Paulette Reed: "The Flooding of God's Glory and Power"

Can you see it? The flooding of God's Spirit is coming. Let's all draw near to Him and ask Him to flood our homes, our souls, our marriages, and the marketplace, for everything the water touches will spring to life.

Saints, let's keep up our prayers...they are greatly needed and imperative in this hour. So many are hurting and need to know the infinite power of God's love... and YOU are the one that gets to carry His glory and power to those who need it....

Demons Need a Dry Place

While sitting in church recently, I was praying for some friends in Texas who were experiencing flooding. My prayers then went to those who are struggling with the flooding of grief, addictions, and darkness. In the midst of my prayers, however, Holy Spirit suddenly spoke to my heart and said, "Demons need a dry place."

I thought, "Well yes, Lord, I know they do in accordance with Your Word. But where are we going with this?" I carried the word in my heart for two or three days until God started to download some truth regarding what He spoke to me earlier that week in church.

In Matthew 12:43-45, Jesus tells about how demons seek dry places to rest:

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, "I will return to my house from which I came." And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.

Unclean spirits roam about seeking to inhabit dry places where there is no water. While they roam, they look for a body in which to live, a dwelling place that's dry; they look for an arid place, waterless and lifeless. There are some who say that Believers can't be oppressed by an evil spirit, but what about a Believer who is not well watered?

In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is approached by a man who was possessed by demons (a legion of them, which is about two thousand). When the demons saw Jesus, one of them cried out with a loud voice and said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me" (Mark 5:6-7).

The evil spirits begged Jesus to send them into a herd of swine that was grazing on a nearby hillside. Of course, the spirits were being deceptive because that's what they do (they deceive!), and they intended to drive the swine into the wilderness. Jesus, in all of His wisdom, permitted the demons to enter the swine. But Scripture says, "Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand [go figure!]); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea" (Mark 5:13). We can clearly see here why Jesus allowed the demons to run to the herd of pigs—He knew they would drown in the sea. Demons need a dry place.

Spiritual Truth

The truth is that Jesus never does anything in the physical realm without there being spiritual truth behind it. This incident has great spiritual significance for us today. The swine were compelled by the Spirit of God to run into the sea. That's it! That was the end of that demonic possession.

In John 7:38 the Word says, "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." The water that the hogs were driven into typifies Holy Spirit! He is the Living Water, and His latter rain is about to fall as life-giving power and glory are poured out as a flood upon the whole world (see Acts 2:17). We are about to see passion, fire, wind, glory, signs, wonders and miracles like never before.

Dry Places

The dry places that demons seek to inhabit can be people who are not totally filled with the presence of God. In fact, Psalm 68:6 says, "The rebellious dwell in a dry land." Ouch! We certainly never want to be rebellious, and we certainly never want to live in a dry land without the refreshing water of God's presence in our lives. A dry place could be a Believer who has neglected his or her time in the Word or spending time with the Lord in prayer and worship. What about pre-believers, though? Of course they're going to be dry places until we tell them about Jesus and they have had an opportunity to invite Him into their hearts and be born again.

God does not want demons to harass or control anyone at any time. He is not willing that any should perish but that all would come to eternal life. So, as always, He has a wonderful plan for each and every person upon this earth. It is a plan that will turn the enemies on themselves, causing chaos in the kingdom of darkness as they drown in the sea.

The Marvelous Plan

As we see the flooding on the earth, as my friends in Texas are experiencing, we think of how 1 Corinthians 15:46 tells us that first the natural occurs and then the spiritual. God is going to send forth floods of water on dry grounds. This is seen in Ezekiel's vision:

"Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side. And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist. Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed." Ezekiel 47:1-5

How awesome is that? Talk about flooding. Every living thing that moves, wherever the river goes, will come to life! We must be people who are filled with life, and filled with the presence and power and glory of God. Let's truly stay focused on the glory of God, because the more we talk about something the more it manifests.

We want to be like Jesus who says in John 14:30-31, "I don't have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let's be going [to do the Father's will!]."

The Earth Will Be Filled

The more we're individually filled, then the more churches will be corporately filled. The more churches are corporately filled, like we're seeing in San Diego and around the world right now, the more the overflow will flood out into the streets and into other churches so there won't be any dry places. Everywhere the Living Water flows, life will suddenly spring up! Can you hear the rattling? God told Ezekiel, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord'" (Ezekiel 37:4). The Word of the Lord promises restoration and revival.

Can you see it? The flooding of God's Spirit is coming. Let's all draw near to Him and ask Him to flood our homes, our souls, our marriages, and the marketplace, for everything the water touches will spring to life. Let's spend more time in the Bible so that there are no "empty places" in our souls. Let's spend more time worshiping the Father and praying each and every day, letting the Living Waters fill us and then flow out of innermost being to everyone we meet.

Let's flood the political system with the glory of God! Let's flood businesses and schools and all of the mission fields that we step onto every day with our God. For He is the Kingdom and the power and the glory. Oh, what a marvelous plan He has. As we do this, then we will see exactly what Habakkuk 2:14 was referring to when he declared, "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
