Brenda and Ben Peters: "A Revelation About THIS Harvest!"

by Brenda and Ben Peters
Aug 22, 2016

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

I believe many of our readers, who love the prophetic, are growing weary...hearing over and over that a great revival and harvest IS COMING.

Jesus, through this experience, is communicating that it's time to stop prophesying, "What is coming" and to start declaring, "What is here," RIGHT NOW!

God is about to re-tool this younger generation for this amazing Harvest that we are in the very midst of!

Not being one to have many significant dreams, my wife, Brenda was very surprised by this extremely vivid and colorful dream one recent morning. She sees many visions, but has few prophetic dreams. As she shared it with me, it didn't take a genius to realize that it was a clear prophetic word from God.

The Car Bumps the Pickup Truck

In this dream she was driving a car and bumped into a beautiful blue streamlined pickup truck, driven by a younger couple we knew. There was nothing negative about the encounter, and there was no harm to either vehicle. However, as a result of the quick bump, the truck began moving forward quickly past a picturesque red barn into a golden field of ripened wheat. It drove all the way to the end of the field and headed back towards the farmyard. When it got there it turned around and headed back to the far end. It kept going back and forth, making a new path each time.

The field was being positively impacted and the grain was being harvested. The truck finally came to rest plowing into a tall haystack. Then she saw the couple just laughing out loud, like it had been a hilariously fun ride.

Vehicles usually represent ministries in dreams. I believe Brenda represents prophetic and financial encouragement. She is well-known as the one who gives encouraging words to most of the people she meets, not just in meetings, but also whenever the occasion presents itself. She is also one who loves to give financially from her own limited resources to anyone in need of help or encouragement.

The young man in the dream owns an older work truck for the trade he is currently working in. But this truck was much newer and very classy. This couple had previously been heavily involved in missions and pastoral ministry, but circumstances had required the husband to work full-time to support his family. They are still involved in ministry but are not free to devote themselves to it as they had before. (Photo via Wikimedia)

I believe the bump from our car (or ministry) to their pickup represents both prophetic and financial encouragement, or push, from the older generation to the younger. The younger generation will not be using older, outdated ministry methods and strategies, but will be using efficient and advanced strategies from Heaven. A pickup is designed for work, but this truck was designed to do it with beauty and grace. The truck criss-crossed the field, like it was being controlled or driven by a power or energy out of human control. It was an exhilarating experience for them.

We are all aware of the fact that "pioneering missionaries" often face incredible difficulties and much hard work. But those of us who have been to Mozambique with Heidi and Rolland Baker have seen that missions can also be very fun and exciting. I believe God has called the Bakers and Iris Ministries, and others like them to model "missions of the future".

Missions will always require passion, dedication, Bible knowledge and some training, but it will also be characterized by learning to follow the spontaneous guidance of the Holy Spirit, along with the blessings of modern technology and Heavenly provision. This was represented by the sleek and streamlined looks of the pickup in the dream. The result of being spontaneously led by the Holy Spirit will be a steady stream of signs, wonders and miracles.

I also believe the classy-looking pickup is confirmation of the coming of the great "transfer of wealth" that many have prophesied over the past couple of decades. The harvest will require resources for travel and for blessing the poor, and for renting or purchasing facilities like stadiums to host extended meetings where miracles are happening and multitudes are coming to Christ all over the world. Perhaps, for the first time since the early Church, the Kingdom will expand without hindrance from lack of resources. (Photo via Wikipedia)

The dream ended with the couple driving into a haystack or pile of straw. Straw is what is left after the grain is harvested. It signaled the end of the harvest, where they experienced the joy of the harvest (Isa 9:3). They were rejoicing about the results of their adventure on the harvest field.

The Essence and Application of This Message From Heaven

Brenda's dream is just one more confirmation of what we've been hearing from God from so many different sources. So what is the essence and the application of God's message through this dream?

Above all else, I believe God is repeating Himself over and over again, because we are not really getting it yet. He also is stressing the urgency of the hour and the fact that the precise timing of His visitation is upon us.

Recently, I was reading my Bible on my iPhone Bible app. Somehow, the app had switched from Isaiah, where I had been reading previously, to the Gospel of John. I found myself reading John 4, about the woman of Samaria, and how Jesus told her about Living Water and mentioned the fact that she'd had five husbands. But what really moved my spirit was what Jesus said to His disciples about the harvest being ripe already. I was not thinking at all about Brenda's dream, but the Holy Spirit was giving me a confirmation about this prophetic word.

