Love is Springing Forth, Plus Pacific NW I-5 Tour
Fellow Burning Hearts Across the World...
For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.—Isaiah 61:11
Spring is here and love is in the air. No, this is not some cheesy far-off fairy-tale legend but the Kingdom reality we are stepping into across our 100+ Furnaces in communities around the world! I pray this update will encourage, strengthen and stir your heart with HOPE, FAITH and a renewed LOVE for all God is doing in this day!
"Praise is springing forth from all nations" and there is a grace to enter into an impartation of strong love that remains, sustains and even increases in this season. At the end of the day, it all comes down to love. When we stand before the Lord at the end of it all (or the beginning rather), we will not be asked how many hours of worship and prayer we hosted, how many mission trips we went on or what conferences or church events we attended. We will be asked if we learned how to love and embodied that throughout our brief existence on earth. This is how we are identified in Heaven – by our love.
Through the growth, expansion and increased activity of the Burn 24-7 movement, we refuse to move from Mary's posture (adoration) into Martha's preoccupied status (busyness). Staying at His feet will always be our priority and identity over "doing" His work. There is an aching in my heart during this season to return back to "the things we did at first" (Revelation 2) and come back to the heart of it all!
...Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.—Song of Songs 2:7-9
I believe that love so desires! Let a fresh love be awakened once again in the hearts of our leaders, cities and nations, O Lord!
Capital Culmination
Our Burn DC community has been gathering around His presence for monthly burn gatherings for over the last two years. Salvations, healings, deliverance and supernatural unity have become commonplace every month as this racially and ethnically diverse region has found common ground in the place of prayer and worship! The transformation that has taken place in such a short time is unheard of in this city!
On the heels of this incredible momentum, we hosted our fourth "Fire On the Altar" gathering (prior cities were Las Vegas, Houston and Harrisburg for 50 hours of burning) and brought in musicians, psalmists and worshippers from all over the nation to press in for the destiny of God over what many prophets believe is the world's most important city in crisis! As many as 3,000 hungry hearts (at one time) from all over the region packed in the Furnace, and hundreds upon hundreds stayed the entire night! We even had several thousands tune in via LIVE web stream from across the world! Africans, Asians, Middle Easterners, blacks, whites and more gathered around the throne and it seriously felt like Heaven on earth as each hour increased in presence and power!
Hijacked in Norway
A widespread pattern of this awakening of love, zeal and passion is reflected by the reality that the sound of worship is hijacking and taking over everything in this season! We have seen a gradual shift take place in the Church over the past few years as the "worship" or "singing" allotment on a typical Sunday morning service (denominational and non-denominational) has increased from 15-20 minutes to 40-50 minutes.
But this is only the beginning. The sound is now taking over every place from radio stations (the airwaves), to suburban malls, to Red Light districts, to slums, to mosques! No place is safe from the increase and release of this sound!
What I have been noticing lately, though, is that the acceleration is now much more widespread and drastic than the simple increase of worship on a Sunday morning. There is a HUNGER for nothing but His presence. This is why over 3,000 people – which has never happened like this before – would gather in Washington D.C. only to worship. We did not preach, teach or even give altar calls!
Two weeks ago in the capital city of Oslo, Norway, we experienced the fullness of this reality unfold before our eyes! What was once a slick, polished and orderly mega youth conference (one of the biggest in the nation), turned into a full-on Burn gathering!
From Obligation to Fascination
Lately, when I've been invited and encouraged to preach or teach at various events (which I really love to do!), I can barely get a few sentences out before I feel the need to go back into worship. This usually continues late into the night. It is not that I don't love preaching or teaching (and I feel we need an increase in this as well), but there is just such an anointing on worship in this season to bring us close to the Father so we can truly hear what is on His heart and be renewed and transformed!
As I began to preach for the inaugural session during this big youth conference in Norway, this is the verse I began reading:
...I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.—Song of Songs 2:3-4
Directly after reading this, we applied and activated it in the place of worship. The rest was history. God began to take us on a corporate journey truly discovering that His "banner over me is love." Insecurities, fears, sin, torment and depression began to break off these European youth the deeper we ventured into the Presence of God. Hour by hour went by as we moved from religious obligation to lovesick fascination. We ended up worshipping all night long until the rays of dawn's first light! Such a prophetic and powerful picture of Malachi 1:11 coming to pass all around the world!
I-5 Burn Tour and the Sound of Redemption
On Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from Bethel Church in Redding, California, we launched one of the most profound and timely tours, I believe, in the history of the Burn movement. The northern section of the West Coast I-5 corridor (extending from San Francisco, California to Vancouver, Canada) is one of the most traveled, cultured and influential stretches of highway in America. Its path slices through three states (California, Oregon and Washington) and their capital cities and governmental headquarters (Sacramento, Salem and Olympia). Historic and increased amounts of human and drug trafficking have been noted on this highway in addition to national centers of witchcraft, masonry and the occult. Oregon and Washington have ranked high among the unchurched states in America.
We have been hearing the words, prophetic promises and declarations that the time is NOW for the Pacific Northwest! TODAY is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2)! A land rich in music, the creative arts and culture, yet so bound in darkness, is about to rise and step into her hour of destiny! To this end, we are launching a two-week tour carrying the purpose of releasing the sound of worship and awakening in every significant city along this corridor! Similar to the days of Jehoshaphat, God is truly sending the worshippers FIRST in this season! A new sound of redemption is now emerging! It is a sound of love, life and breakthrough!
As we launched out on April 6 from our friends and mentors, Bill and Beni Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding, California, join us in prayer for the most powerful Burn tour yet! Pray that God would grace us with strength, endurance, faith and the sound of awakening and life on this region!
Strong Love
As you can clearly see from these few testimonies, stories and initiatives from all over the world, this impartation of STRONG LOVE is readily available to every person, city, region and nation! There is nothing too hard or impossible for the sheer power of His love to overcome! During the days of an increase of darkness, wickedness and crazy things we cannot always explain (i.e. unrest in the Middle East or earthquakes in Japan), let our love not grow cold and stale but increase with passion, fire and faith!
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.—Matthew 24:12-14
