Acts 23 tells us that 40 chief priests and elders fasted together until Paul was killed.
In fact when Paul's nephew found out about the plot to ambush and kill Paul a commander in
the army says in verse 23:
"Get 200 soldiers ready to leave for Caesarea at nine o'clock
tonight. Also take 200 spearmen and 70 mounted troops. Provide horses for Paul to ride,
and get him safely to Governor Felix."
Think about that for a moment.
470 ARMED GUARDS WERE ASSIGNED TO PAUL!
These men had...SWORDS...SPEARS...and they were trained in how to use them to kill others.
The President of the United States doesn't even have that type of escort.
If they needed 470 to guard him, how many soldiers were sent in to kill him?
Was he that much of a threat?
YES!!!!
Imagine that.
A follower of Yeshua the Messiah walking in so much power and authority that a small army was sent to stop him...1 person...Hoorah!!!

Let's go a little further.
What were they all afraid of?
Why was the enemy so terrified of one follower that he inspired an army to kill him and chief priests and elders to fast for his death.
When was the last time you entered a town and the entire clergy fasted to kill you and hired an army to make sure it was done?
Never happened? Really?
Me neither... I've come close to being banned but never armies.
Anyway, this is one person!
By the way Acts 23 shows just how much political influence Paul actually had. He is friends with Governor's, rulers, Commanders of entire armies...
Oh and Paul was a business owner/entrepreneur who ended up writing a whole bunch of BestSellers that are still selling today and being read by BILLIONS all over the world!
And he moved and operated as a powerful Apostle, Prophet, Teacher that had signs and wonders follow him. |
