Kim Clement: Finding Joseph ? Your Lost Promise

by Kim Clement
Feb 20, 2013

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

Find a prophet in today's world and you will find a man or woman who is majoring on the Scriptures; who is bringing old and new stories to the forefront, blending them together into a fresh Rhema Word from the Throne Room today.

Here Kim Clement, a prophet for today, brings Abraham, who was a prophet for his day, and Abraham's great grandson, Joseph, together in one "telling of the great Exodus story". The story of the promise of protection of Joseph and all of Israel in time of famine and the ensuing great Exodus of Israel provides the backdrop for a prophetic word FOR YOU in this present hour. Put yourself, and the promises you've had that you KNOW are from God, right in the midst of this telling of the "Joseph Story".

God Always Keeps His Promises

Read this with me:

"So Jacob set out for Egypt with all his possessions. And when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac. During the night God spoke to him in a vision. 'Jacob! Jacob!' He called. 'Here I am,' Jacob replied.

"'I am God, the God of your father,' the voice said. 'Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation. I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. You will die in Egypt, but Joseph will be with you to close your eyes.'" (Genesis 46:1-4).

Isn't that odd? God would make Israel a great nation while oppressed, in slavery, under the cruel grip of a Pharaoh who no longer knew Joseph. It seems that this is Israel's mark of greatness ? to become great while surrounded by cruel and hateful enemies. Think of Jacob's history. He was on the move most of the time with the exception of the 20 years he spent serving for his future.

Jacob fled to the country of Syria; Israel served for a spouse, and for a wife he tended sheep. By a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved. Hosea 12:12-13

The promises of God have always delivered and preserved Israel.

I was not in Israel to prophesy something new, but rather to reinforce these precious promises by proclaiming from Jerusalem to Masada ? "ISRAEL IS FOREVER!" The mouth of a modern day prophet would simply remind God and His people that no matter who comes against Israel, it would remain His portion. "My people are My portion," He proclaimed from the beginning.

God told Jacob to leave his home and travel to a strange and faraway land. But God reassured him by promising to go with him and take care of him. God reminded Jacob of the covenant promise he had made to Abraham: He would be the father of a great nation (see Genesis 15:1-6). While in Egypt, the Israelites did become a great nation, and Jacob's descendants eventually returned to Canaan. Jacob himself never returned to Canaan, but God promised that his descendants would return. That Jacob would die in Egypt with Joseph at his side was God's promise to Jacob so that he would never know the pain of being lonely again.

The Book of Exodus recounts the story of Israel's slavery in Egypt for 400 years (fulfilling God's words to Abram in Genesis 15:13-16):

"Then He said to Abram: 'Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age...'"

God made several promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and He fulfilled them all, even though these men wavered in their faith from time to time and did not always live as they should. Fortunately, God's actions in the world will be fulfilled even with our struggles. He has plans and will accomplish them ? and God always keeps His promises.

Joseph Represents the Prophetic Voice In Your Family

While standing on Masada praising and proclaiming His promises with my prophetic team, I felt a warm presence of God for the future of His people, the Christians and Jews alike. Enemies surround us and yet..."I WILL MAKE YOUR FAMILY A GREAT NATION."

Warriors, find Joseph! This is the fulfillment of God's promise to you. What did Joseph represent? Remember, Joseph carried a promise of greatness. He dreamed of greatness, rulership, victory and influence. His brothers sold him ? got rid of the bearer of their future because of jealousy. Joseph represents the prophetic voice in your family.

Don't sell your greatness, your future; don't attempt to kill the voices that carry a positive message and bright future simply because of the unbelief that rages in you from time to time. If you've doubted that you could ever become a "great nation," or in other words, an affluent, powerful person, and you've cast that word into a pit, then go and find it ? because it will take you from slavery to kingship.

When Israel sold their brother, the prophetic voice, to Egypt, they went from being kings to slaves. And Egypt benefited from Joseph's gift and presence.

Welcome to greatness and becoming a great nation. We are conquering mountains, and 2013 is our year of acceleration, advancement, and progress.

Make An Offering To the Lord

Take a moment and do what Jacob did before God showed him what He would do when he joined his Joseph.

When Jacob learns that Joseph is alive, he moves from Canaan to Egypt with his entire family.

So Jacob set out for Egypt with all his possessions. And when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac. During the night God spoke to him in a vision. "Jacob! Jacob!" He called. "Here I am," Jacob replied.

"I am God, the God of your father," the voice said. "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation. I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. You will die in Egypt, but Joseph will be with you to close your eyes." Genesis 46:1-4

As you give your offering I pray that God will speak to you and lead you to the place where you will be joined with your greatness.
