is born in the tension of iron sharpening iron.
Recently, my wife was flying out to New Orleans and I volunteered to book the flight for her. What I didn't realize is that God was about to give me further understanding to activate the Body of Christ for this next season. As I finished paying for her ticket online, I clicked to the next screen to choose her seat assignment. A diagram of the plane appeared, but it would not let me assign her to a seat. I clicked to the next screen, to see if it would let me assign her a seat for the second leg of her flight, but it did not. The only leg of the flight that I was able to get her an assigned seat on was the leg home; her final destination.
In this next activation process, you may not be able to pick your seat assignment or the person sitting next to you. While you may receive specific revelation as to your mandate, there will be times when the Lord will not give you the specifics of your assignment until you show up, with sleeves rolled up, ready to serve. One seat assignment that we can be assured of is the final leg home...selah!
Some are being repositioned because they have been observing; others are being repositioned because they have been faithful. In the repositioning, let the power of fear be broken off of you, and don't just wait to receive the clear mandate before you enter in ? let the Holy Spirit "show up" in you as you are instantly activated.
When I was a boy, I used to watch a "Super Friends" cartoon called "The Wonder Twins." Whenever there was devastation, these wonder twins would bump fists to activate their special powers and say "Wonder Twin powers, activate," then they would declare and take on the form or shape of whatever was needed in order to make a difference. For instance, to put out a fire in the city, one of the "Wonder Twins" would turn into a giant eagle and the other would turn into water and the eagle would pick up the water and fly over the city, extinguishing devastation and saving the people.
What are the people carrying who are closest to you right now? The "Wonder Twins" had the supernatural power and ability to adjust themselves to take on the form of whatever was needed for the current situation. Activation is coming to those who are ready to serve. The following Scriptures are a great combination and describe the pure foundation and motive in those who are now being activated by the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 9:10a reads: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might..." (Bold emphasis mine.)
Colossians 3:23 reads: "Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." (Bold emphasis mine.)
It is now time to get activated in every sphere and take on the shape and form of God in every place until the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our God and His Christ. Business partnerships, leadership teams, and friendships are being assembled by these emerging mobilizers who are not afraid of being assigned next to unique, peculiar, and powerful people. You will find that the basis of your next assignment rests in the solid foundation that God loves you and has placed you on the earth for such a time as this. He knew when and where you would live and the diversity of people that your destiny would require. No longer do you have to sit next to someone who is just like you.
Favor That Activates
Nehemiah's favor releases supernatural provision!
Nehemiah 2:6-9 reads: "...So it pleased the king to send me, and I gave him a definite time. And I said to the king, 'If it please the king, let letters be given me for the governors of the provinces beyond the River, that they may allow me to pass through until I come to Judah, and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress which is by the temple, for the wall of the city and for the house to which I will go.' And the king granted them to me because the good hand of my God was on me.
"Then I came to the governors of the provinces beyond the River and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me officers (captains) of the army and horsemen."
Activation Declaration
You are being activated by the King and have traded the endorsement of man for the endorsement (epistles/letters) of Heaven, which is the highest endorsement:
May God grant you favor with the kings, governors, and leaders who keep the King's forest, and may you grant favor to the blossoming trees of righteousness who are growing up all around you. May you now receive spiritual and natural provision for your own household and for the gates of the fortress of the Heavenly Kingdom that you are called to restore. May the "good hand of the Lord" be upon you. May God grant to you captains, officers, and stalwart leaders to assist you in the work of your heavenly assignment, and may He give to you eyes to see the angelic horsemen that surround you. May you be granted the courage, bravery, selflessness, and truth of combined generations who have gone before you and may you receive this activation with the heart of a mobilizer in order to activate others in the Kingdom, in the mighty name of Jesus, amen!
