Lesson 1: It's All About the Soul

The glory light (dunamis) is a supernatural tool that will cause accelerated healing of the soul. The goal of this blog is to enable you readers to get your souls healed by understanding how God uses dreams and visions in the process!

God, in His sovereignty and mercy, healed me of Lupus in spite of my lack of understanding. One day, as I was sitting on my bed I asked, "What's going on, God? What is this Lupus thing all about?" He said one word, "Hezekiah." Hezekiah was the king who had gotten sick and was going to die; but God, in His sovereignty, healed Hezekiah and extended his life when he turned his face towards the wall. When the Lord spoke that one word to me, "Hezekiah," I was instantly healed of Lupus!

I love when God comes in and sovereignly does something super-cool like that! When I am totally clueless, overcomed and overwhelmed, when I have no idea what to do about it, God comes in anyway! He takes His big Papa-Daddy hand and smashes the problem; He dissolves it and completely wipes it out. But, I also love being able to receive revelation – deep, detailed revelation, wisdom and understanding that cause me to be part of the miracle.

God uses dreams and visions to give insight so that we can be positioned to become part of the miracle. It's how He leads us. It is a road map. It's a guidance system. This insight allows us to bring the things of the invisible Kingdom of Heaven here to Earth and to see them manifest in signs and wonders.

It is important for our soul to be completely healed because our soul is connected to everything in our life; to our relationships with our spouse, children, friends, church, and co-workers. It is connected to our level of peace and contentment, our finances and to our physical healing. We have been harassed in our minds and emotions; we have been waiting for a breakthrough in our finances and physical bodies. When our souls are healed, our dominion is going to shift and we will go to higher levels than ever before.

Our soul consists of our mind, will, and emotions. We are three-part beings: body, soul, and spirit. When we are born again our spirit is made instantly perfect. The Bible says that the same spirit that lives in Christ lives in us! However, upon regeneration in Christ, our soul is not made instantly perfect. Our mind, will, and emotions are constantly under the process of being healed and brought under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That is why 2 Corinthians 10:5 commands us to take captive into the obedience of Christ every thought and imagination that would set itself up against the knowledge of God. This Scripture indicates that there is a process of bringing our soul into healing and under submission to Jesus.

Over our lifetime, all of us have experienced situations that have left wounds on our soul, and those wounds affect every part of our soul. They can control our mind and the way we think, thus the decisions that we make. They affect our will, which is our ability to choose right from wrong, and our emotions, causing us to have unbalanced, unhealthy, and even dangerous emotions—like rage.

The wounds on our soul have the ability to control us and can cause us to sin! Paul talks about this in Romans 7:20 (AMPC), "Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it. It is not myself that acts but the sin principle which dwells within me fixed and operating in my soul." Paul was saying that the last thing that he wanted to do was sin! But, the sin principle that was fixed and operating inside his soul was controlling him and causing him to sin.

Here is the problem: we can try all we want to be holy and say, "I'm not going to yell at my spouse! I'm not going to boss my kids around! I'm not going to snap at that person at work!" But before we know, IT happens... "YOU BETTER SHUT UP! STOP! GET OUT OF MY FACE!" It is that sin principle, fixed and operating inside of our soul. It makes us snap! It's controlling us! When those wounds inside our souls get healed, it becomes so much easier to walk in holiness, blamelessness, and righteousness before the Lord.

Lesson 2: Nothing in Common

To interpret our dreams properly, we must understand our soul. The wounds on our soul are created by sin. Perhaps someone sinned against us; they abused, abandoned, or rejected us. Perhaps we sinned against ourselves by committing adultery, watching pornography, or using drugs. Psalm 143:3 (AMPC) shows us the exact place in our lives where the enemy looks for a way in. It is our soul. "For the enemy has pursued and persecuted my soul, he has crushed my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in dark places as those who have been long dead." Demonic powers constantly look for legal right into our lives and sin gives them that right. They do not target our spirit man because our spirit is Christ's Spirit living in us. They pursue and persecute the wounds in our soul that were created by sin. Jesus Christ came to Earth as a man (Philippians 2). He even went to the Cross in obedience to God as a man. Yet, the enemy had no power over Jesus because there were no wounds in His soul.

Jesus Christ had to come to Earth as a man, without sin! If He had not, He could not have gone to the Cross as the perfect sacrifice to atone for the rest of mankind's sin. Jesus had a body, a soul, and a Spirit. We know His Spirit was perfect because we get our born again spirit from Him, but His soul was perfect too. Listen to what Jesus says about this in John 14:30 (AMPC), "I will not talk with you much more, for the prince, evil genius ruler of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me." There was nothing in His mind, His will, or His emotions that belonged to or was in common with satan, therefore satan had no dominion over Him.

