If so, you'll learn some exciting insights from Todd Bentley as he recently had a vision of living at the bottom of the well and encourages us to "dig in" so to speak:
There is a lot of deep substance in this word. I encourage you to read through it and get ready to dig deep into His wells! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
Living at the Bottom of the Well
You can either be a well for God or you can drink from the fountain. God is saying, "I want to make you a well." God has many different kinds of wells, and He wants you to be a well.
I had a vision of a prophetic word that was given to me just a couple of weeks ago. I was so filled with the wine of the Holy Spirit, and I was talking about dignity. I said, "Would you lose your dignity for the presence of God?" Then right in the middle of my message, I made this statement, "I don't just want to put my face in the well of God. I don't just want to drink from the well of God. In fact, I am getting so hungry and desperate for Jesus, I want to fall in the well. Then when I fall in the well, I want to swim down to the bottom of the well, and that's where I want to live. I want to be like Gideon in the winepress. I want to be at the bottom of the winepress."
There are too many Christians that are drinking from the top of the winepress. There are too many Christians that are fountain Christians. They're drinking from the fountain or they're sipping from the well.
"In the midst of the famine, if you're close enough to God and you know how to be deep with God, He'll bring you to your own brook and He'll feed you."
After the meeting was over, my assistant's brother came to me and said, "Hey Todd, you know what you were saying, that you wanted to fall into a well? Right before you said that you wanted to fall into a well, I had a vision. The vision was that you were dipped over a well, and God pushed you into the well. Then you swam down to the bottom of the well. At the bottom of the well, there were all these treasures. God took you into His treasure rooms. The treasure rooms would speak of wisdom, truth, and revelation."
You can't really get into deep revelation and operate in the spirit of wisdom and revelation by just sipping out of the fountain or sipping out of the well. You've got to live in the well. You've got to fall right into the well.
Becoming a Well
God is calling His people deeper to become wells of the Holy Ghost. A fountain Christian is one who sips out of the water and gets some renewal and some refreshing. They get filled, and they run to another fountain and they have another drink. I want to be a well, because when people know that they're thirsty, they can come to the well and drink. If you're a well Christian, if you're a deep well, people will know that there is substance – something you have to give them that is more than just words.
When you're a well Christian, it doesn't matter where you are. You know how to tap into the anointing. You know how to dig and draw on what God has put inside of you. You can release the anointing, heal the sick, cleanse the leper, and raise the dead. You can win souls, preach the Gospel of Jesus, and manifest the glory of God. Why? Because you're a well.
I want to be an oil well that explodes into a ball of fire because when an oil well is burning, it's not easy to put it out. You need dynamite to put out an oil well that's burning. What feeds that fire when an oil well bursts into a big flame? It's the pressure that's shooting up from the underground, just through that small hole. The key to being that burning oil well is to make sure that you've tapped into the underground pressure. Make sure that you're rooted, that you know intimacy with God.
Deep Calls to Deep
The Bible says in Psalm 42:7, "Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me." What happens when you're in the "deep calls unto deep" place? Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfall. The key is in deep calls unto deep.
Genesis 7:11-12 says, "... the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of Heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights." The rain that came down in the days of Noah was abnormal rainfall. How did the flood get released? When the fountains of the deep were broken up.
There are fountains that God has for you to break, but do you know where those fountains are? They're in the deep. They're called the fountains of the deep. When the fountains of the deep were broken, Heaven opened and the rain came down. God sends His flood rain down on you. Then you get so full that you're overflowing, and the flood touches everything. A flood affects everything in its path.
A Tree Planted by the Waters
Jeremiah 17:7-8: "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will it cease from yielding fruit."
This verse is about a tree, but where are this tree's roots? They're by the river. Because this tree has roots, because it's a rooted Christian and because those roots are deep, do you know where the river is? It's under the ground. You can be in the hardest of all ground, and if you'll dig deep enough, there's water. The deeper your roots, the more you're tapped into the river.
I'm going to break open the fountains of the deep because I want the rain of God on my life to manifest the flood of the Spirit of God against the kingdom of darkness. You know what else the roots are? The roots are meditating on God's Word. You can't draw water out of the well without the bucket. The bucket is the Word of God. (Photo via Unsplash)
Do you know what else the roots are? They are called the roots of Christianity. God's wanting to bring the Church back to the basics. God's wanting to bring the Church back to the foundation of Christianity – the preaching of Christ crucified is the power of God. Preach the Gospel, heal the sick. God's calling us back to that place. He's wanting us to go deeper in commitment. My commitment to Jesus needs to be even deeper. I will be going deeper in my commitment to God until I am with Jesus.
You're not radical enough. Let me tell you what deep Christianity is: deep Christianity is when you turn cities upside down for Jesus. The Bible says in Acts 17:6b, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too."
Let's go deep in evangelism. Let's go deep into the Word of God. Let's break open the fountains of the deep. Let's rip Heaven open over our lives. Let's have the flood of God come on us. Let's live in the "deep calls unto deep" place.
People will come to sit under the shade that you let off from your branches, and the birds of the air will be a well. Rather than drinking from the fountain, you'll be the source. You'll be the doing. You'll be the fire starter. You'll be the fuel. You'll be the flame.
