Tiffany Ann Lewis"Can These Bones Live?"

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8

Lately I have been gripped with the authority Jesus gave us, and I am sensing in the Spirit a real need to press into the miraculous and release faith into the atmosphere. I believe it will start as we catch the look in the Lord's eye. You see, a servant does what he or she is commanded, but a child, friend, or lover can catch the look in their companion's eye and respond. Let's take a glimpse into the valley of dry bones recorded in Ezekiel 37:1-4, and I'll show you what I mean.

The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord God, You know." Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!'"

God allows Ezekiel to see the condition of the bones, and they were indeed very dry. Next, the Lord asks Ezekiel a question, "Son of man, can these bones live?"

Now that's a loaded question. I mean, seriously, what do you say when the God of the universe asks you something like that? Ezekiel responded, "O Lord God, You know."

I honestly don't believe that our omniscient God desired an answer...I think He was looking for a response. To me, it seems like God was making a suggestive statement and wanting Ezekiel to catch something in the Spirit and run with it. I can see the Lord with a smile on His face and a twinkle in His eye saying, "Whatcha' think, son, can these bones live?" Desiring an enthusiastic response like, "Why...YES, LORD GOD...these dry bones CAN live!

In verse 4, God goes back to the command mode of communication and tells Ezekiel to prophesy. Don't you just long to catch the twinkle in God's eye and prophesy regardless of how dead, how dry, or how impossible the situation is?

As Believers, we are called to walk by faith, not by sight. However, often we see the hopelessness of a situation and not the twinkle in God's eye and we succumb to the natural and skip the possibility of the supernatural. Can you identify?

Guided by His Eye

What's the solution? To keep a steady gaze on the face of the Father. It will allow us to be guided by His eye, taught by His Spirit, and do what He does. It will position us for the impossible. I believe this is the position that Jesus had. Scripture reveals that He did nothing except what He saw His Father doing in Heaven: "Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner" (John 5:19).

This gaze allowed Jesus to be guided by God's eye. Similarly, it will allow us to as well. Consider Peter and John in Acts 3. They walked daily to the temple, and every day there was a lame man that was laying at the temple gates begging for alms. Peter and John must have seen this guy many times before, yet this day they stopped and looked at the man. This day there was an eye-to-eye connection between them, and an eye-to-eye connection with God by the Spirit.

They must have seen the twinkle in God's eye for Scripture reveals that Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength" (Acts 3:6-7). Notice, they didn't gather the pastor or elders, they didn't anoint the man with oil for healing, they didn't fast, they didn't even pray. They saw the condition of the lame man and they responded to the twinkle in God's eye and declared on earth as they saw it in Heaven. YES, LORD GOD – that lame man CAN walk! In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.

YES, LORD GOD – that marriage CAN be restored!
YES, LORD GOD – that alcoholic CAN be set free!
YES, LORD GOD – that cancer CAN be healed!
YES, LORD GOD – that suicidal heart CAN find hope!
YES, LORD GOD – WHATEVER!

Beloved, the Lord is inviting us to look and catch the twinkle in His eye. This look will empower us to pray with a boldness that doesn't presume or plead, but rather expects God's will to be accomplished here on earth. It's time to catch the twinkle in our Father's eye and respond with a "YES, LORD GOD!" Amen and Amen.
