Crystal G.H. Lowery: Leave the Grave Clothes Behind & Walk in the Newness of Life!

Spring is a season of renewal. The world awakens from the barrenness of winter, and new life bursts forth. In the same way, the resurrection of Jesus is not just a historical event; it is a prophetic call for us to step into the newness of life that he offers.

The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is still at work today. It is the power that revives weary souls, breathes life into dreams that seem lost, and strengthens us to walk boldly in faith. But are we truly walking in the power of his resurrection, or are we still clinging to the grave clothes of the past?

The Prophetic Meaning of Resurrection Power

Throughout Scripture, God has always been in the business of bringing life out of dead places. When Ezekiel stood in a valley of dry bones, the Lord commanded him to prophesy, and those bones came together, covered in flesh, and were filled with the breath of life (Ezekiel 37). When Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb, He proved his authority over death itself (John 11:43–44).

These stories remind us that God is still resurrecting things today—our faith, our purpose, and our calling. He is stirring his people, calling us to wake up from spiritual complacency and step into the vibrant, powerful life he has prepared for us.

Leaving the Grave Clothes Behind

When Lazarus came out of the tomb, Jesus told those around him to take off his grave clothes (John 11:44). He was alive, but he was still wrapped in the garments of death.

Many of us have been raised to new life in Christ, but we are still holding onto things that belong to our old nature: fear, shame, doubt, or habits that keep us stuck in the past.

This is a season to leave the grave clothes behind. It's time to walk freely in the identity and power God has given us. Whatever has been holding you back, Jesus is calling you to let it go. (Photo via Unsplash)

Walking in the Newness of Life

Paul tells us in Romans 6:4 (ESV), "...just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." This isn't just a one-time experience, it's a daily walk. Every day, we have the choice to embrace resurrection power— to renew our minds, to trust God's promises, and to step boldly into his plans.

Here are a few ways to walk in resurrection power:

1. Renew Your Mind

Meditate on God's Word and declare his promises over your life. Let go of negative thoughts and align yourself with his truth.

2. Live With Expectation

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). Expect God to move in powerful ways in your life.

3. Step Out in Faith

Don't stay stuck in the past. Take steps of obedience toward what God has called you to do.

A Call to Rise

This is a season of awakening. God is calling his people to rise, to shake off the things that have held them back, and to step into the fullness of life he has prepared.

If you've been feeling stuck, discouraged, or weary, know this: Jesus is calling you out of the tomb. He is speaking life over you. He is making all things new.

It's time to rise. It's time to walk in resurrection power. It's time to walk in the newness of life.