There's always going to be a drought. There are always going to be times where God withholds the dew, where God withholds the rain. What are you going to do in the drought? What are you going to do when there's no dew? You've got to learn how to break open the fountains of the deep. You've got to dig in prayer. We must learn how to have the heavens open over our lives.
What if Your Well Runs Dry?
What are you going to do when all the wells are stopped up? What are you going to do when all the wells run dry? If you're a well, if you're a source, you don't have to worry about it. You've got to be able to be deep enough. When the wells dry up, when there's no dew, when there's no rain, when there's no fountain, when there's famine in the land, when there's drought, you've got to learn how to be close enough to God. For those who are close enough to Him even in the time of famine, He's got a brook. In the midst of the famine, if you're close enough to God and you know how to be deep with God, He'll bring you to your own brook and He'll feed you.
Look at the Welsh Revival. God raised up John Evan Roberts. He was a powerful instrument in the hand of God for revival for two years. Thousands would flock to his meetings and line up hours before the service. Evan Roberts was a well. He was saying, "I'm not going to wait for any other fountains. I'm not going to wait for any other wells. I'm going to be a well." Everyone knew that Evan Roberts was a well. They knew they could come, and they knew they could drink. They knew that he was deep, and they knew he was the source. They knew that he was a fire starter.
"If you're a well Christian, if you're a deep well, people will know that there is substance – something you have to give them that is more than just words."
It was the same with Jonathan Wesley. In the 40s and 50s, God raised up many wells. They were healing wells. People would come by the thousands and pack into those tents and be healed by the power of Jesus. Why? Because Oral Roberts, Jack Cole, and many of the people of that day learned how to be the source.
Jeremiah 2:2-3, "... Thus says the Lord: 'I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your betrothal, when you went after Me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. Israel was holiness to the Lord, the firstfruits of His increase. All that devour him will offend; disaster will come upon them,' says the Lord."
What was happening? God was saying to Israel, "I remember you. I remember the kindness of your youth. I remember when you had passion. I remember when you loved Me and you were lovesick for Me. I remember your covenant. I remember your loyalty. I remember when you were faithful to Me. I remember when you were holiness unto Me."
Then He says this in verse 13, "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns – broken cisterns that can hold no water." What was God saying?
God said, "You've allowed yourselves to be broken. You've allowed yourselves to become a leaky vessel. You've allowed yourselves to no longer be a source. You've allowed yourselves to no longer be a well because you're now broken and you're now a leaky vessel because of your sin. Your second evil is that you've forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters."
How did they forsake the fountain of living waters? They lost their passion. They lost their fire. They lost the kindness of their youth. They lost their loyalty to God. They lost their faithfulness to Him. They lost. God says, "I remember when you went after Me. You went after Me even in the wilderness."
That's what He was saying. He says, "You lost that passion, you lost that fire that was inside of you when you went after Me in the wilderness, when you chased Me down. Now you've forsaken the living water because you lost that passion. You lost that ability. You lost that faithfulness. You lost that fire. Now because of your sin, you're nothing but a broken vessel."
Visiting the Memorial Stones and Digging in Prayer
Now, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about memorial stones. In the Bible, every time somebody had a mighty manifestation and visitation of God, or God did something big, they would set up stones that were called markers and memorial stones so that the children in the generations to come would see those stones, and they would remember the visitation of their fathers.
We can revisit those memorial stones and re-dig the wells of our fathers, re-dig the anointings that were upon the lives of those who have gone on before us, but we are going to have to dig in prayer. We are going to have to dig in the area of intercession. Those wells are still out there. There are still spiritual memorial stones and markers saying, "Remember. Remember G.L. Moody."
G.L. Moody said, "It's amazing what God can do with one man or one woman who'll be fully committed to Him." Remember that memorial stone. Remember what God can do with you. You'll become hardcore. You'll become radical. You'll become crazy. You'll become sold out. You'll live on the edge for Jesus. God will change nations through just you.
Go for God. Dig up wells of healing. Dig up wells of revelation. Dig up wells of the prophetic. Some of you are wells of salvation. People are going to come and drink and get saved through your life. Dig it up. Seek the face of God for the anointing of evangelism. Dig it up with fasting. Dig up your well. Be a well of salvation. Be a well of deliverance. Be a well of revival. Be a well of prayer. Make the Valley Full of Ditches
I want you to get a hold of that flame. I want you to get a hold of that fire so that you'll begin to go after God and you'll begin to dig. You won't be satisfied. God wants to put fight inside of you to chase the devil out the door. You will run him out of your city. You will chase him out of your life and give no place to the devil. You will slam the door on his head.
You violently take Heaven. You aggressively destroy the works of the devil. You fight against sickness. You fight against disease. You fight against death as if it was a demon itself (which most of the time it is). You cast out devils. You lay hold of their necks and you wring them out into the dry places. You don't play around with demons.
How are you ever going to have a ministry of healing if you haven't dug up your healing well yet? How are you ever going to have a ministry of the prophetic if you haven't dug up your water canal of the prophetic yet? God fills the ditches. God fills the water canals. God fills only the places that have been dug. How much have you dug? How much have you sowed into the call of God in your life?
You never know when God is about to fill you up. You never know when God is about to release you into your calling. You never know when it's time for your ministry, but you better make sure that you are prepared in prayer now and that you built up the highway and dug up the canals that you're going to need to hold that water. Make the valley full of ditches. Hallelujah. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
