Al Thomas: "The Power of the Prophetic is Expanding – Giving Purpose, Hope and Vision"

by Al Thomas
May 8, 2015

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

Are you wanting to grow in your prophetic gifts??? This word and testimony by Al Thomas will greatly encourage you... that a great increase is coming. AND there is no age limit to prophesying! I've seen both children and the elderly being very prophetic! Al Thomas even shares here that he sees "the elderly stepping into prophetic roles."

Here is a great testimony by Al Thomas of how the prophetic impacted his own life:

My own calling and conversion was a massive invasion of Jesus bursting into my life and Him prophesying to me. During this experience, He prophesied that I would be changed into another person. I was. Afterward, I had hope, and I knew I had purpose here on this earth. This is what the genuine prophetic does to someone. It gives purpose, hope, and vision for the now and the future. When we have purpose, we have joy. You have a divine purpose. Seek it...

Yes... as we know is Scripture, "...the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort" (1 Corinthians 14:3).

Now, get excited about an increase coming to YOU... and the testimonies it will produce.

Why the Prophetic Giftings Will Increase

Yes, I was surprised when God's Spirit whispered this to me. Haven't we been living in an increased prophetic season for years now? Since then many prophets have emerged: And let's be mature and mindful that although some prophets have exhibited great validity and impact, a minority have misused the gift. Hence, the renewed need for discernment in the Church.

God ignited the Church with a landslide of prophetic promises. Some have come to pass, others are pending. Never give up on God's prophetic promise to you. The Church has grown and matured in the prophetic, while we've weeded out some of the outlandish and silly and embraced guidelines while fine-tuning the gift of discernment.

This prophetic grace will not end until Jesus comes; because at that time we will see Him as He is and (finally) be like Him (see 1 John 3:1-3). All prophecy is designed to make us like Him or draw us closer to Him. An unknown servant of God tells us that, "...the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy" (Revelation 19:10). (I like the idea that this important truth was given by an unknown servant...this speaks of the importance of humility in prophecy). (Photo via Pixabay)

Every testimony not only has the flavor of the prophetic, but provides the potential for all people to experience the prophetic. Every Believer is a product of the prophetic promise of Jesus when He said that "if I be lifted up, [I] will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:32). If you have been drawn to Jesus, you are a fulfillment of His prophetic word two thousand years ago.

Don't misunderstand or be a cynic: I do not (and no one that I know) worships the prophetic or any gifting. We worship Jesus. At the same time, to deny what He is doing in this day and hour is to deny Jesus. You can't follow Jesus and deny what He is doing. What He is doing is what He is, and what He is, is what He is doing. Let's not quench the Spirit (see 1 Thessalonians 5:19-20). God is still producing prophets. I especially see the elderly stepping into prophetic roles.

The Prophetic is to Help You Reach Your Potential in Christ

The prophetic is not designed to entertain people. It amazes me that God gives the Church the gifts of the Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 12) knowing the potential for abuse. This simply tells us that we (the Church) are capable of spiritual excellence more so than we now realize.

We are His representatives on this earth (see 2 Corinthians 5:20). Jesus came so we would know what God was like. This we can easily accept. But, Jesus went on to say, "As the Father hath sent Me, even so I send you" (John 20:21). The Father was full of confidence that the Son would fulfill His mission successfully and that He would obey in every area and rely upon the Holy Spirit to preach, teach, heal, and deliver. The Father has sent you and I to do the same thing and is confident that even as Jesus was successful, so will we be. That is God's view of you and me! (Photo via Pixabay)

When God chose you, He equipped you for His service. It's not a, "Maybe I'll make it," or, "Oh no, what if I fail..." No, a thousand times no. God has full assurance that you will not only make it, but fulfill your destiny completely. He believes it. You must believe it also. Those currently serving in a prophetic role will increase in accuracy while others will be humble enough to be mentored by them.

The Prophetic Gives Hope for the Future

God is a God of the now, in the sense that He never changes, (see Malachi 3:6). We, His children, are not only people of the moment (now), but of the future, because we are being changed into His image (see Romans 8:29). You don't want to forever be like you are now. If all we had was the now, we would have little. Paul said, if this it, "we are of all men most miserable" (1 Corinthians 15:19). We need to press forward to the high calling of God which is in Christ Jesus (see Philippians 3:14). This high calling is prophetic, in the sense that we are going to be like Him one day (see 1 John 3:2).

Seek it...

The Prophetic Word Gives Deliverance

I was introduced to Jesus by Jesus on December 25, 1971, when He quietly, but majestically burst into my living room. When Jesus spoke to me it was so powerful that I immediately experienced deliverance from the enemy. I did not know what deliverance was at the time, but I got it. I learned that we don't always have to understand what is happening when God is dealing with us to enjoy the benefit of His work. He'll fill in the details later. I was delivered from evil spirits before I knew what an evil spirit was. I had no clue what a demon was at that time. I just knew that something very, very good was happening to me. And, I knew I was now free (see John 8:36). (Photo via Pixabay)

God's word spoken through His servants breaks bondages. The Bible, the written Word, is preeminent over any spoken prophetic word, but don't resist the spoken prophetic word (see 1 Corinthians 14:39). Yet, the prophetic is much more. One day Jesus will rule the nations. He spoke (prophesied) this before it takes place (read Matthew 24 & 25). He has a consistent habit of telling before things take place. Amos 3:7 says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets."

As you pray, ask God if He just might want to use you as His mouthpiece. You might be surprised. You just got a prophetic word. Do something with it.

The Holy Spirit Surprised Me – As I Was Preparing to Email This Word, The Holy Spirit Gave Me this Vision for America

God showed me a great move of His Spirit that will soon begin on the East Coast and sweep over this country. I saw fog or a mist, and He explained, "At first it will seem like a 'stealth move' because it will almost look invisible and low key." I saw a very small trickle of water. Then it became a stream. It was pure and exceedingly white and clean. If not looking closely, you couldn't see it.

He said, "It will start with those who are full of overwhelming passion and hunger for souls. I will use the small, insignificant, and humble in heart. I caution you not to look for revivals of the past; rather, this will be a new thing. Be careful not to judge, but be open to a fresh and different movement that will entail the gathering of souls. Many will feel, 'Give me souls, or I die!' (Photo via Pixabay)

"Do not be stuck in your own mindset of how I will manifest Myself (the old ways, etc.). Be expectant, because I will use those that most would not have chosen. Some churches that are referred to as 'seeker-friendly' will begin to feel a resistance in their members and start to insist not on a seeker atmosphere, but a deeper atmosphere. The star of this movement will not be the current movers and shakers in the Church. Yet, (and I will be pleased at this) those leaders will not resent others being at the forefront of this fresh move. They will cheer it on!

"The star will be the Holy Spirit. A holy reverence for Me will return to the Church, and holy living will be restored. I will convict many who are half-hearted and lukewarm. Some will respond...others will not. It will be a time of great testing and trial for others. Many will come forth as gold; others as wood, hay, and stubble. Get ready. I am about to do serious heavenly business on earth such has never been seen or experienced. Be ready!
