"Come up here, young man!" the preacher shouted at me from the stage. He had inexplicably pointed me out in a sea of thousands of people. "Has God ever used you to heal someone?" he asked as I climbed the stairs to the platform. "Um, I don't think so," I gulped. Before I knew what happened, I found myself on the ground under what felt like a heavy electric blanket. The preacher had grabbed my hand with his and put it on the hip of a person who could not walk correctly. I watched in awe as the person ran around the stage completely healed, and I could still feel the electric waves of God's presence buzzing through my body. This was just one of many, many occasions when impartation changed my life.
Haggai 1:14 says, "So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God." Even as you are reading this article, I believe that the Lord is stirring your spirit again and giving you a fresh blueprint and fire to move forward in your Kingdom mandate! The New Living Translation of this Scripture says "...the Lord sparked the enthusiasm of Zerubbabel." As in any relationship, it is possible to grow unenthusiastic, but when we understand that "enthusiasm" literally means "to be filled with God," it is hard to remain stagnant! We must ask the Lord for a fresh filling of fire and revelation concerning the finished work of Christ every day, and then sit back and watch the fireworks. When I was a new Christian, it was common to refer to Believers one of two ways: "on fire" or "lukewarm." Receiving impartation from Heaven is a sure fire way to keep us set ablaze. We can see that there is not only impartation through the laying on of hands, but sovereign impartations as well. The Lord Himself comes on people or sends messengers of fire in plenty of Scriptures, some of these illustrate the laying on of hands. My wife and I were with our first child, Titus, in a hotel room one night in southern Illinois where I was preparing to minister the next day, when I had an amazing encounter at the midnight hour. I heard a sound like a stampede coming into the room, and a man stood before me with a host of angels. The only thing he said was, "Get him, boys!" My body was struck with electric waves, and I shook violently in bed for about 20 seconds. That was it. Everyone left. However, that night in our revival meeting, we had some extraordinary signs and wonders break out! I am convinced that I had received impartation from a messenger of the Lord that night, which resulted in greater demonstrations of power! Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:6-7, "Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." If the Apostle Paul believed in impartation, then you'd better believe we should today as well! A transference and a stirring takes place. This is why during supernatural evangelism efforts, it is not uncommon to experience folks testifying of being filled with immense joy, heat, a feeling of weightlessness (burdens lifted), and many other exciting manifestations when hands are laid on them – even if they are unbelievers! Impartation strengthens our spirits! When we gather in expectation, God will honor in impartation. We will be stirred. And what happens when things are stirred? I love the story found in John 5:4 about the healing angel who stirred the waters, "At certain times an angel of the Lord would go down into the pool and stir up the water, and whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had."
Sometimes people ask me, "Well, why shouting? Why a revival meeting? Why pray in tongues?" Because I don't want to be a stagnant well that offers no healing. The mob of soldiers got slain in the spirit! No hype, just Jesus. In fact, the words "went backward" come from the Greek word "aperchomai." In this case, the words depict the soldiers and temple police staggering and stumbling backward as if some force had hit them and pushed them backward. The word "fell" is the Greek word, "pipto," which means to fall. It was used often to depict a person who fell so hard that it appeared that he fell dead or fell like a corpse. Are you ready to be so stirred that you can't even do anything in your own power because "I AM that I AM" lives in you? Matthew 8:5-10 states, "As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him [for help], and saying, 'Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, with intense and terrible, tormenting pain.' Jesus said to him, 'I will come and heal him.' But the centurion replied to Him, 'Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man subject to authority [of a higher rank], with soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, "Go!" and he goes, and to another, "Come!" and he comes, and to my slave, "Do this!" and he does it.' When Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following Him, 'I tell you truthfully, I have not found such great faith [as this] with anyone in Israel.'" Sometimes what others call "hype," Heaven calls "faith." Father, thank You for fresh impartation from the throne today for all of my friends reading this article.
