Introduction from Cheryl Amabile: Like many of you, I woke on Saturday morning to the news that the trigger in the Middle East had been pulled. Overnight, the U.S. and Israel carried out pre-emptive strikes against Iran, and retaliatory attacks swept across Israel and other Gulf nations. In these moments of conflict, our prayers must transcend the arc of ballistic missiles and military drones; they must engage the heavenly realm. It is for this reason that we want to share important prophetic insight that is guiding our intercession right now. Let's pray with confidence as we declare God's Word, knowing that He will perform it. Break the Bow of Elam On Saturday morning, my phone exploded with "RED ALERTS" as volley after volley of missiles targeted population centers in Israel. Almost immediately, I received a text from Lou Engle: "It is now. We must declare Jeremiah 49." Our three-day Purim fast was set to begin on March 1, 2026—but war didn't wait. Lou's message pointed us back to two dreams we had recently pulled from the archives, originally received during a corporate fast in New England where we were led to restrain the Prince of Persia. In the first dream, the '49ers were flying in on a mission, and the Lord wanted to speak to us from Jeremiah 49.
Jeremiah 49 contains prophecies of God's judgment against several nations surrounding Israel. Verses 35–39 stood out, where the Lord declares, "Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the foremost of their might" (Jeremiah 49:35 NKJV, bold mine). He then goes on to say, "I will set up My throne in Elam" (Jeremiah 49:38 NAB, bold mine). On today's map, Elam corresponds to the southwestern region of modern-day Iran. A few days later, one of our young people had another dream about Iran and the bow of Elam. In the dream, one of our leaders stretched forth his hand and declared with fiery passion, "WE MUST DECLARE JEREMIAH 49!" He then saw a bow broken in two pieces, its string wrapped around it as if bound by itself. We believe there is a prophetic application of this passage in our day. The bow represents Iran's military might, and the string depicts the binding of the strongman and the leaders who carry out its agenda. Therefore, let us engage this word and function in the authority of Christ as we speak forth His purpose to break the strength of Iran's wicked regime. The Scriptures affirm that the testimony of two witnesses establishes a matter. So, as we align with these prayers of the past, we decree again the breaking of the bow of Elam and the establishing of God's throne in Iran. We were familiar with the Forty-Niners of the 1849 Gold Rush—the brave pioneers who chased gold in the rivers and hills of California. There was also the San Francisco '49ers, five-time Super Bowl champions. We also learned that the first airstrikes over Baghdad during the 1991 Desert Storm, and again in 2003's Operation Iraqi Freedom, were launched from Holloman's 49th Fighter Wing.
