Kathie Walters and Mark Virkler: "The Shower with the Golden Water" and "Deliverance Came BEFORE Water Baptism in the Early Church"

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

Years ago, my friend David said to me, "Steve, you've got the 'family of God' issues DOWN COLD. No problem! But you don't know ONE THING about Spiritual Warfare!"

He was right. I didn't want to deal with warfare because it wasn't fun. It wasn't the positive happy side of things. Over the years, I've learned a great deal about warfare, deliverance, enemy strongholds and more!

Many in the Church believe that once they got saved, no demons could touch them. If that is true, why have so many fallen, in the Church, to things such as addiction, pornography, adultery and more? Many times these things are brought on because of strong demonic activity against you.

We have to learn how to fight to be free from this demonic activity. Here are two helpful articles by Kathie Walters and Mark Virkler!

An Invitation for Deliverance

There are times when God draws our attention to something so that we can receive a blessing. You know if you want to give and to be a blessing like your heavenly Father – you also have to learn how to receive. You can't give what you don't have, can you? Our first calling is to enjoy God, He called you first to enjoy Him, then you are able to pass on some LIFE. If you don't enjoy God you will just be passing on some religion – no one wants that do they? There's enough of that around already.

As I woke one morning a while ago, I saw this huge, gigantic glass shower with huge glass doors. The shower was showering down inside the glass and the water was golden. I saw people throw off their outer garments and jump in the shower with a joyful abandonment. It made me laugh as they were like children, jumping in the river on a hot day.

Then God started talking to me, "Remind people there is deliverance available." When you are thinking about and celebrating Jesus, remember it's about SALVATION, isn't it?

When Jesus died and rose again, He conquered death and led captivity captive. He made salvation available to the likes of you and me. His marvelous salvation also includes some other wonderful things. Salvation includes restoration – that's a promise to receive. He restores us back to our right standing with the Father. He is our righteousness. His salvation includes healing as He paid for our sicknesses on the Cross. "By His stripes you were healed." That's physical, mental and healing for your soul. Many people have a wounded soul, because of their pathway in life. (Photo via Pixabay)

Baptism, Healing and Deliverance

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a promise to receive, for He is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. The promise is unto you and to your children and those afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. That's YOU isn't it? You are called and you have a marvelous destiny.

All of these wonderful things Jesus made available when He rose again and sat down at the Father's right hand. But you see, everything is available, but nothing is automatic. You have to receive it! Salvation is available, but to benefit from it you have to receive Christ into your life as Lord. Healing is available but you have to receive Jesus, the Healer.

My daughter, Faith, was saved when she was four. She was hungry for God and wanted to speak in tongues. One night two angels came and took her to Heaven; they took her around and then brought her to Jesus. Jesus spoke to her and baptized her in the Holy Spirit and she came back speaking in tongues. Even a little child can ask – they don't have a baby Holy Spirit.

When I got baptized in the Holy Spirit, I found out that I could get healed. It took me a little while to figure out how to get healed, as everything up to that point had been only in my head. I had loads of great theology, but God sent an angel and He helped me get into a place to RECEIVE the healing I needed.

But then the biggest thing that made the most difference to me was when I found out about DELIVERANCE. He is the Deliverer – a Deliverer came. It never entered my head that there could actually be demons affecting my life, because I assumed that side of things wasn't real and didn't affect me. I thought I had some personality problems and I wrestled with those things as a Christian, but that's the way it was.

So now deliverance. I thought, "What have we here?" We got thrown into the deep end when we came into the realm of the Holy Spirit. The day after we were filled with the Holy Spirit, the people who brought us in kind of tossed us into a room full of people and said, "Pray for those people to prophesy." "What's that?" we asked, but they didn't have time to tell us. So we did as we were asked and that's how we learned... (Photo by Jennifer Page "Fire Starter Poem" via elijahshopper.com)

DELIVERANCE for You and Me

To cut a longer story short, some people we were around started getting words of knowledge and the Lord allowed things to manifest in our lives. Over the next year I got delivered from Freemasonry, spirit of death, false light, etc. That was major in my life and when those spirits left, it became very easy for me to get in the spirit realm then.

Religious spirits, a whole bunch of them, took flight and then I wasn't sure who I really was. These religious spirits were part of my personality, or so I thought. I was lighter, free-er, joyful, and dead works, dead letters, dead words, false standards, false responsibility, etc. left, and I felt them go from my back and from the top of my head and neck. Emotional things such as rejection, sorrow, sadness, etc. were a group of spirits that had been passed down through my family.

