When the Plumb Line Is Dropped! And How To Respond To the Times
The Background
In July 2012, I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that I have previously released called Come Again, Holy Spirit (click title to read it). In the written and oral account, I stated that I was awakened out of a dream state by hearing the words, "A line had been drawn in the sand." I knew not to publicly interpret that part of the encounter at that time but felt the liberty to announce the word.
One year later, the first night I had "transitioned" into my new residence in Franklin, Tennessee, the external, audible voice of the Lord came to me once again. I was suddenly awakened by a thundering voice in my bedroom declaring, "A line had been drawn in the sand." This was now a second witness given to me concerning this word. Confirmation was granted (see Deuteronomy 19:15; Matthew 18:16; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 2 Corinthians 13:1).
Two mornings later, I was given some stunningly clear dreams. The morning encounter began with a phrase, "When the plumb line is dropped." I was directed to Amos 7:7-8 where it states, "Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing by a vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand. The Lord said to me, 'What do you see, Amos?' And I said, 'A plumb line.' Then the Lord said, 'Behold I am about to put a plumb line in the midst of My people Israel...'"
Everything was so vivid that I felt I was awake and living in the middle of the circumstances in the dreams; sight, sound, colors, smells, and various activities were all pronounced in this enlightened state. For more on this subject matter, I have taught this in detail in my book The Prophetic Intercessor. It has been helpful to thousands and is all the more pertinent in this hour.
A Word Concerning the Supreme Court of the U.S.A.
The voice of the Lord proceeded to tell me that the Holy Spirit was very displeased with the recent decisions of the Supreme Court Justices of the United States. (It was an opportunity for the scales to tip towards righteousness, but instead, wrong decisions were cast that has opened a door toward rapid societal deterioration.)
The fear of the Lord tangibly rested on my body. I knew these Justices would be held accountable before the Lord for these decisions concerning the sanctity of life, financing abortions, wrong marriage definition, a flood of gender confusion, and more. Please note: I always call us to honor those in authority and pray for them and will continue to do so (see Romans 13:1; Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:28; 1 Peter 2:17; 1 Timothy 2:1, and other Scriptures). But in this particular situation, I am compelled to be a reporter of things revealed to me while raising a call for prayer as well.
The Redeemer's Pledge
Personally, I am always looking for redemption in the midst of crisis. It is one of the major guiding standards for me in the prophetic at this time in my life. Many see problems and predict that difficult things are coming and already upon us. But where are those Modern Day Reformers who do not deny that current problems exist – but in the midst of them, they lift up a cry to the Lord for intervention and work toward redemption in the midst of chaos?
This is the very nature of the Holy Spirit, and perhaps another less-sought-after realm in the prophetic. We are called to, "Declare life!" (see Ezekiel 37:1-10, my book The Lifestyle of a Prophet. These "Hopeful Reformers" must arise!
Now back to my early morning encounter... I was now taken to the cover of a book compiled by Che Ahn called The Reformer's Pledge (I know the book well as I was one of the contributing authors for the compilation). The Holy Spirit takes me to the Table of Contents in the dream state where I read the titles of 10 chapters of the strategic book.
He then highlighted for me four chapters in particular. I read them, and yet they read me. I trembled under the simplicity and gravity of what I read. The Sanctity of Marriage by Jim Garlow, Creating a Culture for Life by Lou Engle, Unashamedly Holy by Cindy Jacobs, and History Belongs to the Intercessor by James Goll.
The Holy Spirit indicated to me that we could save this nation (and I believe the nations) by restoring the truths contained in these four chapters – as well as the other ingredients found in the other important chapters. The entire foundation of our society is built upon these truths. Each of these chapters contain truths that are a PLUMB LINE being dropped in our midst today.
The Holy Spirit later highlighted to me that the chapter History Belongs to the Intercessor was there because it contains teaching on "Why I Pray And Take a Stand For Israel" as well as releasing a call to intervention through intercession.
We Must Stand Up And Raise Our Voice!
We must take a stand for the Biblical mandates of marriage between one man and one woman, protecting life beginning at conception, aligning with God's Word concerning His heart and purposes for Israel, and calling for solutions and intervention through the eternal value of prayer!
I am taking a stand. I want to take The Redeemer's Pledge! Will you do it with me? Remember, together in Jesus, we make a great team!
How to Respond to the Times
Teachers in Evangelical and Pentecostal/Charismatic circles have taught much about "the last days." But exceptionally little has been taught about the Biblical response of God's people to the last days. I made a comparative study of the verbs Jesus used in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, where He described how we should respond when we see earthquakes, famines, wars and rumors of wars, and so on. Here is a summary of these responses:
See Matthew 24 (NIV):
"Watch out that no one deceives you" (verse 4).
"See to it that you are not alarmed" (verse 6).
"Stand firm to the end" (verse 13).
"Keep watch" (verse 42).
See Mark 13:
"Watch out that no one deceives you" (verse 5).
"Do not be alarmed" (verse 7).
"Be on your guard" (verse 9).
"Do not worry" (verse 11).
"Stand firm" (verse 13).
"Be on your guard" (verse 23).
"Be on your guard! Be alert!" (verse 33).
"Keep watch" (verse 35).
"Watch!" (verse 37).
See Luke 21:
"Watch out that you are not deceived" (verse 8).
"Do not be frightened" (verse 9).
"Stand firm" (verse 19).
"Stand up and lift up your heads" (verse 28).
"Be careful" (verse 34).
"Be always on the watch, and pray" (verse 36).
All of these statements can be summarized in three main phrases: "Do not be afraid" (mentioned four times), "Stand firm" (mentioned four times), and "Watch." Jesus used this key word, "watch," 11 times – almost three times more than any other admonition! Once again, you can hear His voice saying to the Church, "The key I give you is 'watch.'" In Matthew 18:19-20, He gave us the keys of the Kingdom, and they have to do with prayer:
Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in Heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst (Matthew 18:19-20).
Jesus wants groups of two or three people to gather in His name and ask in symphony or harmony. (The Greek word translated as "agree" is sumphoneo, or "harmonious.") This is the heart of the "watch of the Lord." I know it's profound, but you don't need a doctorate in theology or linguistics to understand it.
The Greek word for "watch" in these verses is gregoreuo, and it means "to be vigilant, awake, to be watchful." A watchman on the wall does many things. He carefully watches what is happening and alerts the community when good ambassadors approach the city. The guardsman then will open the gates and lower the bridge so the ambassadors may enter. A watchman also warns the city far in advance when an enemy approaches. He sounds an alarm to awaken the people because he knows "to forewarn them is to alert and arm them." Then they quickly can rally to take their stand on the wall against the enemy before he wrongfully tries to enter into the city.
It's Time To Watch!
We are judged by the amount of light we have. This is a nation of great light. But our very moral foundation is eroding right in front of our eyes. We must be asking the right questions in order to get the right answers. But even greater than that – it is all the more time to pray for those in authority and especially the Supreme Court Justices of the United States.
God's plumb line is His Word. It has been dropped in the midst of our nation. Do we measure up? What will be the ramifications concerning the lack of righteous decisions, concerning the definition of marriage, abortion on demand, promoting promiscuity, and not taking a Biblical stand with Israel – the apple of God's eye?
I am personally experiencing a fresh realm of the fear of the Lord, and as for me, I am mounting the walls of intercession all over again! How do we respond to the times? Do not fear! Stand firm! Be on the watch in Jesus' name!
