Kim Clement

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

We should always, always bless and pray for our nation and NOT curse it... just read 2 Chronicles 7:14 for a guide. Kim Clement is consistently prophesying blessing and encouragement over America, and I appreciate him and his ministry for doing just that in this great land of ours.

Kim ClementIn my previous article, I wrote about Jacob and how he reversed a curse spoken over his future – his son. As Rachel was dying, she named her newborn son Benoni, meaning "son of sorrow," speaking from the deep sorrow of her soul. It is best to be still when speaking from a broken soul, because death proceeds out of the mouth. If someone has placed a curse upon you, you have the power to reverse that curse.

Keep in mind that there were sorrowful things happening around Jacob even though there were many great blessings being spoken by God.

What This Means For the United States of America

What did God purpose for the United States of America from her beginning? According to our forefathers, they had dedicated this land to God and for the purpose of spreading the Good News throughout the earth and for doing good. God has not changed His mind simply because there are many who live sinful lives. Think of the many millions of Americans who pray, live as uprightly as they possibly can, and perform good works daily – are they ignored by God?

As we know, there are seasons in life for specific purposes. And seasons of famine always come to an end. What I want to remind you of is the story about Elijah during a severe famine in Israel. As you know, Elijah pronounced the drought, but what led up to this curse upon the land of Israel? Read this with me in 1 Kings 16:29-34:

"In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri became king over Israel; and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him. And it came to pass, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; and he went and served Baal and worshiped him. Then he set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. And Ahab made a wooden image. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him. In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, according to the word of the Lord, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun."

Immediately after Ahab had taken rule, he caused the people of Israel to sin by serving and worshiping Baal. As a result of this, something happened in the land of Israel that brought about severe poverty on the land: The people's hearts were divided and they wavered between two opinions. Once division has set in, deceitfulness marries the soul and the lips, and the words formed produce death. What is happening in our nation today is that there is wavering between many opinions. There is division amongst spiritual leaders regarding God's plans for America. Some say, "Cursed be America," while others say, "Blessed be America." The people are divided. In 1 Kings 16, something changes dramatically. Ahab, still the king and still very much in control, is summoned by Elijah the prophet and told to bring 450 prophets of Baal to Mount Carmel. A display of religious rhetoric transpires until they are worn out. Elijah does two very important things, which causes the heavens to open.

1. He repairs the altar of the Lord, which was in ruins. He then offers an offering to God.

2. He unites the hearts of the people, and out of this unity, the influence of the prophets of Baal is destroyed.

Suddenly, the heavens open up and the rain begins lightly until it fills the land. Did Ahab die? No. Was Jezebel destroyed? No, not then. So it wasn't the removal of Ahab or Jezebel that brought an end to the famine in Israel, but the restoration of the altar of the Lord and the destruction of division and discord amongst the people of God. As I prophesied recently, God still blessed Israel with rain in spite of the evil that was present in word and deed. Once the hearts of the people of God were united around His altar, GOD SENT THE RAIN AND THE PROVISION.

The Holy Spirit spoke to Peter in a vision saying, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean." I refuse to curse what God has blessed and I will continue blessing America. As long as I have it within my power to bring unity around the altar of the Lord, I will, because it is there that the Lord COMMANDS HIS BLESSING.

In closing, I want to encourage you to sow during summer. There is a break in the heavens. As Elijah repaired the altar and offered an offering to God, why don't you allow the prophetic word to repair the altar in your heart? Once this happens your offering is rich and pure. God replies with an abundance of rain – always! Be fruitful and MULTIPLY.

"To every matter there is a bright as well as a dark side. Rachel was overwhelmed with the sorrow of her own travail and death; Jacob, though weeping the mother's loss, could see the mercy of the child's birth. It is well for us if, while the flesh mourns over trials, our faith triumphs in divine faithfulness. Samson's lion yielded honey, and so will our adversities, if rightly considered. The stormy sea feeds multitudes with its fishes; the wild wood blooms with beauteous flowerets; the stormy wind sweeps away the pestilence, and the biting frost loosens the soil. Dark clouds distil bright drops, and black earth grows gay flowers. A vein of good is to be found in every mine of evil.

"Sad hearts have peculiar skill in discovering the most disadvantageous point of view from which to gaze upon a trial; if there were only one slough in the world, they would soon be up to their necks in it, and if there were only one lion in the desert they would hear it roar. About us all there is a tinge of this wretched folly, and we are apt, at times, like Jacob, to cry, 'All these things are against me.' Faith's way of walking is to cast all care upon the Lord, and then to anticipate good results from the worst calamities. Like Gideon's men, she does not fret over the broken pitcher, but rejoices that the lamp blazes forth the more. Out of the rough oyster-shell of difficulty she extracts the rare pearl of honour, and from the deep ocean-caves of distress she uplifts the priceless coral of experience. When her flood of prosperity ebbs, she finds treasures hid in the sands; and when her sun of delight goes down, she turns her telescope of hope to the starry promises of heaven. When death itself appears, faith points to the light of resurrection beyond the grave, thus making our dying Benoni to be our living Benjamin." –Charles Spurgeon
