Jeremy Caris:
A Season of Trials and Triumphs
Usually when God speaks to me, it's in the form of pictures and encounters. But every once in a while I will clearly hear words or phrases recurring in my spirit that I can't shake. Over the last month, I've heard two specific phrases repeated many times, even at the oddest moments. I believe these two phrases are a word in season for the Body of Christ.
Trials and Triumphs
The first phrase is, "It's a season of trials and triumphs." There is trouble on every side, with help from Heaven around every corner. I have had the most bizarre, ridiculous problems to deal with lately – almost every other day. After a few of these over a short period of time, it becomes obvious that I am not fighting against flesh and blood. Many of these problems have seemed to be insurmountable. Yet, every time I face them I pray, and typically within a few hours they are no longer an issue.
The enemy is working hard to exaggerate every issue and to stir up havoc all around. I don't know about you, but I get tired of dealing with trials. I get frustrated and irritated. I was complaining about this to God the other day, and He reminded me of similar seasons that I've gone through in the past. The fruit of those seasons was that God taught me to fight. He taught me to get fed up with the enemy's nonsense and to take dominion over his works quickly and boldly.
A season of trials is a season of promotion. You will triumph if you don't quit, because God only allows you to face what you are prepared to face with Him. That measuring line is almost always higher than you expect it to be. But, if you're in a season of trials, God is offering you a promotion. He's allowing you to have the opportunity to step into a new level of the boldness and dominion of Christ. Most likely, He's giving you exactly what you've asked for; you just didn't realize what the journey was going to be.
Sometimes You've Just Gotta
The second phrase I keep hearing is, "Sometimes you've just gotta ___." One reason I haven't released this sooner is because I always hear this phrase without a final word. On a recent night in worship, God's presence surrounded me and I heard this phrase again, knowing I needed to release it. So I told God that I can't release a partial word; the key part seems to be missing. After saying this, it was as if God tilted His head to the side and asked, "Says who?"
Sometimes you've just gotta. Much of the Church has grown into an understanding of being sons of God, but I have often felt like many have forgotten that God is also our Master. Not our task master, but our glorious Master. He knows what's best for us. He knows exactly how to shape us. He knows how to transform us. He knows what each of us needs, and what each of us needs to do.
God is on a mission to mold you into the image of Christ. Maybe in this season the phrase for you is, "Sometimes you've just gotta stand." Maybe it's, "Sometimes you've just gotta press through." Maybe it's, "Sometimes you've just gotta let go." The bottom line is that sometimes you've just got to trust that God knows exactly what you need for your journey. You must realize that God will capitalize on every trial and triumph to shape you and transform you into to the image of Christ so that you can walk in the victory of Christ.