Dwelling Among the Tombs

What's the deal with Legion? The Bible talks about the man with the spirit of Legion that ground down his chains and ran around naked, beating, bruising and cutting himself. Okay...but what does that have to do with us today? Did you know that if you are suffering from chronic conditions or bouts of the flu, bacterial infections, viruses, sicknesses, mental disorders—all kinds of goopy and gross conditions—they may be on you from the demonic spirit of legion?

The good news is, when you get healed of those wounds connected to Legion, the enemy has no more legal right to torment you and HAS to GO!

Do you remember the story about the spirit of Legion found in Mark 5:1-18 (AMPC)? Verses 1-6 begins as Jesus and the disciples were crossing the sea. "They came to the other side of the sea in the region of the Gerasenes. And as soon as He got out of the boat, there met Him out of the tombs a man under the power of an unclean spirit. This man continually lived among the tombs, and no one could subdue him anymore, even with a chain; For he had been bound often with shackles for the feet and handcuff, but the handcuffs of light chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he rubbed and ground together and broke to pieces; and no one had strength enough to restrain or tame him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always shrieking and screaming and beating and bruising and cutting himself with stones. And when from a distance he saw Jesus, he ran and fell at his knees before Him in homage."

Verse 7 continues, "And crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? [What is there in common between us?] I solemnly implore You by God, do not begin to torment me!" Jesus also said in John 14:30 (AMPC), "...the prince (evil genius, ruler) of this world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me."

Legion recognized that there was something different about this man, Jesus – that there was nothing in this Man that was in common with Legion and Legion recognized that he had no ability to torment Jesus. In fact, Jesus could torment Legion! Legion recognized that this Man standing in front of him was the Messiah. This may have been the first man he had ever come across who didn't have any wounds in His soul created by sin!

The demoniac was tormented by Legion because of the wounds in his soul. I looked up the word 'tombs' because it is repeated three times. In the Greek it means, "to recall or to remember," and "a monument set up to cause a perpetual remembrance." A soul wound is a monument inside our soul that causes us to be perpetually affected by events that happened years ago. It's a tomb with a dead body in it, living inside our soul. It causes us to be perpetually controlled by a horrible event. That man, who was under the control of the spirit of Legion, was living among the tombs. He was living out of the wounds in his soul. And because wounds in his soul were created by sin, it gave Legion the legal right to afflict him!

Lesson 3: How Soul Wounds Work

I have lived out the revelation of dwelling among the tombs and I am going to share with you how soul wounds work.

In Oklahoma, I had a dream that I was cooking methamphetamines. However, I haven't done that for over a decade (see my bio below for my testimony). God talks to us through our dreams and visions and I believe that He was showing me a big wound that had been formed in my soul from when I manufactured meth. I didn't know why He was telling me at that particular moment, but by faith and obedience I moved on it. I repented for making meth and applied the Blood of Jesus to the sin. Then I began to apply dunamis power to the wounds that sin had made. It took just fifteen minutes to get healed!

Later, with my spiritual senses, I smelled chemicals that are used in cooking meth when I walked into the room I was to minister in. So, I spoke to the woman who was hosting the meeting, "I had a dream last night about cooking meth and now I can smell those chemicals. Do you know anything about that?" She said, "Yes, when we were first renting this building, we were told that this room had been used for a methamphetamine lab."

This is a whole new way to take dominion over the enemy! I needed dominion in that place. I could not have anything in my soul that was in common with demonic powers over that room, or I would not have the authority to do what I needed to do. So God showed me the wound in my soul, created by sin, which was attached to the demonic over that room; I got dominion and signs and wonders broke out!

You've been praying for your child and wondering why you have not been getting breakthrough. It's because they wounded your soul. They wounded your soul and you wounded theirs! There are demonic powers attached to those wounds that you both have in common. You are trying to kick that demon off of them and that demon is standing back going, "Oh, good luck with that! I'm on both of you!" You need to get your soul healed first.

The healing of your soul is directly connected to healing in your physical body and in your finances. "Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper (there's your finances) and be in health (there's your body), even as thy soul prospereth" (3 John 2 KJV commentary mine). Where is the miracle that you have been waiting for in your money? It's stored up in Heaven and it is going to come when you get your soul healed, because the wounds on your soul control every part of your being—your mind, your will and your emotions.

If you got the blessing right now, soul wounds would control the way you think about the blessing and would control your emotions causing you to act fleshly and emotional. They would control your will—your ability to choose to do the right thing with the blessing. Also, the healing of your soul is directly connected to your physical health. Back-aches, neck-aches, diseases—all kinds of health issues—can manifest because there are wounds on our soul.

My first time in Virginia, I got sick with a temperature of 103 degrees. I got bladder and yeast infections, a headache, and a sore throat (I couldn't think and could barely talk). By the time I got to the pastor's home, I was overcome. In the past, I would have made furious war with the enemy, but now I know that if I get sick that quickly, I have a wound in my soul that is in common with the demonic powers over that region. Instead of warring, which makes me tired, frustrated, and confused about why it's not working, I began to apply the Blood of Jesus and Dunamis power to my soul to get my healing.

