Joey LeTourneau: Jesus Wept – Love Filled, Resurrection Life Tears

by Joey LeTourneau
Aug 16, 2014

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

Many times we feel we are alone in our walk through life... but not so! Jesus is right there walking with us, sticking closer than a brother, interceding for us. He feels what we feel – when in times of sorrow and joy...

You will really appreciate this word and vision that Joey LeTourneau had of Jesus... it will show you just how much Jesus IS near. Joey shares here:

Praise Him in the process and allow yourself to know just how personal you are to Him. Receive the tears that He weeps on your behalf, weeping because you, one He loves so dearly, feels the pain of answers and hope deferred. He feels the same pain. He bears it with you to the point of tears. And He uses those tears as His personal intercession on your behalf, loving you to a point of resurrection and life that waits on the other side.

Enjoy this vision and word... from Jesus to YOU!

Steve

Joey LeTourneauJesus wept. Then the Jews said, 'See how He loved him!" John 11:35-36

"Jesus wept" is a short and infamous verse that divulges so much about God's nature. The context of the verse is from a story of the past, but there is something personal in those words; something alive within the context of God's nature and love towards us now.

It's from a story I love, and a story I learn from anew each year. It is present with characters, friends of Jesus, who held a special place in our Lord's heart. He loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus dearly, which was in essence what squeezed those tears from Jesus' heart. Mary and Martha had lost a loved one, Lazarus, who Jesus loved and held dear as well. Time had passed them by, and despite their hope for healing the answer hadn't come when or how they wanted, expected, or even needed.

Two separate times, these two sisters, who Jesus loved so much, spoke the very same words: "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died" (John 11:21, 32).

Have you ever felt that same thought pop up in your head? I don't know about you, but my family and I, as well as many others we know, are currently battling pressure-filled, challenging circumstances that have us waiting, believing and persevering while we trust God for an answer only He can provide.

The thing about those kind of answers, as well as the pressures and needs that precede them, is that you can feel alone. You can feel like time has passed you by without an answer. And among the most common, you can feel like no one understands. The truth is, no one can. No one other than our Great Intercessor that is, Who understands beyond words!

"Therefore when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, 'Where have you laid him?' They said to Him, 'Lord, come and see.' Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, 'See how He loved him!" John 11:33-36

Tears of Intercession

The other night I was closing up our house after everyone had gone the direction of their beds. I put on worship, turned off the lights, then paused in the kitchen a moment just to behold Jesus, sensing His nearness and His draw. Captivated by His presence, I began to repeat simple declarations of praise and thanks to Jesus over and again. (Photo by Jennifer Page "Washed in His Love" via elijahshopper.com)

I think I repeated it five times when suddenly I was immersed in a vision of our Lord Jesus, standing before the Father interceding on our behalf. But that's when I realized something was different. I didn't hear words of intercession, but saw Jesus weep one tear over my family and me before the Father that dripped down and submersed us in His tear.

I knew immediately that Jesus' tear was His intercession for us – it was beyond words – and showed Him personally connected to the pressures we were walking through, so much so that He wept for us and what we were passing through.

His love for us was tangible and expressed in that tear, and when the tear hit us it reminded me immediately that He was not late, but present in love, grieving with us, and advocating for us. His tear will walk us through the moments of answers missed to His timely fulfillment; we just have to walk with Him, and believe!

"Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?'" John 11:40

In the story of Lazarus, Jesus' tears were a sure sign that He was right on time, even if such had not yet been shown, and that He had been with them by His love the whole way. I came out of the encounter with the Lord and was revived and encouraged, even beyond what I had felt before. His tear was refreshing, because it was a splash of how present His love is in our lives, even when the answers aren't yet present.

We can tend to see things in black and white, result-oriented to say the least. But we have a God Who loves us enough to value the process, to call us through the process with Him where He proves His love to us, so He can prove it through us as well. We naturally await His answers to our prayers and situations, but sometimes His tear over us, His love with us, is just as powerful as the resurrection and life that is to come!

Personal Tears

Can you believe for the tear He weeps for you? Are you in a process that has not yet produced answers to your problems or your promises? Jesus says, "Believe, and you will see the glory of God."

• Are you or your family currently being impacted by illness? His tears are with you.

• Are you experiencing financial pressure or challenge? His tears are with you.

• Have you lost a loved one and search for the light on the other side? His tears are with you.

• Are you experiencing challenges in your family or with others? His tears are with you.

• Have you seen a promise or dream seemingly fall to the ground, and are losing hope? His tears are with you.

• Whatever else you may be battling, however you are hurting, imagine Jesus weeping a tear over you, with you, though not a tear of final mourning, but a tear of love and life that speaks of His resurrection life ahead!

Jesus understands the very personal, seemingly not understandable place you are battling and His tears are right there with you – dripping down over you in fact. And now, He calls you forth like Mary and Martha to follow Him further, through the tears, to a place where He plans resurrection and life!

"Now when He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' And he who had died came out..." John 11:43-44

The Father is moved by His Sons love for you. Jesus wept. Bask in His tears, for there is life inside!!
