Curt Landry: How to Prosper in Your Identity Strengths and Purpose
Feb 24, 2026
Knowing Your Identity and Your God-Given Talents Reveals Your Purpose What does it mean that you are created in Messiah Jesus for good works, which were prepared for you beforehand, that you should walk in them (see Ephesians 2:10)? You may have been taught to understand your weaknesses so that you can strengthen and correct them. But I want to challenge you to think differently. Instead of focusing on your weaknesses, focus on your true identity in Christ Jesus and the strengths He's given you. Knowing your identity and identifying your God-given talents reveals your purpose. God Created You with Great Detail and a Great Opportunity You are God's creation. He finely crafted you, paying close attention to every detail. There is no mistake; you were created for a good work, a Kingdom destiny that God had in mind before time began. There is a specific purpose He has in mind for you to do. This means that you, as His workmanship and creation, have a unique opportunity. You might ask... • What does His workmanship look like? 3 Principles to Help You Prosper in Your Identity and Purpose 1. Walk in the fruit of the Spirit. The more you walk in the fruit of the Spirit, the sooner you will find the Kingdom work that has been prepared for you beforehand. It is the Holy Spirit who transforms you by renewing your mind, giving you understanding of the Scriptures, wisdom, and revelation for your life (Romans 12:2). It is impossible to find your purpose when you walk in the flesh. The flesh is tied to your counterfeit identity, your false identity, the Adamic nature described in Galatians 5:19–21 (NKJV): "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God."
Being spiritually minded brings life and peace, allowing you to hear God's voice and discern His purpose for your life (Romans 8:6). 2. Decide daily to cancel your counterfeit identity. The counterfeit self is satan's lie about your life, and he seeks to persuade you to agree with this lie. He has waged war against your assignment, attacking your true identity and calling, but your God is a God of restoration and plans that prevail. When you repent and choose to walk in the Spirit, answering your call, you cancel the false identity and the stronghold over your true purpose. This requires discipline, surrender to the Father, and a desire to change. Each time you choose to align with your identity in Yeshua, you take a step in the right direction, aligning with the Kingdom work prepared in advance for you to do. Transformation comes through partnership and a covenant relationship with the Spirit of God who dwells within you and has given you new life. 3. Sow a seed in faith. God tests your heart and waits for you to step out in faith. It is impossible to please Him without it. And it is impossible to be transformed if you have no testimony, evidence of His transformation in your life. Acting in faith prospers your purpose. When you sow a seed in faith, you activate the transformation of walking by the Spirit, and God begins forming your testimony for His Kingdom. Your Transformation Is Linked to the Daily Discipline of Walking in the Fruits of the Spirit Your transformation is linked to the daily discipline of walking in the fruits of the Spirit and the power of the blood covenant in the one new man, which is found in Yeshua. "... having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross." (Ephesians 2:15–16 NKJV) The works of the flesh were abolished in His flesh through the cross. The fruit is peace, love, and reconciliation—all parts of the fruits of the Spirit. Rebirth, rest, redemption, reconciliation—these blessings were purchased for you through God's covenant act at the cross. You have access to the Father and are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit! "For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father ... in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:18, 22 NKJV)
The message of the one new man is not only about the reconciliation of Jews and Gentiles coming together in unity. It is also about accessing what your Father has for you, created for you, and designed for you. It is about being His workmanship and carrying out His Kingdom purposes. You are grafted in by grace to the house of Israel, a rich spiritual heritage that will prove an anchor in the storms of life. Troubling Times Will Come—Will They Make You Bitter or Better? Friends, when a season of pressure and pain comes, it presents a tremendous opportunity to become better rather than bitter. The key to being transformed in the midst of suffering rather than crushed by it is the power of Messiah in you, your hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). You are reconciled to Him, and He dwells within you. The fruit of this indwelling is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When the pressure is on during troubling times, these fruits will be magnified. They are simply a byproduct of His presence in your life. The Hebrew year 5786 is underway. It is time for you to arise and go forward boldly and courageously. To do that, you must take the time to inspect the foundation of your life. Strengthen the foundational "ROCK" of Yeshua in your life: R: Remember His Word You have a choice. You can align with covenant restoration, which reveals the power and unity of the one new man. This mystery unlocks protection and provision. This covenant unity releases the Holy Spirit in you to do the work of transformation necessary in this next season. However, if you align with your counterfeit identity, your dreams and desires are filtered through a corrupt past—your old self. You Are a New Creation Decide today to claim your identity in Messiah Jesus, releasing the potential of your predestined strengths that take you into your Kingdom purpose. "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..." (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV) The indwelling of His Spirit is Jesus in you—your hope of glory!