Someone asks, "How do you know if something is a spirit?" The answer is pretty simple. If it's something that you fight against, but really in the end have no control over, then you know there is a demonic spirit there that needs to be cast out. Can Christians have demons?" someone asks. Sure they can. Christians can have anything they like. Jesus is the DELIVERER so deliverance is available but it's not automatic; you do have to use your authority in Jesus name and tell the demons to go.

Generational Spirits

The Holy Spirit was moving powerfully in our home and someone staying at our house had some words of knowledge. I got delivered from some major spirits from India. I admit I was a bit freaked out. My father's family was in the British Army in India. My father was not saved, so I don't know where he may have gone when they were there. One spirit was connected with the Taj Mahal! When my friend called out these spirits, my whole body went like stone and these things left from my feet. (Photo by Jennifer Page "Consuming Fire" via elijahshopper.com)

The enemy doesn't want you in the spirit realm because then he is discovered, right? The devil doesn't care what you do or how many church meetings you go to as long as you don't get into the anointing. You can't affect his kingdom outside of the anointing.

So be encouraged and ask God to show you anything that's hidden and command things to come to the surface. Jesus is a faithful High Priest. Tell Him you don't want to hide anything – cast off the outer things and step into God's anointed, golden rain SHOWER.

It's anointed, it has golden (anointed) water to wash away the curses from the generations, religious spirits and all kinds of other junk that you may have picked up along the way or inherited from various situations.

Meanwhile I can't answer all your questions, but Jesus is the Deliverer and you can ask Him to tell you how YOU can receive your deliverance. He has made that provision already.

Between 1/4 and 1/3 of Jesus' prayers/commands for divine intervention involved the casting out of demons. This ratio is often not practiced today, although I personally have made it my goal to practice it. So what was the attitude of the early Church concerning the matter of casting out of demons as people became Believers?

Deliverance FIRST, Baptism Follows

In the book, Satan, The Early Christian Tradition by Jeffery Burton Russell, on page 101 we find this quote: "Until about A.D. 200, baptism was often preceded by a rite of exorcism. Beginning about 200, the exorcism and formal renunciation of satan were incorporated into the baptismal rite. You may view the original quote here.

In the book, Possession and Exorcism in the New Testament and Early Christianity published by Mohr-Siebeck Verlag and authored by Erik Sorensen, on page 200 we find the following: In 258 AD the "Seventh Counsel of Carthage viewed exorcism as a preliminary step toward the re-baptism of heretics. Exorcism also appears before baptism in the Apostolic Tradition."

Mention is also made of the following: "In the early third century, East Syrian Acts of Thomas where exorcism takes place before the baptismal 'sealing'."

How much of a difference do you think it would make if the modern Church did this?

Can you imagine what it would be like if we ensured the demons were out of new Believers as we embraced them into the Body of Christ? Once the darkness is out, the light can shine. Can you picture the healed marriages, families, the restored health and vitality, and ability to freely pursue your destiny without the baggage of demonic influence? (Photo via Pixabay)

If we don't cast them out, then they hang around messing up people's lives, promoting division and divorce, pride and arrogance, sickness and infirmity. We can try to counsel the folks, or perhaps drug them into zombies so they can't act out.

Don't you think restoring deliverance to the Church is the better way to go?

I vote to restore deliverance as a normative, natural ongoing practice which is a standard protocol for all new Believers. Why not? We have been under the dominion of the prince of the power of darkness. Why not firmly, fully and completely kick him and his demons out when we enter into the Kingdom of light. If it was good enough for Jesus to do, it is good enough for us to do!

My Personal Experience with Deliverance

I have been through deliverance on a couple of occasions, and both were life-changing. Early in my Christian life I had a demon of fear of stroke cast out of me, and my tendency to wake up in the morning feeling I had had a stroke and was paralyzed, was instantly and completely gone.

Later in my Christian life, I had a husband/wife team spend 3 hours with me and cast out about 20 demons I had picked up as a result of responding poorly to the slaps of life, and allowing festering anger, doubt, unforgiveness, fear and much more to fill my heart.

In the New Testament, people cast demons out of other people, rather than you casting them out of yourself. I guess we will need to be humble and admit our need for deliverance.

When I first got saved, I was trying so hard to be perfect; it was hard to admit I still sinned. Now, it is 48 years later, and it is easy to admit that I sin, and I receive His cleansing Blood simply, freely, and daily. No sweat!

Jesuits do an annual spiritual retreat which involves a house cleaning of anything they may have picked up during the past year. Sounds like an extremely wise thing to do. I choose repentance and restoration over pride and justification. My passion is to walk in the fullness of God for me, so turning from my sins is a natural, ongoing part of this.
