It can start inside the relationship with bad communication, too much criticism and constant disagreements. It can start outside the relationship with issues at work or problems with your friends and family too.

The responses to stress are very different for men and women. Men tend to shift gears, disengage, and forget their problems. Women are usually compelled to connect, ask questions, and share their problems.

These differences can be extremely destructive in a relationship if they are not recognized and respected.

Stress, whether from inside or outside your relationship, is also likely to affect your personal health, which can affect your relationship even more.
