Doug Addison and Kent Simpson: "Suddenly a Sound Came from Heaven" and "Moving Into Signs and Wonders"

This word is short but very potent. We are upon Pentecost Sunday, which is the celebration of the Day of Pentecost on the same day/weekend that Israel celebrates it.

Some of you have heard or read that I often pray to the Lord, "Lord, SURPRISE ME with how You answer my prayers today."

I think God loves to surprise us anyway, but when I PRAY for a surprise, it's that much SWEETER when it happens. I thought of that when I read this prophetic word by Doug:

God spoke to me that this week will be a time of "things happening suddenly." Expect to see sudden changes, sudden acceleration, sudden surprises, blessings, and more. This is all designed to align you with the next season of your life.

Be encouraged by this PENTECOST WORD!

And Kent's word is also SPOT ON for this Pentecost Season. In this word he states:

Some Believers feel we are putting too much emphasis on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and spiritualization. They instruct us to evangelize more than move in the gifts. Well, this is what Jesus said about signs and wonders: "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe" (John 4:48).

I used to feel that Jesus was rebuking or chewing out the people for wanting signs and wonders. Instead, He was informing them that without signs and wonders, we would NEVER Believe. So He gifted HIS BODY with the ability to perform signs and wonders, so that more and more people would come to the LORD!

On this Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost to remember the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the early Church, just as Jesus promised.

Acts 2:2 "And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting."

God spoke to me that this week will be a time of "things happening suddenly." Expect to see sudden changes, sudden acceleration, sudden surprises, blessings, and more. This is all designed to align you with the next season of your life.

Major Wind of Change

Acts 2:6 "And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language."

Just as in Acts 2, there is a new wind and sound coming from Heaven right now.

New revelation that might seem confusing at first will flow freely as God speaks to each of us. This is because it might be outside of your comfort zone. The result will be a deeper understanding and change of direction. (Photo via flickr)

New Alliances will Form

The new wind from Heaven in Acts 2 brought new people groups together. People are going to be drawn to this shift in the spiritual realm. As God begins to speak at a deeper level you may find yourself needing to explain to others what is happening.

Isaiah 60:22 "...The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly."

God is gathering small groups together to do something great. It is important to be aligned in the right place, at the right time and with the right people for the second half of the year.

Get Ready to Receive

Prepare yourself by being aware of it. For some it might be subtle and others will have a more dramatic encounter. Either way, a new sound and wind of the Spirit is coming this week.

Why Signs and Wonders? Is There Too Much Emphasis on the Spirit and His Gifts?

Many of us fall into the trap of condemning those who do not know or respect our Lord Jesus, but in doing so we miss the blessing and opportunity that our Lord gives us to bring them into His presence.

Jesus wants us to be obedient to His call. If you are where Jesus wants you to be at the right time and the right place, you will see signs and wonders and the unbelievers will believe.

Prophetic evangelism is the way our Lord is leading His people during this spiritually hostile age. "But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you" (1 Corinthians 14:24-25).

How to Step Out and Move More in the Holy Spirit Signs and Wonders

Most everyone I talk to wants to see God move more in the Church, but how are we going to do that? From the pulpits we have spent far too many years teaching on the miracle-working powers of God without the demonstration. Many words have been given to thousands upon thousands of folks, claiming they have this or that gift, but too many of those people are still waiting for God to start using them.

Over the years, a few have stepped out and given their all to God; they started moving into their specialized gift. We can only talk about signs and wonders for so long before people stop believing. The people who are lost and lukewarm must see the signs and wonders that we preach and teach about so that they may believe as Scripture says: "For the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power" (1 Corinthians 4:20) and, "...having a form of godliness but denying its power..." As I've share some of this from my previous article, Jesus Christ is not in the entertainment business. Don't think that we are going to be entertained by the Holy Spirit. If you want to see the gifts subside or fade away, then stop bringing the lost into church. The signs and wonders are for unbelievers to witness so that they may believe as well as help the Believers with their needs, but they are not to entertain the Church.

Many times we are surrounded by those who need Jesus Christ but are not Christians. They need a miracle in their lives. That is the time to allow the signs and wonders of God to flow through you. This is the time when God wants to show His best. You can say to them in faith, "My God will fix your problem if you give Him your life. Do you want to be healed? But if you want my God to heal you, then give yourself to Him right now." Then watch and see what God will do. This is what it is all about! Even prophecies, words of knowledge, and wisdom, are for this purpose – so that they may believe.

When a prophetic word is given, it is for the purpose of knowing that God can speak directly to us. Christ will reveal to you that the prophetic word given is the truth. The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable. The main reason we have the gift of prophecy is to edify, exhort, and build up the Church so that they may change a lost and dying world.

There are many who have the gift of healings. "Healings" is plural. Each one has a gift for different healings. One might be able to pray and remove headaches. Another may have the gift for healing diabetes, but not headaches. Each person needs to find out their particular healing gift. Many get frustrated because of ignorance. There is a "vein" that you need to flow in order for your gift to work 100% of the time. When you preach about hearing God, they will hear God. If you preach about healing, they will be healed. And if you preach about demons, guess what? They will find demons. I preach so that people are encouraged and that they may receive an introduction to Christ our Lord and Christianity.

What are You Waiting For?

It does not matter how long you have been a Christian. You can be present in the natural but not yet arrived in the spiritual. You do not need to be a Biblical scholar to be able to move in the Holy Spirit. Some of the most anointed people are those who cannot read or write. God chooses the foolish. He does not choose the noble or the wise, but the willing, the yielded. This is what God wants: "For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called" (1 Corinthians 1:26).

Many people are waiting for God to move in their lives after they finish reading all the books of the Bible. Worshipping your Bible will not get you signs and wonders! But worshipping the One the Bible is about will. There is so much more to learn about Jesus by walking and talking to Him daily. You will learn so much more by allowing Him to use you ministering in signs and wonders than reading the testimonies of others who have. I have learned more about our Lord Jesus by hearing Him for others than I could ever learn from ten thousand sermons and teachings.

We need to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit so that we will know what He wants us to do. We need to have our spiritual antennas up at all times. Like Apostle Paul said, "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17), meaning be in a state of mind to hear His Spirit 24/7/365. The only effective way for this to happen is to turn off the world and turn up the voice of Christ in your life. (Photo via Pixabay)

It is so easy to listen to the spirit of fear, but Scripture says if do not entertain the devil that he will flee. Resist the devil and he will flee. Do not listen to the voice of the devil when he brings fear into your life. "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Seek the Lord and ask Him what to do, and you will receive revelation on how to get out of the situation, but only if you will humble yourself before Him. There is hope, a lot more than you know. Know who you are in Christ. Get out of your identity crisis and you will find much, much more to this life than retiring after thirty years of service and collecting your pension. Walking with Jesus and allowing Him to use you in signs and wonders is a big part of the abundant life He promised. "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