This is what Jesus said to His disciples: "Do you not say, there are four months and then comes the harvest? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest" (John 4:35 NKJV). I had never seen Jesus' first statement as a question, but as a command, "Do not say!" This is interesting, because we have to ask ourselves, "Do we also say, revival (or the harvest) is coming sometime soon?" Or do we believe the harvest is ready now and God needs us to set other things aside to do our part to bring it in?

Our first pastorate was in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, Canada. We learned a lot about harvest time there. When the wheat was ripe, it was all hands on deck. Everyone had a role and other activities were put on hold. Some drove combines or trucks. Some prepared hearty meals for those working very long hours.

The whole family was focused on the harvest, which represented their provision for the next year. So many things could go wrong if you didn't get the grain harvested as quickly as possible. It could rain or snow or freeze and destroy the value of the crop. It represented either prosperity or poverty, and no one took it lightly. (Photo via Wikipedia)

Sow Into the Younger Generation - the Harvest Field is Waiting

I believe the Lord is speaking again and saying, "I am wooing My people into My heart of love and intimacy. I love spending time with you and bringing you into My heart. But I am also asking you the question I asked of Isaiah, who was brought before Me and experienced the glory of My presence. I asked, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?'

"Today, I am asking those who love My presence and have been blessed by My anointing and gifts, 'Will you go for Me into My harvest field and empower others as well?' I love all those I have created, and I do not desire that anyone should perish. Will you help bring in the harvest? Will you be like Isaiah and say, 'Here am I, send me?' The task may be hard at times, but there will also be great joy and incredible blessings, and I will always be with you. Can I count on you?'"

Proverbs 10:5 says, "He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame." Like Jesus' disciples, we often are too busy to realize what season we are actually in. If we don't gather in summer, like many animals in nature, it will be too late when winter arrives. Let's not bring shame on the family of God, by sleeping through His harvest.

The essence of the message of Brenda's dream is that God wants to use us, the older generation, to give the younger generation a prophetic and financial push whenever we can, because the harvest field is waiting. They have the spiritual resources needed, but often are just sitting there waiting for a prophetic confirmation and the resources to accomplish the task. I don't know how many times people have told us that the word we gave them some years ago changed their lives and activated them to serve God like never before. (Photo via Wikipedia)

Another practical opportunity God gave us for several years was to give free room and board (after our children had all moved out) to several young adults who were developing their worship and other ministry skills in our houses of prayer and our ministry training events. We would come and go in our traveling ministry, but they were able to have a safe and affordable place to live, so they could focus on ministry and training. Not everyone can do what we did, but everyone can do something to give that boost to a harvester who needs it.

Several years ago, the Lord led me to write a book called, "Prophetic Ministry, Strategic Key to the Harvest." We shared how Jesus and the apostles used prophetic ministry to both create faith in the unbeliever and to prepare the way for the greater miracles. John the Baptist, the prophet, prepared the way for Jesus, the Miracle Worker.

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was a prophetic experience, as God was speaking to people in their own languages. It was followed by the healing of the lame man at the temple and many other miracles. Prophetic ministry is hugely important, and we must use it for the building up and empowering the Body of Christ to do His work in expanding His Kingdom. It will be a powerful tool for bringing in God's harvest.

The Lord of the Harvest is again calling for His reapers to invade the fields of ripened grain. He is asking us all to do our part. He is giving us the privilege of serving Him and giving us all the tools we need. It's a very exciting time, even though the world looks like a very scary place. It's often the crises that brings an awakening and prepares us for the knowledge of the glory of the Lord to cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Ben and Brenda Peters have said "YES" to the call of God to challenge, equip, and send dedicated lovers of Jesus into the harvest fields of the earth, including the seven mountains of society. Together they have ministered to tens of thousands of individuals in several countries of the world. After establishing and serving churches and Christian schools for almost thirty years, they began a traveling ministry in September 1999 under the name Open Heart Ministries. This ministry consisted mainly of speaking, teaching, preaching, and prophesying in conferences, camps, retreats, churches, ministry schools, and homes.

More recently, they also founded an Illinois-based ministry called Kingdom Sending Center after hearing a clear word from God during a Heidi Baker meeting in Chicago. Ben began writing revelatory books in 2000, and has published 23 of them since then. His newest book is THE KINGDOM BUILDING CHURCH – Experiencing the Explosive Potential of the Church in Kingdom Building Mode.
