by John Belt

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

When I read through this word by John Belt, it reminded me of the journey many have been on. There is a time of testing and a time of blessings overflowing. It seems that we plant seeds deep down in our testing time and then we reap the harvest of our blessings. Be encouraged by this word.

We pray THE ELIJAH LIST encourages you. The Elijah List is a FOR-PROFIT ministry so any gift in Money or "in-kind" (such as a car), will NOT be tax-deductible. Even Jesus took donations but had to pay taxes on what He received. I truly believe God will bless you if you bless us. Donate online at: https://www.elijahlist.com/donations/donation.php. We thank YOU, our dear readers, for blessing us with your generosity.

John Belt1. New Horses, New Leaders, High Places and Serving the Purposes of God

Matthew 23:11-12 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

I had a vision where there were new horses ready in this season. These were friendly horses that were relational and approachable. These horses represent a new breed of leadership where love and relationship are not a side item but of utmost importance. Another aspect of these new leaders will be "a heart of servanthood." This will be at the core of who they are. Because of their servant heart they will be exalted to high places.

2. When the Thief Is Found

Exodus 22:7 ...if the thief is found, he shall pay double.

I had another vision where the thief had been discovered. If you have been stolen from, ask the Lord to expose the thief in your life. When you see this activity clearly, then command the thief to give back what he has taken with interest. God promises a double return. Realize what the Lord has given to you. Do not acquiesce your authority to the enemy, but stand your ground. Take your authority.

3. Let the Lord Take Your Heart Through Process

John 21:17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep."

Just as Peter had to go through a series of events to be ready to be used in an extraordinary way, realize that God has a process for all of us. What the Lord worked in Peter was a new identity, a dependency upon the Lord so that he would not trust in His own strength. Learn to lean on the strength of God, not taking things into your own hands. God also wants to work out of us any "retaliation." Jesus was the Lamb of God that did not open His mouth to speak against His accusers. He did not retaliate.

4. Walk In Discernment, Be An Influence For the Kingdom of God

Philippians 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Keep your discernment. Love and discernment work together. They always do. We do not turn on love and turn off discernment. We do not turn on discernment and turn off love. Rather, we use them both together. True discernment comes from the Holy Spirit Who pours the love of God in our hearts. Jesus comes to bring the cure. That cure can only happen because He sees what is needed.

5. Keep Your Heart Free and Walk In Love

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Be willing to reconcile with others who are embittered against you. Some may be in a bitter place not wanting to reconcile. Maybe they "cut you off" because of their bitterness. Just realize you need to be willing to be a peacemaker. Pray that the Lord will tenderize their heart and fill them with the love of God. Bitterness blinds people. He who has a bitter root defiles many because they spread evil reports with gossip. Walk in love and pray that God gives them the gift of repentance.

6. Get Understanding on Sowing Seed and Harvest Time

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Make an effort to understand the power of sowing and reaping. I'm sure that there are some who are "turned off" by different variations of this teaching. But just because someone does not represent it right does not mean it is not valid. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. You may also be throwing away your intended blessing. God many times uses the thing that offends your natural mind to bless you as a test to see if you will receive it in that form. Jesus came to the religious leaders in a form they did not expect. Because they would not receive the way He came, they blew their God-given opportunity to receive Him.

People can get touchy on this subject because most have presented it in the context of finances. It is very valid in that context, but not limited to that. Realize that all God has entrusted to us we are the steward of. In that way, all that we have is seed that can be sown into different places. Our time, work, money, prayers, worship is all seed that is sown. One plants, one waters, but God gives the increase! If we want increase in our life, both in the spirit and in the natural, we need to get the revelation of seedtime and harvest. Who doesn't want a harvest in their lives? I believe we all do. But we have to sow in order to reap.

7. Drink His New Wine!

Hebrews 1:8-9 But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions."

I had an amazing experience where I fell face down intoxicated, drinking in the new wine of His Presence and laughing as the Holy Spirit was saturating me. It brought such an amazing wonderful weakness in His Presence. The Lord is going to pour out some vintage wine this year! It is going to be good! Take time to not only seek the Lord, but to receive from the Lord in His Presence. Allow God to fill you with His joy. For it is the joy that comes in His Presence that strengthens us. God will give you a fresh anointing as you simply receive in His Presence. Jesus was anointed with the oil of joy far above all others. How much more do we need His oil upon our lives.

Keep His song in your heart,

John Belt

John Belt and his wife Brandi have been in pastoral ministry for close to two years. In this time he has found the "main thing" is to find your identity in Christ alone. Over the past decade John has engaged in both writing and music. From the early age of 12 he has learned various instruments, including guitar and keyboard. John finally was able to create a fully packaged instrumental CD called The Soaking Presence, giving way to the Soaking Presence Series of instrumentals that are non-stop flowing music for the purpose of prayer and devotion to God.
