Ben Peters: "A New Marriage and Family Anointing"
Jul 30, 2018
From the desk of Steve Shultz: Wow...this is a most needed word and revelation from the Lord which Ben Peters writes about "marriage and family anointing." This is a place where the enemy is always trying to attack the hardest as Ben Peters shares here: Why have Christian marriages come under such attack in recent days? I believe it is because our enemy knows how powerful a married couple can be as a ministry team. He knows that when a man and a woman become one in the Spirit, as well as one in the flesh, that the combination of their gifts enables them to do great damage to the kingdom of darkness. "A New Marriage and Family Anointing"
I'm hearing the Spirit of the Lord declaring, "I've seen the intensity of the enemy's attacks on marriages and families in this generation. I've seen the struggles even in the homes of My Church leaders. I've heard the cry of husbands and wives, who seem to have nowhere else to turn for wise counsel, and are ready to give up and leave their partners.
"I have not forsaken them. I am coming swiftly with a new anointing to restore their love for one another. This anointing will overpower the divisive tactics of the wicked one. I will anoint them to hear My voice and speak My words, causing the enemy to flee from them. I will teach them to stir up the fruit and the gifts of My Holy Spirit, and they will come together as a powerful team to share my love with others around them. Be encouraged, weary ones! I will restore and I will anoint." How Blessed it is for Us to Dwell in Unity Why have Christian marriages come under such attack in recent days? I believe it is because our enemy knows how powerful a married couple can be as a ministry team. He knows that when a man and a woman become one in the Spirit, as well as one in the flesh, that the combination of their gifts enables them to do great damage to the kingdom of darkness. Furthermore, I believe that in preparation for the coming Great Awakening, God wants healthy marriages and families to be a major pillar in this revival movement. With millions of new spiritual babies coming into the Kingdom, the Christian family will have an incredibly important role in discipling others. That will include many married people coming right out of the world, who need the wisdom and encouragement of strong and stable Christian couples. Church leaders will have a limited capacity to disciple new converts, but married couples, who know how to use spiritual fruit and gifts, will have the capacity to disciple the millions. Notice how Joel prophesied about the last days anointing, as quoted by Peter in Acts 2:17-18. "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy." (Photo via Unsplash) While it doesn't specifically say "husband and wife," it refers to male and female, young and old. It's the picture of the household of an extended family ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit. Personal Testimony While traveling in ministry, we repeatedly prayed for God to anoint us to minister to the people we were going to be with in our next meeting. God always manifested His presence with a strong anointing to teach and prophesy. Many lives were touched, and God did many miracles in people's lives. This happened night after night in meetings that often lasted four or five hours. One night on the way to a meeting, my wife and I had some intense conversation that left us both feeling less than super spiritual. We were wondering how we were going to bless anyone else, when we felt like such messes ourselves. But out of that battle God gave us two extremely important revelations. The first revelation was that we carried a treasure in our vessels of clay (2 Corinthians 4:7). We were created out of clay dirt that was given the breath of life and made into vessels that could carry God's anointing. The enemy would like us to feel disqualified because we were focusing on the vessels of clay, instead of the treasure within us. If we had turned around and canceled our meeting, the people would not have gotten the treasure that God wanted us to share with them. We had to see that, in spite of our weaknesses, God had entrusted us with something so powerful and wonderful that we had no right to hold it back from blessing others (1 Peter 4:10).
The second revelation was this: If we would pray for an anointing to minister to our spouse every day, like we did to minister to total strangers, perhaps we wouldn't have the serious battles in our marriage relationships. And if we extended that to our children as well, we could have a much happier home. Whenever we practiced praying for an anointing to minister to each other, we found that less attacks were happening, and we were experiencing more joy in our relationships. We had taught extensively on the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit, especially prophecy. But we seldom prophesied to each other or our kids. That began to change, and it began to make a big difference in our family harmony. It also empowered us to do more to bless others. I believe God wants to reward us publicly for what we do behind closed doors, just like Jesus said about prayer and giving in Matthew 6:1-6. Seek the Fruit of the Spirit First I believe God is encouraging every struggling couple or individual to believe God for the anointing to minister to those closest to you. He especially wants us to ask and keep on asking, to seek and keep on seeking, and to knock and keep on knocking until we experience a major increase in the powerful fruit of the Holy Spirit. The first and most important fruit is the agape love of God, which is our most powerful weapon against the attacks of the enemy. In addition, it opens the door to all the other fruit of the Spirit, as well as the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The enemy has no power to defend himself against this powerful one-two punch. God is even now ready to pour out His fruit and His gifts in families that truly want to serve Him. Don't let your failures keep you from asking for more of His anointing. I can tell you from personal experience that His anointing truly breaks the yoke. It will set you free, so you can use that anointing to set others free. (Photo via Unsplash) Don't wait until the revival is in full tilt. God wants to prepare you now to be a leader and not just a follower, but also a giver and not just a taker. WILL YOU ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK? God is waiting to hear your cry. He will forgive you for your failures, and give you the grace to forgive those who have failed you. If we align ourselves with God's purposes, and not just our own; if we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, He promises to meet our personal needs. Sounds like a good deal to me. Peters Ben and Brenda Peters have said "YES" to the call of God to challenge, equip, and send dedicated lovers of Jesus into the harvest fields of the earth, including the seven mountains of society. Together they have ministered to tens of thousands of individuals in several countries of the world. After establishing and serving churches and Christian schools for almost thirty years, they began a traveling ministry in September 1999 under the name Open Heart Ministries. This ministry consisted mainly of speaking, teaching, preaching, and prophesying in conferences, camps, retreats, churches, ministry schools, and homes. More recently, they also founded an Illinois-based ministry called Kingdom Sending Center after hearing a clear word from God during a Heidi Baker meeting in Chicago. Ben began writing revelatory books in 2000, and has published 23 of them since then. His newest book is THE KINGDOM BUILDING CHURCH – Experiencing the Explosive Potential of the Church in Kingdom Building Mode.
