This Isn't What I Thought a
Miracle Would Look Like

Steve Shultz     Dear ElijahStreams Family,

I want to tell you a story that's been replaying in my heart, because it reminds me how powerfully God moves when His voice is heard and responded to.

In July 2025, Mike and I traveled to Uganda to celebrate and dedicate a new ElijahStreams water well to the Lord.

The whole village showed up - hundreds of people celebrating the arrival of clean water. The joy was contagious and humbling.

As the dedication continued, two individuals right in front of us caught my attention. They seemed out of place.

They were dancing around and making strange hand gestures. They appeared to be drunk. It felt unsettling, and I found myself quietly praying and trying to discern what was happening right in front of us.

Eventually, they quieted down, and I assumed they had left. As leaders and pastors took turns speaking, Mike stood up as well and spoke powerfully, blessing the people and expressing ElijahStreams' love.

Honestly, I had no intention of speaking. The moment felt complete.

But suddenly, I heard the Holy Spirit speak one word to me: "Moses."

It wasn't loud, but it was so clear. The name wouldn't leave my mind, so I stood up and said out loud, "I keep hearing the name Moses."

The crowd got quiet. Then someone pointed toward a man near the back and said his name was Musa - the Arabic form of Moses.

In that moment, the atmosphere shifted.

The man I had nearly prayed away was the one God was calling by name.

The name Moses means "drawn out of water," and standing beside that well it felt like God was declaring, "I am drawing people out again."

This is where you enter the story. Without that water well, and without your generosity, none of this would have happened.

Right there beside the well, Musa stepped forward and surrendered his life to Jesus.

What we didn't realize at first was that Musa wasn't just a drunk man dancing around. He was an important leader - the local village witch doctor.

Later, Musa shared the truth about his life. It wasn't power. It was torment. Sleepless nights, voices demanding sacrifices, constant pressure mentally, spiritually, and physically.

Until Jesus stepped in.

When Musa gave his life to Christ, the torment stopped. For the first time in years, he could sleep. Peace came, and it didn't leave.

Even now, people still come to him asking for curses and spells. But Musa tells them about Jesus instead. Slowly, the light is invading the darkness.

And to think... all of this because of a water well.

We also visited the muddy, contaminated waterhole where sacrifices once took place, surrounded by charms and shrines. We often see this in Uganda - the enemy trying to take control of what gives life and turning it into a place of fear.

That's why these wells matter so much.

We drilled a new clean water well near Musa's village and dedicated it in October.

As we shared, I reminded the people of Musa's story and preached about Hagar - how God met her at a water source and called her by name. I told them God knew their names too.

I pointed to a man in the crowd and said, "God knows your name."

He came running. His name was Jackson.

Mike prayed for him. Then Musa laid his hands on his friend and helped lead him to Jesus right there beside the well in front of the entire village.

Standing there, I knew it. God is still drawing people out.

There are more lives ready to be freed from darkness, and more villages waiting for the same breakthrough.

These wells do more than provide water. They shift spiritual atmospheres.

As we press into 2026, we're continuing to drill 30 water wells every month, believing God is doing more than we can imagine through you and this ministry.

If you've partnered with us before, thank you. Lives are being drawn out, and the Kingdom of God is advancing.

Just as God heard the cries of the children in Exodus and sent Moses, we're hearing the cries of vulnerable children in these villages, and we're choosing to respond.

Will you join us?

We invite you to give today and share this story with your friends and family. What God is doing in Uganda deserves to be seen, heard, and responded to.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your faithfulness, prayers, and heart for the nations.
