Building a House
Any time that we consider "building a house," wisdom, understanding, and knowledge are essential and powerful principles to guide us (see Proverbs 24:3-4). Whatever our God-given assignments are, we all go through the process of building. We are to partner with God through intercession and by taking steps of obedience in response to the revealed will of God that comes out of those times of intercession. The greatest encouragement we can all find is in the foundational truth that God Himself is the Builder of all things (see Hebrews 3:4).
In fact, "unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1). When it was in the heart of King David to build a house for the ark of the covenant, God sent word to David through the prophet Nathan that "the Lord will make a house for you" (2 Samuel 7:11). As important as it is for our hearts to be completely yielded to God, it is even more important to realize His heart toward us!
After Moses had received the complete pattern from God for the construction of the tabernacle through a face-to-face encounter (intercession), God raised up Bezalel and "filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship" (Exodus 31:3). Receiving and implementing these three key principles into our lives will assure us of fruitfulness in intercession and the assignments that God gives to us. Let's look at them.
Wisdom
"Through wisdom a house is built." Proverbs 24:3
Godly wisdom is "knowing and possessing the heart of God." This wisdom is the governing and guiding principle which directs our lives. Proverbs 8 is filled with insight into wisdom. Wisdom itself declares that it was with God before and during creation. "For whoever finds Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord; but he who sins against Me wrongs his own soul" (Proverbs 8:35-36). When we are being governed by this wisdom in intercession, we can be assured that we are praying in the will of God. "Our house will be built."
Understanding
"By understanding it is established." Proverbs 24:3
This understanding is the assurance within our souls that we are being governed and guided by wisdom. Assurance is far beyond the natural mind's ability to comprehend. It is beyond explanation. It is a spiritual revelation that comes from walking in intimate relationship with God. The Lord told Jeremiah that He delights in those who know and understand Him and His character (see Jeremiah 9:24). When our intercession is founded in intimacy with God, our hearts are assured before God and we can be confident that our prayers will be answered (see 1 John 3:19-22). "Our house will be established."
Knowledge
"By knowledge the rooms are filled." Proverbs 24:4
This knowledge is the revelatory information that God gives to bring completion or fulfillment. It is far superior to the earthly and carnal knowledge that only brings pride (see 1 Corinthians 8:1-2). Through knowing God's heart and being established in intimacy with Him, we continually receive the knowledge and ability to complete every assignment He gives. "Our house will be complete."
Pray and Decree
As we seek to navigate through some of the challenges we are facing during these days, individually, corporately, and even in our varying nations, let's press into God for His wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Let's pray and decree these directives this month over our own lives, ministries, families, and the Body of Christ.
Prayers for the Body of Christ:
1. We are filled with and walk in wisdom from above (James 3:17).
2. We are filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9-11).
3. We are filled with the fear of the Lord which brings wisdom, knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 9:10).
4. We are abundantly blessed because we walk in the wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of God (Proverbs 24:3-4, 8:18,21).
5. We are filled with favor because we love wisdom (Proverbs 8:35).
Father, we thank You that You give wisdom to us generously. We thank You that You always hear our hearts when we cry out to You. Thank You for filling us with Your wisdom, understanding and knowledge.