I had a vision of God leading me to five closets in five different rooms. God said, "There are wounded parts of you hiding in the closets." I pulled my wounded self out of the closet and went into another room and pulled another wounded "me" out until I got all five out and they were all together. Then I saw Jesus put His glory and His light all around them and they were instantly healed. Once those wounded parts were healed, I could make war. (Photo via Unsplash)

As I fought against this demonic power, it came up and spoke to me. I recognized the demonic force; it was Legion! I had been living among the tombs! Legion was the biggest demon I had dealt with in the natural that actually manifested in front of my face. He spoke to me in a voice that was very loud. He said, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" And I said, "IN THE NAME OF JESUS GET OUT!" I felt it rip off of my body and I was instantly healed. Legion is a big demon, but he came off that easily because I had already gotten my tombs (the wounds in my soul) healed!

Lesson 4: Healing in His Wings

James 1:21 says that if we receive the Word implanted in us, it has the power to save our souls. Counseling can help save your soul; I know some great Christian counselors. But, I see counseling as taking a long time to get people healed. Well, we don't have a lot of time! Millions of people all over the planet are entering the Kingdom. Their spirits are being made perfect instantly, but their souls are a mess! They have not been taught about the soul.

I know many Christians who have been Believers for thirty years that are a big mess because no one has taught them about their soul. When I minister in a prison, I've got two to three hours to get people saved, healed, and delivered. I needed an accelerated tool, a supernatural tool, to heal the soul.

We began to pray into this problem. We believed that if we needed it, God was going to give it to us and that God would reveal a supernatural tool to us. One of our team members had a vision that Jesus began to shoot laser beams into peoples' souls in one of our meetings and everybody began to get healed. I believed that God was saying, "This is it. This is the tool!" But, I wanted to see it in Scripture.

Is there Biblical proof that light can heal the soul? Doctors use light to heal our skin, hair, and brain, but can light actually heal something less tangible like your soul – your mind, will, and emotions? According to Scripture it can. In Malachi 4:2 (AMPC) it says: "...shall the Sun of Righteousness (meaning Jesus) arises with healing in His wings and His beams..."

The word "beams" means there are beams of light. So Jesus comes with healing in His beams of light, but does that light actually heal the soul? I looked up the word, "healing" in the Hebrew. The word is marpe which means, among other things, to be sound of mind. What's your mind? It's part of your soul. It comes from the Hebrew root word, rapha, which means to be healed of your personal distresses. So, according to that Scripture, the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, arises with healing for your soul that causes you to be sound of mind (marpe) and to be healed of your soul wounds, your personal distresses (rapha) through His wings and His beams of light. I call it the "glory light" because that Scripture says, "He comes with healing in His wings and His beams." Wings are the Hebrew word, kanaph, meaning the corner of the prayer shawl. The prayer shawl represents the glory of God in the Hebrew tradition! Jewish couples get married under the hoopa, which represents the glory of God at the foot of Mt. Horeb; under the pillar of the glory cloud. Jesus comes with healing for your soul in His "wings" (which is His glory) and His beams of light. It's the glory light that heals your wounds.

We are transformed into His image – into His likeness – from glory encounter to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). Every time we get into the glory, the tangible presence of God, we get transformed. The glory cloud is actually made of light (read Matthew 17:1-13, AMPC). When Jesus went up to the Mt. of Transfiguration, He was covered by the cloud. It says that the cloud came down and it was "composed of light." That's why, when the glory is manifesting, we are transformed into His image, because in that glory is light and Jesus' light can heal our soul. Only Jesus' light, not any other kind of light, heals our soul. He is the light.

"Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, 'I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is life.'" (John 8:12, AMPC)

That word life in the Greek is the word Zoe. It means "the fullness that God has for us in life". But it also refers to the soul. Jesus came to bring light to the soul so that we can have the fullness of life that God has promised us. Jesus is talking in Luke 11:34 (AMPC) and says, "Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye (your conscience) is sound and fulfilling its office, your whole body is full of light..." He's talking about the eye which means the faculty of knowing, i.e., the mind, not just our physical eye. We have all heard the expression, "The eye is the window to the soul." This is speaking of the soul and how to cause the soul to be sound and fulfilling its office. This happens when our whole body is full of light.

All the parts of our soul – mind, will, and emotions – were created by God to fulfill specific jobs; to hold specific offices in our bodies. This happens when our whole body is filled with light. When we begin soaking and are saturated with the glory light of Jesus, then our mind is going to be sound. We will begin thinking right thoughts and making right decisions. We are going to feel good, God-given emotions instead of rage, anger, and jealousy.
