Kathi Pelton: "From a Veiled Place to a Place of Unveiled Awe"

Crossing the Threshold of September When I woke up on Sunday, September 1st, I knew by the Spirit that the Body of Christ was at a threshold, from a veiled place into a place of unveiled awe. I heard the verse in my spirit from 1 Corinthians 2:9: "...No one has ever seen, no one has ever heard, no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him." Then I heard the Spirit whisper to me, "Ears have heard of who I am, but eyes will see, and they will be transformed by My awe." Job's Threshold I had been meditating on the final chapter in Job over the past number of days due to a revelation that the Lord gave me while praying over someone. As most of you know, Job was a righteous man, and the enemy thought he could sift him. He went from favor and wealth to losing everything: his children, his possessions, his wife's faith in him, and then his health. To top things off, his friends counseled him with wrong advice that brought accusation against Job's righteousness. Then Job questioned God; he thought that God must be against him. Yet he knew that he had lived a righteous life. He questioned why God was punishing him without cause (Job 31:2–8, 35–37). But God answered Job with questions that revealed His greatness and awe, silencing Job's "whys" (Job 38:1–18). In the final chapter of Job, we find that Job had crossed a threshold. Here are his words:
We know that if anyone had a reason to question God, it would have been Job. And yet even that statement underlines our human understanding of what is fair versus the surrender to knowing that there are things too lofty for us to understand. A Revelation of His Awe: Leaving the "Whys" Behind The recent revelation/picture that I received was of a small child hearing the instruction of his parent and asking over and over again, "Why?" I then saw that child come to a place of realizing his parents knew what was best, and that what they were asking had a greater purpose than he could understand. In this realization, he crossed a threshold, and the "whys" were silenced. I saw us crossing the same threshold as we behold the revelation of the awe of God. In this revelation, as this child crossed the threshold, they entered into maturity, and that maturity left the "whys" behind. They now obeyed without hesitation; they stopped questioning and merely trusted without the need for understanding, and their eyes beheld the awe of God. Childish agendas and accusations will be left behind, as well as the demand for God to explain Himself. Maturity of faith will be found to be carried out in the place of awe, the realization that His ways are too high and too wonderful for our understanding, even in human suffering. Job's Story Is Playing Out Right Now Even the "wisdom" of Job's friends was brought into the place of awe. They counseled out of human understanding and judgments, but they were wrong in their understanding and in their counsel, making Job's plight even more difficult. But God asked Job to pray for these friends who had added to his pain, and when he did, God forgave their debt and wrongdoing; they repented as well (Job 42:7–9). The story of Job (his loses, the unwise counsel of his friends, his questioning of God, and then his revelation of God's greatness) is being played out in many lives right now.
I believe that many in the Body of Christ are being called to repent for wrongly questioning God's fairness or for wrongly counseling God's people, bringing them greater pain by making up an answer for their pain. From Merely Hearing to Seeing We are moving from merely hearing about God to seeing Him as He is. Our eyes will see and we will stand in awe as we finally cross into a place of trust without question. We will not accuse Him in our hearts or counsel out of human understanding as if we understand the meaning of right and wrong, fair and unfair. No longer will God's people say that our Father is not fair or just. We will trust His ways, knowing that they are higher than our ability to understand or comprehend. Humility will become maturity, trust will become strength, vulnerability will become a covering, repentance will become favor, and surrender will usher in peace. In this new place God can release His double portion, because we have left childish ways and the demand of human fairness or an explanation from the Almighty. "After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before." (Job 42:10) September is a threshold to move from childish ways into the maturing of our faith. It is a threshold that we can cross, from merely hearing to seeing—seeing the awe and wonder of God. It is time to live in the awe of His great love for us and no longer vacillate about His love based on human understanding or circumstances. This is a work of the Spirit that is happening in all who yield to Him. This will transform many Simons into Peters, Sauls into Pauls, Abrams into Abrahams, and Jacobs into Israels. We are on a threshold of transformation. Let's yield and cross over.

Job crossed over from carnal thinking and understanding and entered a new place of awe and wonder. He crossed into the place of the knowledge that God's ways were too wonderful and lofty for his human understanding. He realized that God's purposes had somehow been in his losses, and yet he now knew that his human understanding would never comprehend the ways of God. Many have suffered, and in that suffering many have questioned God. A lot of wrong counsel has been given by many who have looked upon those who have suffered, but God is now revealing His power and greatness that silences every "why" and every reason that either accuses God or accuses a righteous man.
